EMTALA (US only) in it's most basic form mandates that patients whom present for emergency care (I am going to leave the labor part out as it is not part of the discussion) must assess and stabilize any life or limb threatening injuries or transfer to a hospital for stabilization. Most ERs just treat and street patients whom could be better served by outpatient doctors Even if they don't have one. Very, very few patients get discharged from every practice or a hospital as whole.

They're an interesting bunch. A lot of them claim to post here but are oddly paranoid about letting people know their handles. The new mod is either trolling or full on munchie and I can't figure out why she made a separate account to "protect herself" and then immediately filled it with outrageous stories about her life as a CF patient no wait it's not really CF okay it's Cf but I'm just a carrier who has all the problems that regular CF patients have like the beetus and lung infections and I have to do PT and a vest and nebulizers and I'm on BiPAP all day because if I even walk my O2 sats drop below 70 but I also work as an EMT and here are my best EMT stories.

I feel like IF is going to get deleted again soon. Despite their claims that this is some noble crusade to save mentally ill people from falling down the pit of social media hell while defending actually sick people, that's not what it looks like to their fellow hand-wringers. There's no way to operate a sub for calling out munchies without it looking to the outside like you're shitting on sick people. It's going to be hard to keep reconciling their self-righteousness with the cries of ableism from everyone outside. One of the mods is going to crack soon.

Munchie news:
Dani has been at Penn for over a day now and they're still just running lactated ringers. She was sure she was going to get TPN and she's getting increasingly frustrated as this proves not to be the case. As of her most recent update this evening, they're running her regular Vivonex feeds through her j-port again, also known as "there's nothing wrong with you." Just to refresh people, Dani did have moderate GP for solids on a GES after starving herself and abusing anticholinergics, which is how she weaseled her way into a tube by claiming she couldn't drink enough calories (while swigging diet cola and diet energy drink all day). GP should not affect her jejunum which is where her tube feeds go, therefore there is no reason she can't handle her tube feeds. It's too early to say that Penn is on to her IMO but watching her turn from delighted to "these stupid doctors don't understand that I need TPN AND ONLY TPN!!!" is great.



And Sarah-Jean continues to prove she doesn't understand the nature of any of the illnesses she claims to have either, while telling TMI stories about poop and revealing embarrassing information about other people's health.

I don't understand this chick's obsession with vlogging on the toilet to begin with, but a porta-potty doesn't even have the benefit of a regular bathroom where it's cool and quiet.

As a former Florida resident she should know the kind of hell we're going through now trying to save vulnerable native Everglades species from this blight.
-Business is slow for Evil Dad and not helped by the fact that Sarah-Jean broke some of his stock and is often making a scene in front of his customers.
-It's hot, she has water and an ice pack, someone tells her her smile is pretty
-vlogs strangers without their consent or knowledge like an absolute creeper

-Took a nap. Now we have to talk about porta-potties because her experience was horrific. Grateful they had sanitizer instead of sinks which she doesn't use. When you're ill you don't have a choice where you go to the bathroom especially if you have IBS or gastroparesis. These munchies really have no idea what gastroparesis is, do they?
-She discussing her pooping behavior. I'll spare you.
-She's going to be in Depends before she's 50 because her mom is incontinent. Sarah continues to violate everyone else's privacy.
-When you're sick you have to use Porta-Potties and you can't think about what everyone else things of you when you're screaming because poopy water splashes you. Everyone's been in that situation, guys, it's part of chronic illness.

I firmly believe that unless they are paying cash for every single medical expense then they are stealing from their insurance company or the govt and taxpayers if they have medicaid. It would be fascinating if one of these fakers was exposed and had to stand trial and have it all televised for our viewing pleasure. After all, by their own choice and design, they are public figures.

There is a popular Youtuber with hearing loss from her connective tissue disorder which has made being HOH trend somewhat. Off the top of my head, Amanda/Ren claims to be hard of hearing when it suits her.

A lot of them aren't anorexic in the sense that they don't actually have the mental illness anorexia nervosa. Starving themselves for attention and to look sick is just another facet of their munchausen.

I'd be more willing to believe it if she lived somewhere like the deep inner city where gunshots, drive-bys, muggings, and that sort of thing are common. Living in that kind of situation is bound to make you skittish and panicky around anything that sounds like a gun and in spoonie culture that's totes PTSD. But from what I can see she lives in the burbs and her idea of violence is talking to her.

Yeah, in the beginning I thought she might could even warrant her own thread but eh, the last fun thing she did was admit her doctors think she's full of shit then freak out when people agree. She's no fun when she's not being told off by every medical professional she runs into. All she does is preach about animals and complain about her dad.
