Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
First time posting here so let me know if I should change anything. I recently came across a rare male munchie on insta. His handle is @spooniespencer. Of course, he has EDS, POTS, MCAS, Doesn't have GP but wishes he did. Has AFOs, crutches, and a vog mask. The typical spoonie starter pack.

"Spencer" eh? And looks about 8 years old. GOTTA be a FTM.

Definitely FTM, probably piggybacking off Julien/Logan since they've all got the same starterpacks/illnesses. I'm not sure what the max is for opiates but I know end-stage cancer patients who are maxed on opiate tolerance have like fentanyl patches and pumps and dilauded for breakthrough. If he's angling this fast for even dilauded she's gonna have a bad time.

I don't think it's possible to munch your way into the back issues he claims

Anything is possible when you lie. I don't see hard evidence of kyphosis, and it's a rare type of EDS. I could be wrong, but I say prove it! See image of kyphosis type EDS

I see what you mean but I was more referring to degenerative disc disease. I don't know how that can be faked a few x-rays and an mri will show if he has it or not. I don't know anything about EDS but cervical kyphosis can be caused by degenerative disc disease too. He might have a mild form of it if he has it at all which wouldn't cause any symptoms but what I was trying to point out is that he has listed DX's which are really symptoms of one disease.

I check that out with every munchie we talk about because I think it's a common thing for them to list symptoms as separate illnesses or over a period of time a patient can be diagnosed with one thing which gets reassessed as something else and I think that they might be just listing every single DX they ever received rather than what they are actually being treated for.

Also, I found another possible FTM munchie for anyone craving one.
here's the best seizure clip i've come across yet. there is another one in the same post that looks much more dramatic but the dx is vague and non-epileptic sooooo, i'm not sure. but everything is OTT and the diagnoses get collected like pokemon.

Here's some more from @loganandoliver
Has more condishuns than anyone, loves to post vomit, blood and IV pics, a doctor said once that a service dog might be good, so "service' dog acquired. misbehaving mutt with a handle like blind people use. The dog wasn't tagged for being a seizure dog until they decided to start having them and hashtagging them.

Jan of 2018 the hashtags included Dysautonomia, EDS, POTS, Migraine, SPD, GP and narcolepsy. Soon after they added a wide array of mental health hashtags unrelated to the post. In Feb there was a feeding toob, April, MCAS got added to the list, and in Aug the seizure hashtag appeared. Not until late August was there a sleep study to confirm or rule out narcolepsy, but instead of that, OCD and tourettes got added to the list of condishuns.

Here's a few posts

Our new friend recently posted a “staged” autism meltdown next to a “staged seizure” video to apparently show their service dog’s response. Definitely doesn’t just further suggest that all of their seizure videos are “staged”... (see: the last one they posted with extensive trigger warnings because THIS ONES REEL GUISE)

There's more "drop seizures" in this highlight. so convenient to have the camera on.
I laugh so hard when I watch those that i fall over just like that.
Holy fuck hahaha. What really killed me was the slide before her "drop attack" that said real in parentheses.

Also what is with these people with POTS and the obsessive vital monitering? I can understand when you're trying to find what's wrong with you, but once you know there really isn't a point. Like...you can feel that your heartrate is high, they act like theyre gonna die or something.

I think they do that because they can switch around problems when they don't get what they want (in spencer/logan's case in this example) they can just present with something else. All these possible angles still somewhat tie into their initial issues but it sure makes getting that sweet sweet opiates more of an eventuality or ports/iv treatment depending on what their main goals are. In the end they're manipulating their doctors and audiences because they can explain virtually anything.

its so sad, and gross at the same time.

Ohhhhh lol. I was like no way this person has kyphosis type EDS. But general kyphosis... sure. Lots of people do. Back pain can be debilitating, but again, lots of people have some degree of disc degeneration... although maybe not teens. That can be very tough, but you can't just throw opiates a teen for life, which they clearly are trying to not do.

This was the first person I was introduced to that would be a Munchie so I will share her with you all now:

She fits the profile she is supposedly DID, BIID, autistic, etc.
Little extra info: She was kicked out of a DID group for faking DID which is how i heard of her.

Her periods have stopped but she bought sanitary towels? Is she lying about it or just being optimistic? Long term effects of a TENS machine made me lol, I do however think they can be useful for pain management. (Powerlevel but relevant, I had a rotator cuff tear and used to use one on my shoulder for pain relief while on the waiting list for surgery. I found it helped).

You can still get a really brown low leak crusty dried up looking form of a period when starving.

In poor taste but I can't help myself.

"However, she has been supported by her former fiancé Mike, 50, who is registered legally blind - although in his case due to naturally occurring early-onset macular degeneration."

Literally the blind leading the blind.

i find that Body Dysmorphia phenomenon is more related to the trans world and their beliefs ( rather that just a spoonie munchie issue) . Such people in pursuit of disabilty have been referred to as transabled.

interestingly in the case of the transabled people is seen as a MENTAL ISSUE. Hmmmm. Meanwhile the trans rest of sex trans world insist that this is not a mental issue at all..

jesus what kind of nutcase psychiatrist would help her blind herself?!

I watched the Dr.Phil episode on her. I believe they contacted whoever the guy was, he denied doing it and didn't have a license to practice medicine in any state. This is going from memory tho. Basically, he was just a weirdo. He didn't come on a show, just gave a statement.
