I know a lot too, and in my experience they have no more social anxiety than the average person, and certainly not clinical levels. They are driven, probably as a result of the culture in which they grew up, to seek attention.
Good point, I wasn't trying to say it was anything clinical. I was distinguishing between something like public speaking anxiety, or anxiety about finances, or body image/self-consciousness, etc.
I keep forgetting that descriptive, plain-meaning terms like that are constantly turned into syndromes and diagnoses.
