Inactive Andrew Dobson / Tom Preston / CattyN - STOP DOING SEXIST CRAP

I was bored so had a quick look at people he reblogs from that aren't from the OP.

I was watching a video on TLJ, in which the creator of it opined that if only Haldo had one line of dialogue it could have fixed a lot that was wrong with the movie. If you recall, she's basically just a crabby bitch in the movie and the only thing she does of any note is use her ship as a hyperspace kamikaze. However, if she had simply told Poe (or anyone else), that she was being secretive because the FO was tracking them, and the obvious answer was there could be a spy onboard, then suddenly she has a motivation. That in turn gives Poe, Finn and Rose more motivation and raises the stakes because of all the paranoia they'd have. Anyway, it made me wonder if they did shoot a scene where she explained it, and it was left out of that overly-long-ass-feeling movie. As for the rest, I started to wonder what else got cut, and what got cut from TFA. I didn't buy the discs, but is there any deleted scenes that explain how Rey can do all this shit in TFA? I might be more forgiving if there were, but Dobbo would just say it wasn't canon or some shit since it was off-screen.

you notice how when hacks try to write "strong female" they always end up with "crazy frumpy bitch"?

the idea of writing characters who aren't flat seems to be too much for most people nowadays, and we're just getting women who scream "I WANT STUFF, FUCK YOU, I HAVE A PUSSY!" over and over.

when the idea of a woman having a flaw causes your average writer to have some trauma and needing a porg to hug, you can't help but get "asshole with a heart of gold" without the heart of gold

I doubt it. Having discussed the issue with someone of my acquaintance who dips her toe into tumblr feminism, her reaction to the idea of Haldo explaining herself in any way whatsoever was "She shouldn't have to." Considering that was clearly who the character was meant to appeal to, I don't think it ever crossed their minds to have her do anything but stubbornly order the known maverick and wildcard to fall in line and then be angered and appalled when he didn't. Poe was supposed to obey her because she was a woman and in charge and the fact that he didn't do so blindly is meant to be a fatal flaw for him.

The movie establishes that Luke knows a few things about piloting and he might learn a few things from Han while they are underway. When he gets into an X-Wing, he's decent, but he's not "Fly the Falcon for the first time, still outmaneuver space superiority fighters while going through a maze inside a Star Destroyer-husk" amazing.
He's not "literally first shot ever with the Falcon's turret scores a tripple kill" amazing.

Luke would not have hit the shaft without Ben helping him a little. This was deemed something regular pilots can achieve, though.
Meanwhile, Rey fixes the Falcon in record time, despite not knowing how it works, she flies it expertly, despite never having done that, she then again fixes it in a way that even the owner is surprised by... and that's just the shit she pulls off in the first couple minutes and we haven't even yet gotten into how she's the most potent Force user ever, despite not even knowing the Force existed just a day ago.

So, sure. Luke's a total Mary Sue, after all, he has to train hard (on screen!) for everything he can do and then still struggles to succeed.
Totally the same as Rey just waltzing through 2 movies, never failing at anything on her first attempt.

Which is kind of hilarious. You'll have a fanzine with art by random teenagers and people in their early 20s, who merely draw for a hobby, all making amazing art with great line-variety, great colors, gorgeous composition... and then you have Dobson. Almost 40 years old. Has been an "artist" since childhood. Was a "professional" for at least 20 years. He even went to an art college specialised in cartoons.
And he draws blocky characters with atrocious anatomy, messed up composition, colors that look jarring and shading that makes everything look like cheap chinese plastic.

It's literally this scene, but unironic and no one is impressed:
Sadly true. I’m still baffled that because he didn’t want to deal with paper and pencil, he jumped straight into digital art without having any knowledge of any sort of art basics.

Since we all know that Dobson sucks at doing jobs but also sucks at being a “professional artist” so what sort of job do y’all think he’d be good at?

I say, political blogger, certainly has the knowledge and the will to twist facts like one.

