I really fucked up trying to explain things. Instead of getting you guys to understand the situation, I ended up making things more confusing. Instead of trying to go back and explain all the ways you misinterpreted what I said, I'm just going to ask you to ignore all of it. Don't treat me like an official source of information; just assume I have no idea what I'm talking about. Not only am I explaining myself poorly, but I'm also probably wrong about some things.

Well, if nothing else, it's pretty brave of you to interact with us and it wouldn't be fair to shit on you, because it's not like you have a lot of control over this ... game. I would like to ask a question though: It's okay to estimate, but (in your opinion) likely is it that the Kickstarter funding will happen? And a follow up question: If it happened and there was an actual team working on the game, if the team's programmers decided to make things happen by using a more polished and advanced coding- would Alex be willing to let them do it this time? It's obvious to me that he likes thinking of concepts and story a lot, so why not leave the coding to someone who's better?

Quite interesting that Yanderedev needs to break game rules (i.e. giggle/radio distraction, asking student to distract other student) to make an OP character to BALANCE a game. I dunno, it sounds unfair to players and usually if your game is unbalanced, you fix the rules and mechanics of a game.
It's a problem you get when your game mechanics are broken from the get-go. It's too easy to murder your target so Yandev has to add a gazillion obstacles so that you can't just beat the game in an hour by grabbing a knife and going to town, making murder completely unfun in the process. Any sane game designer would just rethink their game at that point, but...

The fact that he said it felt like an "ancient profecey" that he worked on Osana again sounds like a red flag.
The whole video felt like a some sort of scape goat.
And the industructable rival and Osana seems more like an advanced form of Saki and Kokona.
Also sorry for spelling errors.

The ancient prophecy is probably going to be a new feature knowing how Alex works. Glad that this board got interesting again I don't think Alex will be able to get his game crownfunded but that should at least be interesting

This is poor game design at its finest. How will any player, who randomly picks up the game one day, know how to kill Osana without the Sueinator apprehending them? Osana is a TUTORIAL rival.

The only way for a new player to figure out how to kill Osana is to watch someone’s YouTube video about how to remove the Sueinator. The only other way is to just tell the player how to do it through a tutorial or scheme.

And if the first rival gets an indestructible body guard, what about the second? Third? Fourth? Are there going to be dozens of characters in this school who suddenly have peak martial art skills by the end of the game?

From what I see from newcomers that try to play this "game"(V-Slice? Demo?) this game is near impossible to get a grasp of what's going on. Which resulted in Alex putting a long ass paragraph that is suppose to be a tutorial tip.
5 years in the making folks

I heard Alex saying that Osana in the demo is going to be of average dificutly and she will be easier to kill in the final game.
Which raises the question: does that mean that Raibaru will have to be either removed or nerfed? If so, her entire current backstory will be irrelevant.

While I was in the “Pre-Osana Checklist” phase of the game’s development, my focus was on frequently implementing important game mechanics and releasing new builds as regularly as possible. Now that I am in the “Working on Osana” phase of the game’s development, it means that I’m spending all of my time working on stuff that I can’t share with you.
It’s possible that we have left the stage of the game’s development where you can expect me to regularly release new builds with cool features, since the game is nearly feature-complete at this point in time, and now my focus is on Osana. I still intend to release at least one video per month, but it’s hard to say exactly what those videos will be about, since from here on, almost all the work I’ll be doing is spoiler territory.
So does this mean that Jay From The KubzScouts won't have any new builds to look for bugs in? Who's the current hip YS youtuber anyway?
This will seriously dampen the interest. People who haven't heard about YS won't hear about it, and people who played it will manage to grow up and switch to actual games, like The Sims or shit. Unles he really takes only few months as he's saying.
Also: the game is feature complete? I haven't checked anything in recent builds, but aren't there huge glaring missing functionalities that were supposed to be done before Osana?

Anyway: any bets which year Osana comes out?

Everything on his pre-Osana checklist is done, except for a Save/Load system and SNAP mode.

