Trump Enslavement Syndrome - Orange man good. /r/The_Donald and any public demonstration of rabid pro-Trump enthusiasm in spite of all reason.

Hey guys, did you see where I said how it's pointless to engage with Trump worshipers because they don't argue in good faith and actively seek to antagonize people? (For more information on the mindset of the cultists, I recommend the excellent The Authoritarians by Bob Altemeyer.)

Finally, Reddit decided to make TD suffer for the consequences of the actions. Repeatedly, they used obnoxious tactics to irritate people and they have been warned to stop doing that. They refused, so they changed the algorithm so they can't exploit it. Act in bad faith, suffer the consequences. This is, however, something they can't understand due to their persecution complex. You'll see this sort of right-wing reaction to opposition repeatedly.

One frequent tactic is to whataboutism over to Antifa, Obama or whatever. They try to set up a false moral equivalence between themselves and those they don't like, much like the Soviet Union and its human rights abuses. Another tactic is to make up bizarre conspiracy theories that the only reason they fail is because of some big, powerful entity opposing them. You see this in various flavors - QAnon, Deep State, Pizzagate, Antifa super soldiers, Da Jooz (an all-time classic), you name it.
So even though we BOTH know reddit wanted to shut down The Donald for a while, I think threatening a guerrilla war over politicians being scumbags is as good a reason as any. "Muh 2nd Amendment" types regularly salivate over the prospect of blowing away anyone who comes to take their guns, be it cops or anybody else. They're a bunch of violent jackass Rambo wannabes and I got no sympathy for them finally learning LARPing has consequences.
"If you want my guns, you can come take them from my cold, dead hands." Yeah, let's see what your AR-15 does against an M113 APC. Good luck!

Are we talking about r/the_donald guys or everyone that voted for Trump?

We were finally were starting to get a coherent discussion in this thread and your response is to call anyone who voted for Trump a cultist? To tell people not to even try and communicate with them? To compare them with the Soviet Union? Maybe you aught to look in a mirror, religious devotion to dogma and hatred of outsiders isn't exclusive to a party.

It could apply to nearly everyone who continues to support him, which obviously includes TD. There's a lot of people who regret their vote, of course, and by definition, they're capable of understanding what mistakes are.

(On that note, you can also see this conspiracy type thinking on polls showing the vast majority of the public opposes Trump, and right-wing ideology in general, and it only survives due to measures like gerrymandering, voter suppression and the electoral college. You see the conspiracy theories in response to that in the favor of undocumented immigrants voting, the Deep State™ and other such nonsense.)

LOL, calm down.

It's not like the left doesn't have their own share of conspiracies and batshit loonies, whether it be Russian collusion, the Patriarchy, or "We Wuz Kangz"

You can cry and bitch about "muh whataboutism" but stupidity is not limited to one side of the political spectrum and neither is extremism.

And extremism of all kinds is the perfect magnet for dickheads, morons, and other stupid people.

"REPENT! AND THOU SHALT BE SAVED!"

No offense but you are coming off as the polar opposite of the r/the_donald guys.

If the threats to the cops are actually edited by the admins, then this is a dumb move and really questionable about how Reddit is gonna be ban happy and be very biased.

If they are real and made by the regulars of T_D themselves, then I agree with the quarantine, but don't know why other places like Chapo made multiple threads making threats to the cops but only got warned instead, and my point still stands on the huge bias on Reddit.

Reddit is a fucking joke and anyone on reddit deserves to get cucked. Still, really? As if Congress isn't already champing at the bit to fuck these scumbags without blatant bullshit like this.
I honestly doubt congress will do a thing to reddit, but google certainly seems suspiciously upset about the PV video

Its worth pointing out The CEO of Reddit did a joint AMA with a US Senator Ron Wyden from Oregon about a month ago (archive). This is important, since the stated impetus for the quarantine was violent threats against cops Oregon over to the ongoing legislative game of hide a seek to prevent some environmental legislation going though.

In that thread very thread, the CEO explained why T_D was not banned, it was downvoted to hell as you would expect.

Either way, Reddit is stuck in a catch-22 when it comes to T_D: either have your hornet's nest of a userbase at your throat or possibly piss off the most powerful man in the world. My guess is the qurentine was a compromise of sorts.

no we don't

Good lord :neckbeard::neckbeard::neckbeard:

You uh, might wanna head back to Reddit if you're here to get mad at boogeymen. We here on the Farms like to make fun of both sides regardless of who you voted for. You should laugh with us, it's more fun than making us laugh at you.

What a bunch of bullshit. There are constant death threats against cops on all the shitty antifa terrorist boards and they don't do shit.

bad faith

"muh bad faith"

You need to go back.

I've already pissed off around a half dozen people just by saying that Trump supporters don't argue in good faith. Doesn't seem like there's a high bar for exceptionalism.

I think the bar was passed when people decided a thread made to laugh at exceptional individuals on reddit decided to get especially exceptional and argue about politics and shootings.

Also @TiberianWizardry I'm glad you believe in things that give you meaning, but this is not the thread to argue actual politics.

Probably said it better than I did.
