"Paul Rudd Joins Ghostbusters' 2020 cast" - Oy vey

Paul could get it. Yes daddy. Ages like wine. Unfortunately you can tell he's reaching old age, so I don't get the ppl who are all "HE HASN'T AGED A DAAAAAY"

Even the movie did. When it got released on home media, they changed the name to: “Ghostbusters: Answer the Call”.

It's got to be one of the most misguided movies in Hollywood history.

There's no getting around the fact that Ghostbusters is an inherently male thing and I'll tell you why, the whole idea is that as fantastical as the premise is the Ghostbusters are at the end of the day just blue collar "Johnny Lunch Pail" workers like exterminators and construction workers, how many females in those professions do you know of?

You could do a female Ghostbuster, but to to make the whole team female and to try to make it some female centric thing was a flawed idea from the start for the reasons I stated.

Plus the whole thing was so mean spirited about it what with a male nerd being the villain and their secretary being so dumb, was Janine in the original film like that? No.

Typical mean spirited third wave feminism trash, it really speaks to how alienating the 2010s have been when something that was once as ubiquitously loved as fucking Ghostbusters of all things was drafted into the culture wars.

Ironically the cartoon tried making Janine a Ghostbuster shortly before it ended

I want to direct a Ghostbusters.

And YOU get a Ghostbusters sequel! and YOU get a Ghostbusters sequel...

This is the secret behind shit remakes. They put either dumb idiots with no experience or con artists in charge of them. Looks good on the resume, they shit out some fucking crap and that's it.

I have absolutely no faith that this is going to turn out remotely worth watching and will instead remember the good times from back where they belong.

Try watching this whole music video..see all those faces from back in their prime, remember the bits/pieces from the original movie, and see if you have an iota of desire to watch this regurgitation when it releases instead of just watching the original again.

If you'd rather have those memories mixed with what will most likely be, at best, "meh" (and at worst, utter tripe) from this new movie, then go right ahead. I'd much rather just stop rewarding Hollywood's shitty behavior wherever possible and give this rehashed franchise a pass entirely..again.

And let me tell you - I'd be overjoyed to be wrong about this, and fully admit I was a sourpuss. Just don't see it happening. :(

I personally trust Jason Reitman to come up with something worthwhile, I mean he's an Oscar nominated filmmaker, certainly if anyone could make another good Ghostbusters movie it's the son of the original director who is an acclaimed filmmaker themselves?

OK, muh predictions on the story/plot for the film.

Paul Rudd is prolly gonna be Danas son, Oscar, and he inherited some of the old equipment and kept it in a barn, had a family and moved on in life and forgot about it. His kids get older and know about the ghostbusters but dont find out about the stuff in the barn until later.

Now either some nasty evil entity was locked up in a trap and let out by the kids, or a nasty evil entity shows up and the ghostbusters are needed again. Only problem is they're old now, so they take on the role of teachers and try to stop the evil entity that grows in power.

Conflict: Not only is there an evil entity out there causing havoc, but the public doesn't especially like the ghostbusters because of all the chaos and damage that occurs when they do their thing(in tradition with the lore of the second film). Modern science catches up with the ghostbusters old technology but doesn't work the same way and rather than restrict/capture ghosts ends up amplifying their abilities and makes everything worse.

Climax is original ghostbusters and the new ones take on the new evil ghosts and redeem themselves, pass on the torch to the younger generation and Slimer charges at the screen like Chris chan after chicken tendies.

End credits.

You forgot the part where they bring back Gozer for maximum nostalgia bucks.

Ghostbusters was never that good to begin with.

Yeah, I said it. It was funny, had some cool one-liners, a slick music video with a catchy theme tunes, but I cannot see it as anything more than another 80s comedy with a wacky premise that has that problem endemic to the genre where it meanders in the middle for some reason. Before any of this stupid bullshit with the remake, you could barely even get the internet to consider the idea that the sequel was any good. Which, yeah, its really not. Why did they never make Ghostbusters 3? Because its fucking downhill from the moment the credits roll in the first movie.

The remake might even have been an inept long con designed to promote the 2020 movie. Which is going to suck ass as well. The SJW thing was just a gimmick, and it pretty much worked because we're still fucking talking about it aren't we?