The biggest problem really is the game’s pathfinding, since people still walk around in conga lines or giant groups half the time.

Thats true Alex still can't wrap his head around including a save system
he can't spaghetti his way around an actual feature that requires actual work

The biggest misunderstanding I caused is making people think he's going to quit. He will never quit.
Once Osana is finished, that's it. It's over It will not continue development. Development has ended. It has been completed.
You're contradicting yourself here, pal.

Doesn't matter anyway. Adding more rivals isn't going to change anything because the whole design of the game is broken. It's counter intuitive, soulless and not fun at all. Even if Alex would be a decent coder, that wouldn't change jackshit because he turned this simple but playable concept into this convoluted mess of feature creep.
I can't wait for the new saga that will start after this v-slice, demo or whatever is finished and Alex will have to face reality again. That should be a breath of fresh air in this thread.

The new bodyguard mechanic just seems incredibly poor from a design perspective. I can understand the developer not wanting it to be too easy to eliminate a character who is meant to pose an actual threat to the player but isn't yandev already forgetting about something that stops the player from randomly murdering people in the school? The fucking police? I believe that's the whole point of the police as a gameplay mechanic: to prevent you from getting away with random and not-well-thought-out murders. If this mechanic isn't enough why not just buff the police rather than adding a limiting bodyguard to the rival? The bodyguard seems like a mary-sue type who is TOO powerful. It just railroads the player into only taking a few possible routes in killing Osana which just makes it seem like he's desperate to show off his fancier animations.

I really don't see the point of this at all. Seems a waste of time.

Thats the point. With all game mechanics currently avalible, murder isn't the main problem for a player. But getting rid of a body and all clues, or framing other person for that becomes a problem that player should solve, and, basically, it is not a bad idea. All students patroling school territory, becoming more and more suspicios after each death, security cameras and other stuff makes player to think few steps ahead. Is this stuff still poorly made and very wanky? Yes, it is, we are talking about Alex, but OP karate-girl only makes it worse.

So when the kickstarter fails do you think he'll go onto a new game concept or go back to his first love "Lunar Scythe"?
i'm more interested how big will be his kickstarter goal. Having a team of professional gamedevs is an expensive thing. Plus taxes. Plus kickstarter fee. Plus manufacturing of physical backer rewards, if they are planned.
His main consumers are schoolkids, teens and young adults, who doesn't have much money, and most of them are playing because it is a free game for now. Maybe he can have a successible campaign if his goal is 50-100 k, but it's not enought for ambitious game like Yansim.
Sometimes gamedevs do a kickstarter as a proof that their game idea is good and profitable, so, after getting some money from kickstarter, they get more money from publisher. After Tinybuild story, publishers wont even look and Yandere simulator.

My thoughts on Raibaru:
1. Why is she so overpowered when she's part of the tutorial? The player is going to be facing her at what is essentially level 1.
2. Why does she have a fucking naruto eyes animation when literally no other martial artist, INCLUDING THE TEACHERS, do? At least give the teachers that same cutscene and make a joke out of it.
3. Why does she need to be the chapter's sole balancing factor? The teachers/martial arts club/delinquents/student gang-up already fill her anti-attack role, and the students/teachers/delinquents/discount mystery gang fill her surveillance role. [He even mentiones Fureddu Jonesu in the video as being one of Raibaru's disciples, further proving how redundant she is.] She could just serve the social role like Saki did and the rest should fit together. [What happened to the unique schedules keeping them around students at almost all times idea?]
4. If Raibaru was surpassed by Budo a year ago and has taken up other hobbies since then, why is she stronger than Budo now?
5. If she's Saki 2.0, will we have to retrieve her bra from the school fence too?

It's a shame that one of Alex's chums showed up here but just talked about Yandere Sim development. At this point who even cares what state the game is in. Hey @Cleveland Rock if you're still around, tell us about your experience working with Alex. What's it like to work with the man himself? Has he ever raged at you over something small and meaningless? Ever slurped in your ears over voice chat? Ever confessed to you his intimate feelings for a video game character?
