I’ve heard of patients asking a surgeon to cut their spinal cord at a certain level in hopes of ridding them of a painful spinal disorder. But, every doctor I know won’t do it because pain is complex and after some time, the brain may still feel the pain even if the limb or lower spine is paralyzed; not to mention the other issues with that. Plus there are other treatments like implantable pumps you can fill with numbing meds and pain meds. Are there even doctors out there anywhere that would purposely damage the spinal cord in order to paralyze someone? Or would this be part of treatment for one of her sooper speshul condishuns? Gotta say, I'm kinda disappointed in her munchie dedication. If you want to be paralyzed so bad, throw yourself off a building or in front of a car or something. Go big or STFU.
So, I very much doubt you could find a physician in the US willing to do that for any reason. All bets are off in other areas of the world that don’t have as strict of medical licensing or malpractice. It would probably take quite a bit of money to get them to consent to that regardless.
Edit: just read the article; says she’s found an overseas surgeon willing to cut her nerves for $25,000. Crazy town.
