Took me a bit to figure out how to efficiently download from Dlive. Their instructions for VLC sorta work but VLC kept jumping back to the beginning of the stream after about 32 minutes in. Youtube-dl will appear to download from the .m3u8 but when it was done, the output was only about 32 minutes... which is right around when the VLC problem happened. Tried using ffmpeg to do it, that didn't work. Also tried a Chrome add-on that only output a 5 minute video. Finally found a Perl script linked via Stack Overflow that downloads all the .ts files into one. VLC still doesn't like it (again the 32min length), but Handbrake had no problem converting it to an .mp4 in only about 20 minutes. I think their .ts files are fucked up somehow that is tripping up youtube-dl and VLC.

I'll try to keep up with this in a timely manner. The main archive channels will have it up faster but they are doing screen captures so they will suffer from dlive player issues and page refreshes. Downloading the replay eliminates that problem.

I have 2 methods of downloading from DLive.
1st is using Internet Download Manager - it'll put a button on any video that you can click to download it. I only use this method for replays, don't know how it works for streams still going.
You can also use Streamlink to download it from the command line, this works while the stream is still going as well.
I use the command:
streamlink --hls-live-restart [DLive m3u8 / YouTube URL] best -o [filename].ts

Edit: also, if you have a TS file with incorrect timestamps, try running this:
ffmpeg -i [inputfile].ts -c:v copy -c:a copy [outputfile].ts
Doesn't re-encode it (so it's basically instant), just copies the video and audio into a new file which regenerates whatever data manages timestamps. I've had it fix DLive TS files in the past.

I just tried an option for youtube-dl that I've been meaning to try and it seems to work better.

youtube-dl --hls-prefer-native "URL to m3u8 playlist"

Makes it use the native hls downloader instead of ffmpeg. Downloaded Ralphs latest no problem straight to mp4 and even fixed "malformed AAC bitstream" after. So I'll give that a try from now on. Will save a lot of time vs my current method so I don't have to transcode with Handbrake after download.

So besides getting ass mad at boomers and what remains of the skeptics what does Jim actual do? What content does he make? It feels like he’s nothing more then a bitter doomer husk taking it out on low hanging pre hated groups, so people can clap and give him money because “he hated on the thing!”

I partially wonder if he got this from his fan base or he attracted more of a bitter sad brain audience later on.

Ah, another "jim doesn't actually make content" critique. I've noticed that almost always posts like these are usually made to veil some kind of dissatisfaction with Jim because he won't make fun of a particular group or person that the poster thinks he should. Or they're upset Jim did make fun of someone they happen to like. So which is it with you?

I like his videos more especially deviants and tgwtg, but I am a whore and will take what I can get content wise considering I don't gib shekels.

An enormous chunk of popular YouTube channels are little more than some variation of "hot take" channels, at least Jim has the ability to cobble together good jokes.
