As someone who doesn't bother to watch subs unless it's something I
really want to see and I don't want to wait, I didn't notice there was anything different at all. I'd still watch the dub over the sub with Hajimete no Gal because I prefer the localized jokes enough to ignore the one scene. Something like Gamergate would be noticeable even to a casual/dub fan, because Japan shouldn't know about that, but in general the edits just fly under the radar. I never knew there was this controversy at all until this whole situation, and I rarely bother to watch anything that isn't anime.

It's annoying these kinds of things are just accepted. It's always some snarky atheist playing these kinds of things, and their jokes are always lame 'this is how I think this religion I don't believe in should be' quips.
It's the UK version. Vic is literally the only VA listed on the front. And it's on multiple boxes like that one.
Fai's also one of the most popular characters. It doesn't matter that he isn't the 'main' character. Li and Fai are the most popular characters in the anime, the former because he's the protagonist, and the latter because he's the prettiest man there - whether you like the pretty boys or whether you're a fujo, it has the same popularity boost. I suspect crediting him had more to do with who he was playing than who he was.
I would love to know why they asked not to be assigned to vic in those years, but honestly it could be something simple like handling his fans or just not wanting to deal with a large crowd those years.
That yahoo mail group mentioned that it's tough to be his handler. You have to establish his boundaries for him (not because he doesn't understand boundaries, but because his fans don't), you have to watch him to make sure you can yank him out in time for his panels, make sure he takes breaks for food (or bring it to him) and you don't really get breaks. He's a tough guest to wrangle.

So personally i suspect what Vic
actually said, assuming it's true, is something to the effect of "Wow, she's part of the Miniskirt Army, huh? [I expect her husband might have been a Ranger] Is she easy to live with/is it easy to live with her?" Her having a poor grasp of English and probably not paying much attention then thought he said 'is she easy' as in an easy lay.
Of course, there's the slight possibility that he
really did say "Wow, she's part of the Miniskirt Army? Is she easy?" and meant it like that, but it wasn't a scummy womanizer thing to say, it was just a crass joke playing into the rivalry, same as any other derogatory joke he could have made about smeone being part of his rival's faction. You can make a dirty joke
between adults and not have actual sexual intent to it. Even a phrase that means "Is she an easy lay" has a huge difference between 'a friendly jab', 'a cruel remark', and 'a perverted inquiry like one Lemoine might make about consluts'.
Again, though, that subtlety would be lost on someone who didn't understand English very well. (Which is why a normal and well adjusted person would communicate that discomfort so it could be cleared up, instead of holding a grudge for ten years and lambasting them on twitter long after the person in question would have totally forgotten that conversation).
