Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

To whoever was looking for Jonzie updates I got one (source provided the receipts but wants to be anon).

Alexys D. Jones, 23, of 57 Baker St., Norwalk, OH arrested 28 November for possession of heroin and criminal tools (a pocket gram scale she admit was used for weighing dope.) Plead guilty to both charges on May 29. Currently living with her mother again in Sandusky. Claims to have been an IV Fentanyl and heroin user and overdosed in November which led to arrest. Still sometimes tags herself at Cleveland Children's Hospital.

Can anyone shed any light on the IVIG craze? Specifically in that they say it is incredibly dangerous and that these individuals claim to be so brave and are suffering so much through 12 hr or 3 day treatments? Honestly people I know with cancer have complained less about chemo so just trying to see if my experience is correct.
If you have clotting risk factors it is a bit risky because it's a massive infusion of pretty thick stuff, and it causes some miserable side effects like severe migraines. More serious side effects like aseptic meningitis and hemolytic anemia can happen too but less commonly. Mostly it just takes forever and is kind of a drag. It is incredibly expensive and often in short supply so it's pretty awful that they are demanding it just for show.

Looking for IVIG when you don't need it is vampire-esque. People donate their plasma out of genuine goodness to help those in need. I find this trend so much worse than the time and hospital resources wasted on munchies. Literal parasites.

Exactly. At least a thousand donors are required to make one dose. Which is why the starting price for a bag is about ten grand, and it goes up depending on body size and what titration of dose is required for the condition being targeted. Oh it's also really rough on your kidneys and can eventually start to cause kidney failure, which is usually reversible, but it really doesn't pay to gamble on "usually" with end organs. So yeah.

I remember the outrage at Kelly for showing up at blood drives, I'm so surprised the same thing doesn't happen with these other girls who clearly don't need IVIG and considering the scale of donors involved it's in much shorter supply than blood and just as bad maybe worse. Perhaps it's just that people don't really know what IVIG is but everyone knows what blood is and that's the difference or maybe it's easier to associate yourself with someday needing a blood transfusion than an IVIG transfusion so people are more likely to kick up over wasting blood than plasma.

Wait, whoever Kelly is, she received blood then went to donate? That is really bad, ugh. Basically passing double the risk of infectious disease and complications onto whoever receives her blood. FYI if you know of someone doing this kind of thing you can send a tip to the Red Cross or whatever where they donated, blood banks have investigators whose whole job is to look into that kind of risk situation and crack down on it.

No sorry, I didn't explain that correctly. Vampire Kelly, we have a thread on her. The start of her thread was all about how she used to bleed herself and then get blood transfusions. She went to a blood drive to thank people for donating blood to save her life and iircc was on TV for that too. There was a lot of outrage because she was getting blood transfusions and then wasting it. I think the official story is that she had fibroids and heavy menstrual bleeding but shes a self harmer too so not everyone believes that story. It's a good thread if you are looking for some fucked up reading.

Kelly Ronahan, the vampire munchie. She got twice-weekly transfusions for likely autoexsanguination through her port for years, then pranced around donation drives personally thanking donors for saving her precious life.

That does explain the heroin-esq look she has going on. Also, I can't imagine the damaged caused by the anorexia combined with addiction. It's a wonder she didn't overdose sooner, since her body weight is so low.

What condition could a pediatrician still be treating at 23? A person with fentanyl addiction and port being inpatient at children's hospital is something else.

Edited to add: Be careful saying Kelly's name too much. If you say it three times, she pops up like beetlejuice to talk about herself.

Yeah that's real weird. Her hospital says it ages people out at 21 even if they have been patients there since they were babies. (I also don't remember her having a port, but maybe I missed it.)

I figured she was just back to starving herself to look like a fragile smol bean after Cleveland stopped treating her. But okay, heroin overdose. I guess that's one way to go about getting medical attention.

The only condition I know of where they go over 21 is congenital heart defects, because a lot of adult cardiologists don't know as much about them as the peds specialists do these days, since they are caught and fixed so early. I have heard of middle aged and elderly people going to see peds cards here for that.

She started out as an ana-chan, chased the EDS/GP/POTS combo, and settled into severe intractable epilepsy complete with tard helmet (but no residual effects of her supposed constant seizures.) I don't remember any congenital heart defects. I didn't see the hospital tagged posts so maybe she recycled old pics or was in an adult hospital and just tagged them to Children's.

YES, YOU ARE A GOD. Seriously, your snoop skills are top notch.

I've always wondered what happened to this crazy bitch. And this is somehow perfectly down the munchie road - so many of them become pain med addicts, and it ain't like the addiction goes away once you're discharged from the hospital.

Also how is she going to the Children's Hospital still? Isn't she over the age where a pediatrician would see her? (Even taking into account some see their patients longer because they've been the same doctor for years?) I wonder if she's still seeing Mama Bear....

Is that a new thing? I know two people who had congenital heart defects who were transferred from pediatricians. One had an obstructed/ narrowed pulmonary artery which eventually sorted itself out and the other had holes in his heart which he had several surgeries to fix and now just regular check ups. Or is it just certain condishuns?

Do we have a thread on Jonzie? I don't know this one.

...she voluntarily wears a tard helmet?

Okay I guess I have a new thread to read.
Alas, no thread. She was on the Munchausen by Internet and Pro-Ana Scumbags threads on LCF back in 2016-17 but she went underground. She started out wearing a beanie and trying to make it look like she has cancer. Then she bought herself a tard helmet. Now she seems to have gone back to the cancer beanie.

She also admit to causing most of her problems by eating soap and detergent in the past.

Probably depends on what resources are available locally. Sometimes they see the old peds doc because their repair was done using techniques no longer in use. I would imagine most people can make the transition, but some more complicated cases may need to see the specialist most familiar with their type of case.

Here's Jonzie at her best back in August 2017. The thing bunched up under her chin is a surgical mask with teddy bears she used to wear all the time. I don't know why she's on a puppy pad or why she has her gnarly shoes on her bed if she's super immune compromised.
That photo is hilarious. Maybe the piss pad was to catch the mess she no doubt made from eating her oats in such a ridiculous way.

(pdf link) this is how it's advertised to medical professionals

It's a hot mess and also expensive. Glad to see Stevens-Johnson show up on the side effect list because of fucking course.
