Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

On the other hand how many of these filthy casuals are willing to crazy glue their hand to their own vagina for attention?
Hmm possibly Dani I can see her going for the throw it all and see what sticks in the near future, the rest seem content to be sick bed princesses.

I know everyone on here is obsessed with Jan, (and I don't blame because she really has had some cow moments after Jaq's death.) But after my personal cow Tubie Tara's death, I have gotten into Anelise, whom Illness Fakers has moved on to after Jaq's passing and Aubs's insurance investigation. She's an Asian anorexic who pretends to have a million illnesses to cover up her anorexia, kinda like Aubs did.

She is my new favorite munchie to kick the bucket next. I took a gander at her IG and is really upping the game with pacer pads, codes and rapid responses.

She's a fun one. At the same time she claimed to be dying of gastroparesis on this account she was running a secret pro-ana account where she bragged about starving herself for days. Here's some classic Tina: she claimed to try to kill herself by jumping off Niagara Falls. She had to be medflighted back to the States where she took this highly facetuned grinning selfie with the nurse, but then made herself look like a Make-a-Wish kid when it was time to be wheeled through public again. She's deleted much of her really damning stuff including her ED account but the en flight shit-eating grin selfie is still there for some reason.

I still think Anna is going to accidentally a fatal injury herself a la Jaq, she really fucked herself killing her colon. But Anelise, Kelly and Kat are close, too. I really can't pick a top contender. I still think Kelly will end up strapped down so she can't hurt herself before she'd die.
Nah Kelly will outlive them all out of pure spite

oh wow! That is horrific on so many levels. Looks like this girl is literally playing with fire and then rubbing sh*t in it.

I wonder how many munchies like this every recover and regret the way they threw their health in the trash like this? I imagine that Jaq was already unconscious when the news came that she only had a few hours left of life. Her famiy had to deal with the horror instead. What a shitty thing to do to your family. I wonder if they even realize it?

I seem to recall reading in a medical based book about a patient who was a supermunchie who went too far for too many times and they decided not to treat them anymore and to let nature take its course.

The doctors and hospital made the decision that it was a hopeless case, and valuable resources , time, money and chances at life were being wasted on this patient. Pt was offered somewhat pallitive care but no lifesaving treatment or special attention or anything else. They declared the patient as a terminal case and went and explained all of this to them.

I seem to remember that patient was upset by their refusal of further care but could nothing about it. They had burned their bridges with everyone long ago. They were too sick to leave the hospital ( but they were free to do so) and really had no place to go. They explained that surgery would not work as the pt kept ripping stitches and infecting wounds ( that infection endangers other pts who DO want to survive.) . So the patient was told they were hopeless and that was that.

No other hospital or doctor would take them based upon the long history they already with them. She had burned bridges there as well. I remember my shock reading it but i was young and naive. Nowadays i wish they WOULD do that ( or at least pretend to for a few days) to shock the munchies back to reality. Kinda like they do to kids doing crimes in those scared straight stories. YEah, i know it isnt likely to happen these days but a girl can dream.

Dang, i need to go find that book again. Id love to reread it.

Lol one of the spergs at ifaftermath are trying to say that the new mod is a pw alt account. What is it with them accusing everyone of being kittenbread or other mods sock puppets.

I would post it in there but reading the comments from one or 2 of the people in there is giving me 12 bouts of sepsis with the amount of tard they give off and that is without that dino exceptional individual.

Although the tea on the new mod has been good.

I never worked out how she did those burns.

If I had to guess (and it makes me cringe even thinking of it) I’d say she took the nozzle off the hairdryer and held it to her arm on high.

As @ellessewarrior says on the ronahan thread, Kelly has excoriation disorder at some level - whether as a prime driver or as something she’s developed in the course of harming herself.

To anyone normal, the thought of harming yourself like that over time IS horrific nightmare fuel. Kelly has a serious mental illness, over and above the munchie stuff.

Just a thought, she might have fallen asleep with the hairdryer on the first time and after getting that kind of a burn started doing it repeatedly. I reckon at this stage her pain threshold is higher than a regular persons because of the abuse she's put herself through but iirc this happened at the start.

( The hairdryer thing isn't as strange as it sounds, a lot of people do it for either the noise or the heat as a comfort thing. It's very dangerous though not just because you can get burns like that but you can blow the socket and burn the house down doing it so don't try this at home kids)

I'm not really aware of this happening in the US because you have a legal duty to treat patients -- well, stabilize them, and some of the more extreme self-harming munchies can put themselves in critical -- when they come to the ED, regardless of their psych history or ability to pay or anything else.

In some states you can have them committed involuntarily. This doesn't really seem to aid them too much, because I assume people like Kelly are just immune to therapy at this point. Maybe some of the younger ones could be helped.

It's a pretty sad situation in general.

The law you are referring to does not extend to physician practices. Providers have every right to deny a consult or in primary care deny a person. Doctors can choose their panel of patients. However, once a person is seen by said doctor they do have an obligation to treat the consulting reason. EG a neurologist who treats a person for seizures prescribes anti seizures.
That being said providers also have the right to discharge patients from their practice. Not coming to follow ups, not being complaint with therapy, being rude to staff are all reasons to discharge a patient. Often, they will contract for behavior prior to the dismissal. It for protection of the provider and patient. If you refuse chemo/radiation without good reason they can discharge you, continued ongoing psych behavior, they can.
In the case of calling the patient terminal the patient had probably munchied themselves so much they most likely were terminal without treatment. The decision isn't made lightly and a 2nd doctor, ethics and board have to agree that the patient has failed every single attempt and possible therapy.

They medicalized everything. It was never just the kids being bad. It was the kids had ADHD and OCD and ODD and autism and it's not their fault they're little fuck-gremlins who ruin everything they touch because no one ever enforced any rules or boundaries for them. Their response to anything was more pills. It's like the Schofields with more inbreeding and less BMW.

Young boys from poorer families will be the new lifetime pharma customers. Drugged into an approximation of normality.

If you remember let us know!

It wasn't Playing Sick by Dr Marc Feldman was it?

I dont think so. Im pretty sure it was a non- fiction memoir type book by a nurse like an Echo Heron book or Peggy Anderson type books where they feature a variety of different patients and the challenges or joys of dealing with them based on their experiences.

I wish i could remember because i love researching stuff and am always interested in the medical ethics cases.

Medical ethics can be so fascinating.
*like the jahi mcmath case
*or the teenage felon who needed heart transplant and was denied due to his lifestyle. He screamed racism so he got his heart and just as the board predicted did stupid shit like smoking drinking and finally dying in a high speed crash fleeing the cops after robbing a house and running over a pedestrian.
*or the case of the stupid lady whose biggest wish was to be blind and disabled so the psychologist helped her put acid in her eyes

I wonder how the epidemic of MBI is affecting medical ethics boards and what the protocol is to diagnose it and then treat it what a nightmare for them.
