I agree with this 100%. This is addiction compensation 101, where he's trying desperately to justify his bad behavior. It will never be his fault, or the booze's fault, it will always be someone else, someone close to him. Really sucks too, because you'd figure doing a year's time for punching a cop while drunk would be the rock bottom that gets you sober, but it looks like Ethan is going to have to lose everything he's built and worked for.
edit: It seemed that for a while he was able to moderate his drinking, and he drank with his probation officer's permission, but he's gone way overboard. He needs to do inpatient to get sober, and then he needs some sort of structured program to stay that way. He just cannot handle alcohol responsibly. And that's okay, but he needs to recognize that.

From what I understand mixing the two won't outright kill you, it'll just cause you to black out and do dumb shit.

"Dumb shit" includes inhaling your own vomit, multiple organ failure, or just CNS depression to the point you stop breathing. Those can happen with just alcohol, but they become increasingly likely when you mix it.

Mixing xanax and booze is the sort of thing that can cause you to fall asleep and stop breathing...

Though with Ralph I think it's more likely he falls asleep somewhere he shouldn't and takes a swing at someone he shouldn't when they shake him awake to tell the apparently homeless bum to GTFO.

I don't get why Ralph wants to push the aspirin narrative. Why the fuck would he be mixing aspirin and alcohol "45 times" (never heard pills audibly on any stream before this one) when the bottle of aspirin specifically says not to take it if you've had 2 or more alcoholic drinks? That combination is awful for your stomach lining, liver, and kidneys, and that's not taking into account the blood thinning action of aspirin.

If he's actually taking aspirin that often he needs to see a fuckin doctor. But we all know it isn't aspirin. Just some thoughts.