Nah, the only subject he can type more than a paragraph at a time about is himself. He also wouldn't be able to handle the comment section, and a political blog without a comment section is going to have fewer followers than his tumblr currently does.

I honestly can't think of anything he would be sincerely good at. Like I'm not kidding, I'm going over what we know about him in my head, honestly trying to think of something that he's displayed any sincere passion for or ability with in the last few years and there's... nothing. His combination of laziness, stupidity, and mean-spiritedness makes him completely unsuitable for almost anything. He's probably actually living his best life possible right now... pushing out a handful of lazy, traced comics every so often for a small handful of asspats from people with low standards.

Anything else would require him to change at least something about himself, and as we've seen that is anathema to him. Starting all the way back with "let me develop at my own pace", Dobson has rejected the idea that he needs to change. In some twisted way he already thinks he's perfect, so he'll never move beyond where he is right now.

Dobson would love that, having people give him money and asspats for what he says on Twitter all day but I think he realises that people only pay attention to his opinion when he puts it in a comic.

It seems like it’s the only reason he continues to draw ‘professionally’, if people gave him patron donations for just stating his opinions on Twitter I doubt he’d ever draw more than fan art and his favourite ships.

But anyway I think he’d be an okay YouTuber, be it mini documentaries, let’s plays or just rants, the problem being he’s too lazy to do it regularly.

I just realized something about something from earlier.

Remember when it looked like Dobson had actually photoshop filtered someone's painting rather than the screenshot the painting was based on? It turned out he probably had used the screenshot, but he still ignored, blocked, and deleted anyone that claimed that he'd traced someone else's art. It was wondered why he'd do that if he hadn't actually traced someone else's art, and there's one major reason I think of. (Several other possibilities, but eh I'll just hit the main one.)

The most likely explanation is that he probably does just go to google image search and search for a picture to trace/filter, likely picking one of the first few results due to his extreme laziness. So when he saw someone accuse him of art theft, he probably thought he had. That was likely his immediate thought, "Oh shit I thought it was a screenshot, better cover this shit up before more people see it." His first thought was to assume he was guilty and try to hide said guilt. He didn't defend himself probably primarily because he didn't know for sure at the time he did it that he was innocent.

I think it's actually a little simpler than that: he views accusations of tracing and art theft as criticism, and as THOAD shows, he does not take criticism well. He has no concept of guilt or shame, and his tracing of third-party images is a well-documented habit.
Dobson is a pretty simple man.

The “bullseye womp rats” line removes the need for any explanation. The context infers everything you need to know.

At this point maybe Disney will give the damn thing its own movie.

All insults should be formatted like this I think.
That’s just Dobson’s classic style of debate, he clearly doesn’t understand the main point of an argument, so he instead attempts to focus on extremely trivial aspects of the argument in an attempt to find something he can use to stump the other person. The problem is, this usually ends up making him look even more like an idiot than he did when he started the petty argument.

For example, imagine you’re in math class and the teacher asks: “if Timmy has 6 apples and Suzy has 5, and Timmy gives 3 apples to Suzy how many apples do they both have?”

Dobson would be the type to reply: “well, we don’t know exactly what KIND of apples they are so I can’t even begin to answer that. Aren’t you supposed to be teaching us? Why give us such a vague problem to work with?”

An by this point the teacher would just facepalm and say "God you're the dumbest fat fuck I've ever had in this class...."

He did a couple on animation which to be fair to Dobson is probally the best thing he's ever done, although that might be a low bar -

That's what Dobson sounds like in real life? Holy shit, he actually doesn't have a bad voice. I'm talking about in the second one of course.

He could be a decent narrator if he put his mind to it.

Small exchange about his 2 Mario maker videos where Dobson kinda brags:

No, Dobson, you exceptional individual, it looks easy because it IS easy. It's easy because it's fucking predictable. Rows upon rows of fire bars doing the wave is the definition of predictable. Now, if the fire bars were each on a different timing, THEN it might be harder.

Someone mades a decent point about Rey in TFA vs Luke:
