Offering legal advice and/or services to a resident of California who stands to be possibly sued in Texas seems like it'd be a pretty ill-advised course of action, given that both California and Texas have "unauthorized practice of law" statutes (CA BPC § 6126, TX PENAL § 38.123) that say if you're not recognized by their State Bar Association, you aren't a lawyer in State, nor authorized to practice law there.

But hey, what do I know. I'm certainly no New York Super Lawyer. #LawTwitter

I say more than likely, she got subpoena'd to testify about something. She has to pay for the trip herself afaik unless she wants to fail to show up to court.
Probably not necessarily related to the depositions, unless BHBH already had an email/summons prepped to be sent if her name was brought up because it seems too fast.

Nobody would fly her cross country. They teleconference that sort of thing these days. They arrange a location near her such as a lawyers office and bridge it in. As an example in the Meyer v Waid depos from last month, Meyer and Waid weren't in the same room, or the same state.

Besides can you imagine the freight charges on hauling her that far?

If she needs to fly to Texas she can go to the airport stretch her arms out level get a running start and start flapping. Those arms are an evolutionary gift! Or she can pony up her own cash and buy an flight ticket! Take responsibility for her own actions for once!
