It was being discussed earlier how Digi loves pandering to tumblr. I hope he doesn't go full Pedantic Romantic mode with his videos, they're already bad enough as they are.

He just made a video called - Top 5 Yuri Classics You Should Watch For Pride Month :cringe:

And I'm posting his new profile pictures on here for archival reasons. They're disgusting.

digibro after dark.jpg

This has been a trend for a while now, but it seems like he consistently loses hundreds of subscribers each time he uploads a new video on the main channel. This time around he doesn't have the Crunchyroll controversy to save his channel from its inevitable downfall.
socialblade.PNG

It's even worse on the after dark channel. When he does the rant spam he loses hundreds-thousands of subscribers each time. But to him it's worth it because he gets all the views and ad revenue. Drowning the entire channel with hundreds of rant videos over the last few months seems like a bad idea to me. Imagine being a new viewer that tries to look at what other videos he has. What they'll see is walls of rants with the occasional tier list.

Digi has said that the rants ($15 per month Patreon reward) have been a significant source of revenue growth. My brain tells me this is unsustainable, but his Patrons are evidently not very bright so I dunno.

Side-note: The US seems positioned for another recession in the near future. I'm curious to see how this affects people's Patreons, as it will be the first time Patreon , and many other crowd-funding sites, have existed during a recession.

If I were in Digi's position, who I'm pretty sure doesn't have a lot of savings, I would be seriously considering what I'll be doing if the Patreon money dries up. I know he's not good with his finances. It's frustrating to see someone with such a unique and precarious opportunity squander it through their own idiocy--though it's also funny.

Edit: Also I didn't see this mentioned, but Endless Jess (one of the PCP crew) is apparently homeless. Some details on his Patreon. This is not surprising at all, except to note that he makes $934 per VIDEO, and still can't get his shit together. This is why I called him a retarded failure at life. That said, this is probably a good thing for him in the long run, but who the fuck knows where he'll end up. I think this makes over half of the PCP either homeless or living with their parents, though I haven't been keeping track. Still, it's shocking that a bunch of circle-jerking former Brony weebs haven't found success in life. Yet. I'm sure it's coming any day now.

Quick check-up on the other PCP members:
  • Davoo with his $28 per month Patreon and smashing game dev career has decided to get a real job
  • Hippocrit is earning enough to pay his parents 'rent', plus double- and triple- dipping, and maybe more dipping, I don't know. Also, whatever the fuck this KickFundMe is about
  • Ben Saint is doing alright making $440/month to draw comics, plus has some other job I don't know about and is also dipping into the PCP pay-pig pool
  • Tom Oliver is being spared $184/month by generous souls helping out a lad down on his luck. You can play his game, Azumi. It's not the worst thing I've ever played, but don't quit your day j- oh, wait.... Also is part of the embarrassment that is I AM GAMES.
  • You know who did quit their day job? THIS GUY, BestGuyEver. How's that going? Uhh... w-well, it's about the future. Moving on...
  • 'LethalAuroraMage' is still gay and degenerate, makes a pittance on Patreon, does commissions on DeviantArt ("I don't draw; NSFW, Detailed Mecha, Fetishes")--potentially not degenerate and only gay
  • There's that one fat kid. Doesn't seem to have a Patreon? Kinda surprised
  • Don't forget Mumkey Jones was part of the PCP, but decided to be successful instead, then changed his mind. What a legend.

Youtube is also becoming less reliable as a platform for independent creators. Digi appears to be disgusted by the fact that he has to do so many rants but he has to endure it whether he likes it or not. He's lucky to have such dumb patrons. In more than one place he said he wanted to either reduce the amount of rants people can pledge for or that he's going to raise the price of each rant to 20$. He himself knows these rants are highly unsustainable but he's not doing much to save his channels.

Not that long ago his Patreon was losing a lot of steam and was on a continual decline. He miraculously managed to save it by making the 'BEING A YOUTUBER IS GREAT!!' video where he somehow managed to make people to give him an extra 1000$ a month(edit-it was probably less than that, since someone made a fake pledge that was large and it was quickly removed, and looking at the graphtreon Digi page, the numbers I estimated don't seem to be that exact, my bad). Then he started doing the rants and he started making even more in a month. It's mind blowing to think Digi currently has a more successful patreon page than someone like Super Bunny Hop for example.

All the growth Digi experienced was because of his hardcore fanbase. I'm impressed how he managed to gather such a dedicated group of supporters.

Digi could have had significant savings if he were slightly competent. Now he has to worry about large debts he's accumulated and he continues to spend money on all kinds of unnecessary crap, including fast food. He is still renting an entire house, at around 1800$, he mentioned it in an IAG vod iirc. He could go for something much cheaper, since him and May don't need such a big place.

It's definitely frustrating, but also entertaining to see him self-destruct everything he's built in such a spectacular way.

