Why have you not decided to join a Hasidic community or something? Or join some kind of commune in which people's views of modern culture are more congruent with your own? Why not do something about your discontent?

Because there are no such here. No Amish. Our Jews are all integrated in the mainstream society. I've considered the Orthodox Church here, which might be easy because of my heritage, but they're both integrated in a modern society and still viewed with some disdain due to unfortunate events in the 90s.
