TGWTG Nostalgia Chick / Lindsay Ellis / TheDudette - aka Hotdogs in face girl

How so? I thought they went along like box wine and lonely aunts.
My understanding of the situation is that Mara came out to Lindsay as bisexual, whereupon Lindsay insinuated that Mara was "faking it". Pretty rich, considering that Lindsay is the most obvious fake bisexual on the planet. Talk about projection.

This is in addition to the donut shop incident @StarkRavingMad described. Apparently things were going south between them before that. That whole episode was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

Good on Mara for getting out of there. Being friends with Lindsay must be exhausting.

Imagine having to wait an entire year for your honeymoon, and then finally going only to spend time on the internet, bitching on Twitter.

She sounds SO FUN to be around.
Maybe "Mr Lin" had the vacation time all along but was strategically sandbagging to avoid spending intense alone time with the lunatic he realized he mistakenly married.

Lindsay let someone know it's totally cool to ignore and shun art based on their perception of the type of people who like it.

Pop culture critic, never heard of the Undertale fandom.

???

??????

At this point I think "pop culture"="Disney" and not much else for these guys. And even shit like Undertale is hardly something obscure. But I find Lindsey and critics like her to be shockingly shallow in her tastes and interests.

And that is a shit approach to liking or not liking something, because a fandom is a trash fire does not mean to avoid a thing you like. Because if you dig deep enough, ALL fandoms are trash fires. Just stay out of the fandoms and you will be fine.

You know who also drank water.

litterally hitler.

Lindsay has sunk to the level of lazy and self righteous I don't like something so I'll use a moral high ground to avoid doing it. I can deff smell the "what do you mean as reviewer I have to watch movies I don't want to, well how do I weasel out of this" as her motivation.

Idk, Lindsay makes a good point for once. I loved Star Wars until cunts like her and others got involved to shit all over it, reeeeee about diversity, overanalyzing/“critiquing” it and sucking out all the fun.

I watched a couple of the new movies on an airplane and haven’t bought any books or any games since the prequels. Star Wars can fuck off and die.

Edit: I should clarify, she’s wrong about fans ruining something because it wasn’t the fans who ruined Star Wars for me. It was the nonfans like Lindsay who didn’t care about it until a few years ago and started making a big stink.

I've got the impression that Lindsay Ellis despises YouTube as a medium, and sees it as almost beneath her. There's no real gatekeeper with YouTube, so it's not a requirement say that someone have a degree in film before posting a video. She doesn't just want acknowledgement that her content is good, she wants recognition for her expertise.

I think it explains why she's cut back on making videos on her own channel in order to make videos for PBS online that are getting less views. She doesn't want to be on YouTube she wants to be on PBS, but she doesn't have the connections for that, so she's reduced to making content for a PBS branded YouTube channel.

I didn't particularly like the New Jedi Order, but it would have been vastly better than the new shit they came up with, so I've watched the whole IP get brutally raped, twice.

I would never hate something because of a Toxic fandom. Hell there are a lot of things I like that have a fan base I’m embarrassed to share the same species as, much less hobby or interest (Rick and Morty fans, looking at you).

But hey, if the thing is good, I will watch it and experience it and then stay the hell away from the psycho fans.

But I find it funny that Lindsey is talking about this when she is part of the cultish group of weirdos that make most fan bases toxic in the first place.

I mean My Little Pony, Stephen Universe, Avatar, Voltron, Supernatural...those seem to be breeding grounds for SJW wackos.

I love Avatar: TLA with every fiber of my soul but I despise its fan base.

If I cared about “toxic fandoms” I wouldn’t play video games or enjoy them so much. I avoid cesspools like Neogaf, resetera, Twitter, SA’s gaming forum, Reddit, etc. I chat about games with my buds and occasionally here.

That’s what normal people do, they ignore the idiots who share their hobbies and enjoy what they want. If the new Star Wars films were any good and not filled with ridiculous plot holes, boring/terrible characters/actors, and the death of my favorites, I’d still be watching them regardless of what Lindsay and other idiots say or do. The movies are just god awful as are all the idiots who started writing books and cramming trannies and race in them for no reason other than to virtue signal.

But she doesn't really have the I dunno, "talent"? to be anymore than a researcher or basic youtuber informer. I suppose now that she has connections she knows a lot of big people in Cali tech and media, she thinks should be getting more than what she is. But literally everything she is today is from writing and acting out comedy reviews for TGWTG, she owes pretty much 90% of what she is today to that. And she's taken a giant dump on them. She's still most well known as Nostalgia Chick and Hotdog in face chick.

But she doesn't want that, she wants to be an intellectual..... but still talk about Disney movies and Fantasy Fiction. Just comes across as a narcissistic girl that just wanted a different "image" for herself. And sees the idea of the "Nostalgia Chick" character beneath her.

I thought deconstructing Transformers using various strands of film theory was an interesting idea, and actually fairly well executed. She was also quite clever in the way that she chose a franchise that's massive yet the majority of whose fan base know is essentially shit.

She's not like say Anita Saarkesian who compensates for not having a deep understanding of the concepts she's spouting by immersing herself in dogma, she actually does know what she's talking about, her problem is a different one, she moved into the YouTube scene early in her career and has had a reasonable success, but that's never going to translate to the mainstream, she'll always be a youtuber, and even her fellow mainstream media SJW's won't welcome her moving outside her current medium.

Everyone will agree obnoxious fans will likely hamper your enjoyment of anything. But if you refuse to try something, solely because of some bad eggs, that's extremely unprofessional from a """critic""". That sort of mindset becomes extremely pathetic when you translate that into IRL hobbies, like not reading anything anymore due to an objectively bad review of a book.

But she doesn't want that, she wants to be an intellectual..... but still talk about Disney movies and Fantasy Fiction.
Her delivery on everything she makes is too casual to take her content too seriously. Doesn't matter what she's making videos about; it's just going to come off as someone casually discussing a piece of media.
