Swing and a miss dude. You're also the fattest person that lives in this building so I wouldn't bring up people's weights.

JY just hung up a rainbow flag on on his balcony yesterday. Strata rules say nothing can be hung on the balcony. How much do you want to bet he's doing this so that strata approaches him to take it down and he will get his own article in the local paper? After all the articles he's posted this week about that one woman he wants his time in the sun. He's so fucking transparent. Thankfully everyone in here hates him so will back strata.

Did he literally just like tie it over the railing?

Do the strata rules allow for any form of decoration on the balcony, or flags if someone installs a flagpole mount or something like that?

edited to add: i'm just curious like if someone could hang a windchime, windsock, hanging flower basket, installt a flagpole mount, etc. Would there be an "approved" way to get either (a) any kind of flag at all, or (b) a non-flag decoration like a rainbow windsock?

Tied over the front railing. No, nothing is allowed to be hung there. I am curious to see how this one's going to go down though. Luckily everyone on strata knows about #WaxMyBalls and is way smarter than JY.

Thank you. Let me rephrase; I understand that he can't hang something off the balcony railing (I can see safety issues with that should the thing fall down), but I'm wondering if there is a "right" way to decorate the balcony in any way at all. Could he hang a flagpole mount off his door frame? Could he hang it inside his window? Could he install a hook from the balcony ceiling for a wind sock? Have a patio table with a rainbow umbrella? Any sort of thing like that? I'm just trying to figure out if it's the difference between "No, you can't hang a flag at all, we allow no flags anywhere whatsoever," versus "no, it's unsafe to hang a flag here, if you want to hang a flag you need to mount it on a pole on the wall like everybody else does."

Well as the strata bylaws are written it'd be questionable to hang any flag but there are no rules explicitly against it. It's more about keeping balconies clean and free of junk. The way the property is set up balconies are owned by the strata and grant the property owner the right to use them. So you can't install hardware or screw anything into structure because it's not your property.

I guess he could hang the flag inside his unit but even then there are bylaws around making sure everyone uses the same blinds to ensure a uniform look plus he has the smallest unit with only 2 windows so if he blocks one with a flag he's living in darkness.

He could probably hang it from a patio umbrella if he could get one to fit on his balcony but it's a covered balcony so he'd get no wind. Probably need two umbrellas and string it between the two.

I can see JY purposely hanging a rainbow flag solely as a confrontational attempt to claim transphobia where none exists and do either or both of two options:
  • File a HRT complaint against the Strata for perceived transphobia, even if there are rules to prohibit anything from being hung on a porch without regard to sexual identity.
  • Make a demand at the next TOL meeting that the council adopt legislation that would prevent anyone from banning rainbow flags or other LGBTetc emblems.
Either way, JY would stay in the spotlight and continue to claim to be a transgendered advocate, thus getting more attention and publicity as @WGkitty speculated -- even though JY would invariably ask to be identified with an anonymous alias all the while bragging about filing the complaint on social media.

Either of these two would be pretty fucking amazing though. If he brings strata to the human rights tribunal my strata is getting listed as the defendant and suddenly his address gets posted publically online.

All strata bylaws are provincial jurisdiction, if his plan is to go to TOL about it he again proves publically he's a moron. Although he's already tried to get the township to censor the internet and now wants them to supercede federal laws about single use plastics so it's just more gas on the fire.

Hahaha I love that someone came by to take this picture. He's moved things around now though. He bought a trans rights flag and has it inside the railing and rainbow flag is now screwed into the top beam of his balcony. He's for sure gearing up to fight strata publically over this.

Can you confirm whether the person he thought was you was some shade of not-white? It seems likely to me that he just picked the first minority he saw.

I’ve also lived in places where you have to have specific curtain colors. I should have sued because gender affirming curtains are a human right.
