Gamestop treats their employees like shit and threatens to fire them unless they do shady shit. I quit going to Gamestop after an employee tried to sneak a used copy of a game I asked for into the bag with a few others. The used copy was being sold for more than a new copy.

Another reason GameStop has been overloading their shelves with merchandise is because they’ve been trying to evolve into a “geek pop culture” store. Essentially a more autistic Hot Topic with video games.
Hot Topic went down hill the day the stocked "Here Comes Dat Boi" shirts. Or if you wanna be really cynical when it went from a Gothic store to a GoTHICC store

Buddy of mine got fired from Gamestop because he forgot to ask about the shitty rewards card ONCE.

This reminds me of record stores circa like a decade, decade and a half ago, where they just started pumping in so much kitsch and garbage in an attempt to generate any kind of revenue.

This is sad news, as ThinkGeek has had one of the largest collections of high-quality exclusive merch out there
God bless the corporate media.

And then they follow that quote up with examples like a Picard facepalm bust, a Pokeball waffle maker, a Rick and Morty T-shirt, and a Zelda doormat. Actually, I like the Zelda doormat, since if I showed up at a house with one of those I'd know not to go inside.

Thinkgeek actually did used to carry some interesting stuff before they started pandering to the "I CLAPPED BECAUSE I KNOW THAT THING" crowd.

My think geek is the only place in town that has anime stuff. SH FigureArts, Gunpla.Nendroid,Figmas etc etc so it sucks they are going under cause I got no where else to look at and say "eh I could get that cheaper."

The ONE positive experience I've ever had at a Gamestop was getting the Teddie bop-bag preorder bonus for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax around six months after the game came out. Only bad thing about this is that some people are going to lose jobs.

Last time I went to Gamestop was almost 5+ years ago when I owned a PS3 for a minute and I wanted to buy the Wolverine game. I found a copy for about $20 and went up to the register where this manager I recognize from when Electronics Boutique was a thing but now working at a different Game Stop (last I checked there were 3 stores within a 5 mile radius of each other because reasons). Guy kept pressuring me to buy credit, sign up for this and that, I said no to everything and he had a passive Comic Book Guy attitude about it. I bought the Wolverine game and never returned. I felt nothing but pity for the guy for being a manager of a game store for over 10 years.

I wasted so much money at GameStop I can't wait for it to finally go under.

Wish I knew about Brick n Morter game stores during my brief times of living in the United States. I knew of Play n Trade but that didn't do it for me.
