If he were really serious about this he would be checking himself into a rehab facility. Physically, he can't quit without medical intervention. And that says nothing about the mental aspect of addiction, which is a bitch to overcome without some sort of counseling, especially if you don't have a regular 9-to-5 to keep you busy and obligated to a routine.

This. If he means serious business, he should know enough to contact a professional. He may not need rehab, but certainly needs activity to right the course and keep him away from just sitting around drinking. Honestly idk why he isn't doing that already, if I made enough cash to live just with shitposting no way I wouldn't find a comfy, easy job with hours I choose that gets some extra cash in-pocket. Get a workout routine, get some wagie work, go to AA, and find irl stuff to keep occupied without draining the desire to stream.
He told me he's done it a couple of times when he made that phone call that seems ages ago. I don't think he's a full-fledged tweaker though, he might be doing the Andy Warski route and abusing ADHD medication.
It's quite possible he's embellishing. It's likely he feels like he's been up that long. One is not able to achieve REM state while sleeping when going to bed drunk. I am assuming he doesn't do Xanax nightly, but he certainly drinks himself into a stupor daily/nightly. He probably hasn't achieved REM state in some time. One of the many ways alcoholism kills.
