A friend of mine is an aquatics and reptile specialist at a pet store, and he told me that pet stores always call their workers "specialists" if they work in a particular department, whether they're qualified or not. You could kill a bunch of fish on accident from pure ignorance, and according to my friend, they'd still refer to you as an aquatics specialist. At pet stores, those titles mean nothing -- it just means you're a worker of that department.

Vade isn't a specialist. She's too lazy to research or learn anything. It's just one of her many "titles" she uses to seem more interesting than she really is.

I have no hate for formulated dog food. If pet owners want to give it to their dogs, good for them. However, with no offense intended to any pet owners here, it's a fucking dog. If a dog is older, or sickly, specialty pet food is probably a good idea. However, it seems to me that the majority of these products are designed more for the benefit of the human than the pet. Wild dogs did not have a shiny coat or trimmed nails, and survived on the specialty diet of "fucking anything". Sleek frames, shiny coats, these are aesthetic touches brought on by breeding and diet for the benefit of the owner. I assure you, your German Shepherd is unconcerned with his cleanliness. It's an animal. Loyal, beloved, wonderful animals, but animals nonetheless. I love my roommates dog, but as long as he gets plenty of exercise and attention, he seems willing to forgive us for the bargain bag food.

<sperg on>This is actually not quite accurate. You can tell if an animal is healthy by the look and feel of their fur. Shiny sleek fur means a healthy system. If the fur feels differently/lost it's shimmer and dirt is not the cause something is up with your pet. Some diseases can be spotted by abnormalities in the fur.

However, I NEVER have heard that you have to ease your pet into other food because it could make them sick.

Yeah, you do, every time we switched up my dog's food she'd get diarrhea, and then we realized, "Oh, hey, you can't give them new food suddenly, you need to mix the old and new brand for a while." Of course, all dogs are different.

So Vade's not wrong, but it's not as serious as they're trying to make it out to be; the diarrhea will go away after a day or so if the dog is healthy otherwise and isn't super sensitive or whatever. They're attention whoring and trying to make themselves seem like a good person. Which is normal for them.

It's my pet theory as to why tumblr is so toxic and fucked up. The SWJs have created an economy of privilege where whoever has the least privilege has the most influence. Those with a lot of privilege will frequently find their words ignored or dismissed. If you want these wackos to pay attention to you, the only way to do it is to stoop down to their level and attach as many diagnoses to yourself as possible.
