He didn't have a sudden illness or a death in the family. He didn't have a tree fall through his roof and needed emergency housing. There was literally no reason 'circumstances' forced anything. He is just shitty with money.

Look at his Patreon. It's pathetic. If you work a normal job ---ANY normal job--- then you make more money than Linkara. Even if it's part-time minimum wage. Even if you push a mop.

Where else does he get cash? Super-chats? Con appearances? I bet he still squeaks in just under minimum wage.

A normal job will also pay part of your health insurance, and sometimes help contribute to a 401k. Also give you paid time off.

I remember going to a con panel that Doug and Rob had, and somebody asked why they're doing more recent stuff. They said that if they stayed in the 80s and 90s, they'd end up doing things REALLLY obscure, which wouldn't really be viewed well apparently. As for them, you could argue that "nostalgia" might be changing depending on who you talk to and who your viewers are.

As for Linkara...I have no idea. The only recent ones I've seen him do are infamous things like One More Day.

Yeah I think Doug had the advantage in that he actually reviewed media you might have at least heard about. But Linkara is very niche. I mean comic book buyers are completely dwarfed in the audience of old movies and tv shows.

In terms of "nostalgia, it honestly makes little difference if it's a recent comic or a new one. Not even people that buy many comics have the money to buy every issue.

I'm not sure. Is he getting youtube ad revenue? Youtubers like to play poor to hide they are earning a lot of money there. In some cases ad revenue alone puts you in the six-figure range. I don't think linkara is that successful because his views are not that great, but he might be earning a lot more money than he lets on.

That's because he's literaly the Irate game of comic books reviewer with the major difference is the person Linkara riped off wasn't a comic books reviewer

The thing that kills me about Lewis was him doing that meet up review on Killer7. Motherfucker had all that time before the convention to not even play the game, but look up a damn Let's Play or tread through the Suda51 Wiki for information. I get that Killer7 is a confusing story at times with a lot of loose ends and symbolism that has to be digested to get the overall theme, but the base of it is: You're an assassin with multiple personalities working for the US Government taking out suicide bomber terrorists, in a still socially dysfunctional world even in a new era of peace; kill them all and their associates. If all you can do to get by in your reviews is to mention constantly just "how bizarre things are" in the story, then that's an obvious sign you didn't take the time to reflect and ask how and why said things are bizarre and makes said story bizarre, and should turn in your critic card and hang yourself. Critical thinking skills are crucial for reviewing, but Lewis and his kind were most likely the motherfuckers in high school who never took a clue to shut up in class before the teacher issued extra homework for everyone just because they never listen.

I've been to some of his manga reviews at conventions, really. While I did get a good laugh from his Tandy Computers comic review because the nerds in the story were just outright Orwellian to where they didn't even act like children, Lewis evidently shows that his teenage years were full of cuckery. If Yu Gi Oh weirds him out because Yami Yugi is an outright diehard gambler who stakes out grievous punishment to the scum that faces him, that Joey lets Yugi borrow his porn, and other things teenagers do as adolescents, don't let him read anything else with extreme violence, exploring sexual curiosity mildly or let alone show him hentai. Dude is so thin skinned it's embarrassing to know how much of a snowflake he was during high school.

Which is funny since Linkara did a parody of the Irate Gamer in one video. It was actually pretty funny, mainly because of how absurdly retarded Linkara's version of the Irate Gamer.

I'm trying to think of some examples he could cover in recent years but yeah, this is pretty accurate. Politicization makes it so the only recent stuff he could do with becoming "an Alt-Right Nazi hater" would be like.....the handful of newer Frank Miller stories or Bendis stories where he goes straight into "problematic fave" like the Iceman retcon.

Maybe Civil War 2 and Secret Empire as those stories were universally hated but he'd have to be careful around his words.

The funny thing is most writers just go "lol idk" or "figure it out yourself" in response to questions, but Suda's known for happily explaining what his stories mean if you ask him at cons. He's even got answers for questions like Travis' favorite porn genre. Of course getting that kind of detailed answer requires doing some research first...

Wait, I've heard that Linkara threw some jabs into Sonichu. Not like a complete review or something, just a remarks about how bad it is. Is it true?

Mainly because Chris reminds him of himself.

Lewis has one motivation in life, and that is to be famous. Not rich and famous, just famous. He does trends to fame like young adult novels(eragon), webcomics(penny arcade), and finally internet reviews(avgn, Doug walker).

He sort of got himself pigeonholed into this role by being stuck in it while the bridges collapsed around himself. He has a near useless degree(his professional orbiter and latza fesworks has a more useless degree), no job experience, and diminishing fame.

I would feel sorry for him, but then I remmeber how smug and condescending he was to everyone he stepped on.
