Arin Hanson / Egoraptor / Grump - "Hey I'm Grump!" of Game Grumps fame, hypocritical SJW doxer, shat himself recording a let's play

He's not making millions of dollars. I doubt he makes even a million a year. I would guess he makes under 100K a year through various Mario things. Not a bad career all things considered.
Martinet's net worth is currently $10 million, which to my limited knowledge is on the higher end of the VA net worth scale. For reference, Steve Blum's is $4 million and Troy Baker is $6 million, and those guys are two of the most well-known VAs.

Those net worth sites are horribly inaccurate. Maybe Martinet has a million in savings but I sincerely doubt he gets paid any residuals. Same with all voice actors.

It also helps that Charles Martinet seems to be a sweet guy that does work because it make people happy. Unlike Arin who just wants easy mode for everything and has a fan base that shits on other for disagreeing with him.
Arin walks into the recording studio. The VA-director: "Hey, Arin, we need you to do a nasal really god awful annoying voice! Okey! Prima! Perfect!, Now do a cutesy kind of high pitched voice! No, Not the Annoying one, a cutesy one..." *20 minutes later* - "Arin.... get the hell outta our studio!"

Good for Arin and all of that, but he's been barking up this tree for at least two full years and (to my knowledge) has little to show for it.

He's had this pinned for a while.

Those are two of the most well known video game VAs; which is still a bit of a niche. Martinet likely gets paid a fair bit more because he's "iconic" in a role, similar to television voice actors.

Television VAs do, sometimes, get residuals. The simpsons cast gets between $300k-500k per episode, plus residuals and that show is going 35 (?) seasons - so huge piles of cash there all around. Not every show is the simpsons, but it's usually better to lock down a role on a popular show/game than have to do a bunch of smaller parts but success can be found either way.

The problem that Arin is going to run into is the abundance of established VAs, combined with his lack of emotional depth and lack of bringing anything unique to the table. He isn't even "guy with a video game youtube show" guy because Troy Baker and Nolan North do one of those as well. Matt Mercer does consistent streams as well. Arin also doesn't sing/perform well which is another thing that VAs are sometimes asked to do and another skill they can bring to the table.

Ironically, VA would be something that Dan might be better suited to, but he probably wouldn't pursue it because of the meltdown Arin would have over it.

With the likely followup being Arin - instead of accepting that he has limited voice talent and needs practice to build a larger variety of voices - blames the VA director for having impossibly high standards.

Anyone else remember when Arin said:

"You can't be a fan of mine and not be used to swearing, because everything I make has swearing in it..."

Pepridge Farm remembers.

(Video of Arin from the Jon era, talking about how he refuses to be censored. Back before the California fully set in. Timestamped.)
Aw man, you just made me remember how much I actually miss old game grumps :(

Ding Dong spoke out more about the backlash towards him (and probably Julian as well) involving Dream Daddy. Someone made a disparaging comment about the lovelies but Ding comments it could’ve been anyone.
But only the lovelies could be that vindictive over GG content.

All this backlash for speaking up aganist a mediocre game, the Lovelies sure know how to spend an afternoon

There's also an interesting tidbit on one of the tweets that I'd like to point out (apologies if I'm late of if it was mentioned before in the thread):

On the surface that would mean Chris didn't pay him for some videos that got fucked up on the editing process and such. Except...

It wouldn't be out of character for the Grumps management to fuck up this badly (considering DD also mentioned people on the development team for Dream Daddy felt like shit while working on the project), but someone else knows more details about this?

I have run a small business before. I don't know what the rules are where Arin is, but I am 90% sure it is super illegal to pay ding dong and julian in that way.

Making free money on someone for a long period of time has it's limits, although that can be debated in court. And you certainly aren't allowed to make people work with no pay once they are already considered your employees.

With all the shit going on in their circle right now, I'm sure internally theres legal threats. I don't think Ding Dong would be talking about this open in the air, unless he was certain he could legally. The sad part is, it doesnt seem theyre on the best footing financially to proceed with something like that right now. I hope I'm wrong...

If Arin was serious about saving his channel, he should realize he's too late for that, but there's a chance he could save Game Grumps if in name. He decided to invest in a "studio" and even did a fair amount of decorating and renovations (Portal Bathroom), so there had to be some connection he had to it. But instead of growing (or attempting to) he stagnated. What he should've done (and should consider, if possible) is to try and get other people to use his studio (he has all that tech and setup lying around for what, to play videogames). Or maybe use Game Grumps as a brand, for young and upcoming hopeful youtubers to be under. I'm not saying this would work; but he has a studio of sorts in Southern California; a land with plenty of people full of hopes and dreams of making it big. Nobody wants to be a stepping stone, but he doesn't have a choice, even if it is him taking advantage of people who may never make it. Neither side may get something, or they can work together and profit together. Either way, something's better than this circling the drain he's doing.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this is the case in a year or two. Game Grumps essentially takes the same path as Smosh and becomes more of a media organization /network rather than a single creative entity. Just seems like the natural progression of these types of things. And I'm sure another year or so later we'll get a video from Dan about how he's leaving because "Game Grumps has changed" or some shit.

My god when looking at this then Arin's recent tweets is kind of funny because it just is so blatant how much this man lies to save his image.

The Lovelies - or someone within the Grumps office, itself.

I hate it when people leave vague comments like this; leaving people guessing over what the Hell they're talking about only causes unnecessary drama. It's this kind of nonsensical BS that causes so many conspiracies to surround his name/his 'company'.

If I had any advice for Arin (or folks like him), it would be either say what's on your mind (and be clear about it) or say nothing at all. And if you're going to insist on sticking with this vague garbage; don't bitch when inaccurate rumors start spreading.
