I agree, but are these the same people though? It's been like 20 years.

Plus a good part of it is the performance itself. Hearing comparison videos show a lot more energy and unique personality in the original. In particular, there's this one moment where there's a filter because the two kids are underwater that they removed in the Netflix dub for reasons I simply can't fathom.

i for one know that at least a number of them are the same as i know some people IRL that have for years bitched that the dub was shit because it wasn't literal and now bitch "BUT MUH GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYS"

AWL isn't the only Read or Die VA who's a disappointment, JB Blanc, who voiced Joker in the Read or Die TV series (no, not the Batman character), who you may also know as the alien bad guy in Saints Row 4 or most recently Kano in Mortal Kombat 11, posts a lot of anti-Trump stuff on Twitter.

He's not crazy like AWL, just a garden variety liberal, still disappointing though.

She's not entirely banished. She's been Yukiko Amagi from Persona 4 in every type of P4 game after the original on PS2. But that's no doubt been her biggest role. Everything else is niche stuff by Nippon Ichi/Idea Factory/Etc. She's not gone, just either uncredited or working smaller gigs. The only people who'd recognize her name are weebs in their 30's, or people who buy the niche stuff.

Did I tell you about the time when I was a voice actress for ADV?! One of their best voices and the lovable character Rei Ayanami from Evangelion! I once spoke 4 sentences in one episode!

she has said she is semi-retired as a voice-actress,which is why she doesn't get that many roles these days other than reprising Yukiko,but that may be just an excuse...

Excuse me if I go off the deep end again, but wow Amanda Winn Lee, you've gone and made me lose respect for you; well, as much as my initial dislike of you, learning about this digs it deeper.

I can relate with Anno right now in this point of my life, when he was inspired to make Evangelion. Anno at that point in time around the early 1990s was severely stressed and depressed; he was not paid for his work on Nadia: Secret of the Blue Water, saw the times change around him and grew to despise otaku culture, and took a year off to take psychiatric therapy. He was obviously not a happy man at this time, but this inspired him to channel his angst and surroundings into the most defining series of the 1990s Lost Decade era of Japan.

I also think people who think drugs are only what it takes to make art are those who die swept up in the perscription opioid abuse and wine with xanax epidemic in a brilliant poetic irony of karmic fashion. Fuck you, Amanda Winn Lee.