In case anyone was wondering what Digibro offers in his 40$ Care Package besides garbage and pieces of paper where Digi signed the words 'I'm gay', someone uploaded the video contents from one of these scam packages.

Other observations/thoughts:
  • Davoo seems to be the only one to have somewhat snapped out of the PCP delusion drug as he's been distancing himself from the group for over a year. He's now fading away from the public eye and is trying to build a career outside of anime video editing. I think he still has a girlfriend. Digi said he wanted to be a game dev... so there still is delusion in there.
  • Hippocrit is still making money from his autistic fans even after he gave up on his worthless unfunny Youtube 'career'. The fundraiser is fucking pathetic and it shows how delusional he is if he thinks he can gather 6k$ for a hideous plush toy. His comic is a meme and he's apparently a writer for a cartoon that will most likely never get produced and fully funded.
  • I don't follow Ben, but he seems to naturally be a lolcow by being himself.
  • Tom is still alive, barely. His parents took him after he started having all of his horrible back and leg health complications.
  • BestGuyEver made the dumb decision to quit his stable job so he could be a full time anime-vidya Youtuber, in fucking 2019, when the platform is bleeding everywhere and the future is looking bleak as fuck. He's failing to reach his old patreon numbers, which were at 1k before he stopped uploading videos for months. He's losing a lot of subscribers as they don't care for the low effort stuff he's been throwing out on the daily.
  • LethalAuroraMage is a meme and the least valuable PCP member.
  • I'm not sure what Munchy is doing besides getting a hefty debt for a meme art degree. I think he went to college because of his girlfriend, I'm sure he's not going to regret that. He mentioned he would like to possibly work for Disney someday, oof. I see a lot of people say he's really intelligent but I'm not buying it.
  • If you're going to mention old PCP members, shout-outs to Geoff from Mother's Basement for being an insufferable shill leftie sellout cuck and an independent lolcow.
The PCP group is truly exceptional.

Digi in the past had multiple channels as he wanted to have certain content and liked the idea of having all those channels, now he recently decided he was going to upload the videos from the other side channels to his main channel. Now, it is like he has given up on growing and will rely on his established fanbase as he sees no way to expand to the market as a whole. Also, he acknowledges last year when he wasn't doing shit for a while, then was bringing up when he was making the bottom of the barrel content everyday. What shocks me is he says he lost traction when he made the Steins;Gate videos because people didn't care, I think I remember Digi's fanbase lashing out at him for disregarding the visual novels and evidently not getting the point of the first Steins;Gate anime. The Log Horizon videos after the Steins;Gate 0 videos was his response to fans wanting content like the Asterisk War videos, but the Log Horizon videos came at a point where the reception from his fanbase on the show was split as many didn't like it already and he didn't try to make it more appealing to them, on top of the fact a lot of what he said he has said in past videos. He once again is saying that the rants videos are weighing down the recent solo podcast style Whirling Dervish videos he has made which he wanted people to care about as I said before, the rants will detract from the content he wants his fans to care about. He talks about wanting to move them to another channel and not thinking it would work, but as I said before the rants are Patreon rewards, I see no reason he couldn't upload them as unlisted so people don't see them and put them in playlists and link the shit on his patreon and social media or make a video everytime it is updated if he really wants the money from them or something. So now we have this detraction where he is going to upload usual After Dark stuff to the main channel and just have the After Dark channel get bloated with rants. I personally think this is a terrible decision because he is going to drive away the outsiders who aren't core fans and while they may only watch from time to time,he is going to need to grow somehow to stay sustainable.

Edit:

Digi is also about to go crazy with the reuploads on his main channel. He talks about the rants getting weighed down, but I guess he is trying to do anything to bring views even if this reupload spam might weigh down the main channel as most of the audience he has consistently as his core fanbase probably already seen these videos before for the most part.

He does know a channel posting more than 2 videos a day will get them flagged for spam and kill their spot in the algorithm, right?

Well, this idea seems retarded, but I'm not a sub or a Patron so whatever.

I glanced through Digi's main channel vids and the most well-received videos are pretty clearly the ones about obscure anime industry trivia and anime trope analyses, which are prob my favorite too. A few of the generic mainstream review-type vids have decent views but I doubt those attract Patrons, especially since many of his takes are lambasted. Besides he's never been the channel people go to for content they can get from any other shitty anime YT'er.

I've heard him mention he's run out of ideas, is burnt out, etc., which I don't get. I wonder if having the security of a girlfriend might've made him lazy and caused his creativity to suffer, or maybe he's making too much money releasing garbage to feel compelled to try, any more. I think there's a good chance both of those factors will be changing, so we might see.

What a terrible idea. I guess this is his response to the fact that he is too lazy to edit videos. His channel was dead enough and this is the final nail in the coffin. A much better idea would be to get one of his dumb patreon supporters to become his new bitch editor, it worked with Davoo, why not do it again?

It also does not help that he despises current seasonal anime and is uninterested in talking about anime in general, but he is not being honest about it. The girlfriend + drinking + weed + experimenting with drugs combo completely killed his creativity (and many brain cells). He is a lazy hack, it was discussed above that he has all the stats necessary to realize what works for his channel, but he does not want to be one of those 'regular' youtubers that has decent consistency to his style and content, even if he was doing it for a while a few years ago.

Many of Digi's fans on his subreddit seem to also be very suspicious on Digi's reasoning behind these recent events.

Edit:

Also, Digi has just shown off one of his recent reuploads where he edited together all of his "manga mondays" videos into an 8 hour long video onto his main channel

Anyone else find it ironic that Digi killed his own channel just by sheer ineptitude?

Some year ago he made fun of Mother's basement by saying he paid 600$ for a SEO guy while he didn't even know what SEO (search engine optimization) was. Now channels like MB overtook him by miles (despite being utter trash) just because they invested their money properly instead of wasting it on overpriced renting, eating out or smoking 300$ worth of weed a week.

All digi needs to do, since he clearly doesn't know how marketing works, is find a guy who's good at marketing/youtube seo and let him pull his channel out of the mud. Get the thumbnails right, check what themes are trending and work out a proper schedule on when to drop what.

It's no rocket science to scan google search terms in the anime category, scan /r anime and youtube comments on popular anime videos. There's programs that do the work for you. That way he can mold his content around that without putting in much effort.

Maybe also hire a part time editor who works via commission on his videos.

Leafy got away by paying his video editors a pittance of 20-50$ back then. I'm certain digi has enough devoted fans that would work for pocket change.

When the winner out of your group cheats on his long time girlfriend with a child grooming furry and loses the house they got to stay in you have to wonder what group mentality these people had.

I find it ironic how Digi was the one who taught MB how to chase the algorithms and how important it is. He also taught Geoff the importance of titles and thumbnails after a lot of insistence. Digi himself stopped doing these own things out of his own stupidity (ffs he had to change the title and thumbnail of the Utena video after the fans pointed out how bad they were). But it's no surprise Digi is an idiot, he did shit out a video called 'Fuck The Main Channel' just a few days ago.

The problem is, Digi does not want to talk about current anime. He barely wants to talk about anime at all. He knows very well where to look so he can find the hottest anime topics. For crying out loud he used to look at the most popular seasonal anime on MAL and it worked perfectly for the channel. But he's 'better' than that and we can all see where that lead his channel.

Digi is delusional when it comes to marketing, you have to remember his collossal blunder with the How They Marketed it series, he genuinely thought he knew what he was doing and talking about. Davoo put in tremendeous amounts of work into that shitty concept only for Digi to completely fuck it up at release, I'm sure that was the point where Davoo made the decision to permanently distance himself from Digi in the future.

1000 anime completed
Also surprised Night on the Galactic Railroad is too slow for him, I thought it would have been right up at his alley. Shame it's a great movie.

The thing with Digi is that he is always changing, yet remaining the same. Ponies, SAO, 90’s anime, his weed phase, all different at a glance but all the same at the core.
As for the PCP, it the show became less like listening in on a chat room full of loons and tried to become more of a product. But it failed at that and suffered for it.
As for the members, I don’t know enough about them to add a whole lot, but from what I know;
Ben is a decent webcomic artist, but that may just be because I like that style of drawing.
Munchey is a performance artist inspired by DeagleNation. And he could do well for himself if he gets serious. But now he seems to be focused on having fun.
Tom is sad.
No idea who Mage is.
Everyone else is to weird and fringe to get much of an audience.

Don't forget Davoo and Hippocrit. They seemed to be inspired by digibro's revelling in NEET autism but I think they both have retired now.

Yeah, but I honestly don’t know anything about them besides they are into weird shit.
Both of them had tiny YouTube channels. Both did media analysis bullshit thedavoo edited videos for digibro back when he was successful (way to get literally millions of views on video series and then drop it immediately afterwards lol classic digibro). Anyway davoo also lived with digibro for a while, he quit being his editor, quit YouTube and last he was talking he said some bullshit about being a game developer. God knows what he is doing now. Tom Oliver has a not too dissimilar arc. As for Hippocrit his lore is what I already mentioned. I wouldn't be surprised if he has gone off into another creative pursuit or just withdrawn from life as much as possible. PCP members seem to only have these two modes if they aren't doing YouTube.

Davoo got a "real" job according to Digi and his twitter while doing game development on the side and moved again with his GF. Hippocrit said before he had some gig with an animation studio helping with the writing and storyboards of shows, but it seemed only like a side gig. He mentioned doing some other real life work, but also seems to be trying some other online ventures to make money like the recent kickstarter thing that ties into the project he been working on. And Endless Jess is still roaming around because he is homeless.
