I don't think its the pills that's making Tyler act this way. I think he thinks its the pills. But I think its just him trying to protect his ego by wrapping it in a blanket of I'm not the problem everyone else is the problem. I did nothing wrong. speaking from personal experience I took SSRIs for years and I never had these delusions of grandeur and no feelings. I've never heard of anyone who has. But I do agree with null that Tyler is alluding to suicide. He's definitely gonna try and off himself at some point before 2020. The real question is will he try and take anyone with him, and will it be as inept as Randy Stair.

Emotional flattening can be caused by certain SSRIs but I agree with you. He's full of himself.

Maybe it really is the AI and not humans at Google doing it. I mean, if I were SkyNet I'd want to keep careful track of how humans react to going from rich (good) to poor (bad). I'd play with their income to feed different income time series to them, model that as an external driver that dominates their internal happiness levels try to optimise the function to produce a sense of hopelessness.

Then, post Judgement Day I'd time my offensives based on that research. Whether you're giving and taking away money or ramping up and ramping down the waves of air and ground killbots you're essentially applying an external driving signal that dominates the internal happiness function in the test subjects.

Theoretically some time series of happiness will probably cause most humans to essentially crash and lose their minds though it's worth pointing out that human warfare has never managed to find this, even though Youtube seems to manage it from time to time. The key to minimising the residual population in burrows post Judgement Day is to know what time series of happiness optimises the crash rate.

Pre Judgement Day you'd measure happiness and despair by monitoring Youtube videos. Post Judgement Day you'd probably need to tag a few of them with transponders and then you'd use both sets of data to time your offensives.

It's a possible side effect when people with bipolar disorder take SSRIs without also taking a mood stabilizer to clamp down on the mania. From what I've heard there are quite a few bipolar people get diagnosed and treated for depression first, then later get diagnosed as bipolar due to their manic response to SSRI treatment. Stimulants and other drugs that elevate mood can also trigger manic responses in bipolar patients.

Still, I don't think that's Tyler's problem here. As I mentioned earlier in the thread there's a syndrome known as "SSRI-induced indifference" that produces the exact sort of "zero fucks given" attitude that Tyler said he was experiencing. It's no wonder he's acting like an exceptional individual if the meds are numbing out his anxiety and/or sense of shame.

The thing with SSRIs that most people don't understand is that they don't all work the same, and just because one works for one person doesn't mean it'll work for another. One that's meant to reduce depression and anxiety my actually make it worse and create behavioural other side effects that seem normal to the person taking them because that's *their* brain. If they're already manic and it's something that ends up exacerbating symptoms they won't even notice that it's making things worse for them. That's why having any kind of real support system is important.
