An example of where this has not really happened, is Yu Yu Hakusho. An example for all others to be compared to of how to do a DUB correctly. To my knowledge, it's stands as an example of how to handle the dub right, maybe some minor changes here and there, but ultimately just make it as easily consumable to the region as the original and in some scenarios even BETTER than the original. No shoehorning political bs, or social messages unnecessarily(If it already had them, fine, but ONLY in that situation.) Don't change something just cause, have a VALID and SENSIBLE reason for a change, and ONLY in those scenarios.
Always ask yourself "should I change this?", however don't do a point for point translation of it either, cause well the issue is, language differences are MASSIVE, which does not translate fully to another right, so it is then YOUR JOB to fill in the ability to express what amounts to the same scene in that DUB's Language. I feel like this has been a rule that has been forgotten. You need to balance two things when dubbing, faithfulness of the source material, and being able to morph/change to FIT into that DUB's Language.
Dubbing is in a sense a type of art, and if you can't use imagination to do it and rely too heavily political statements or too much on the source material, the end product, WILL suffer because of your shit imagination.
EDIT: ALSO location of the series is important too, if it is set in Japan, DO NOT FUCK WITH THE CULTURE STUFF!
