Monica Rial / Monica Jean Rial / Rialisms & Ron Toye / Ronald Toye III / rontoye3 - 5th Bulma and Ron "Pick Up the Phone or You'll Find Your Dog Dead When You Get Home" Toye

Far as I can tell, Wendee Lee has kept her mouth shut and hasn’t sperged out about Vic probably because unlike Monica and Jaime she still has a job (When this war is over, those two bitches will join Mandy for some couch wine and cat parties) while keeping herself out of it as she’s not a moron.

Miu Iruma is hands down the best role Wendee has ever had in her career, and even if V3 recycled the voice actors from DR1 & SDR2 to play the characters she gave one hell of a performance alongside Derek Stephen Prince as Kokichi Ouma.

That and there's a possibility that Wendee probably knows that Vic is innocent. That or she's just watching this and going "Nope."

Also great possibilities.

I think the one time she’s mentioned in this shitsunami is when people get her mixed up with deplorable cunt and failed druggie Mandy Winn Lee, after her comment of “I hope you get raped” went viral especially on YouTube back when this started.

One of the things Vic addressed in his rumors panel was the accusation that he was stumbling around drunk at conventions. He denied it while Monica's drunken escapes, which no one really cares about, are part of convention lore.

At Anime World Chicago 2012, Monica had a panel where she bragged that she can drink people under the table. She gives an account from Anime Detour 2005 where she challenged Travis Willingham. She thought it would be a good idea, but says that it was stupid because he's a much larger man. He kicked her butt and had to carry her to her room.

They both went to Anime Weekend Atlanta 2006 and the staff thought it was so hilarious that they brought them bottles of tequila and shot glasses. She made a deal with him where he had to drink two shots for every one of hers. She recalls doing ten. There are audible gasps of oh my god when she says he did like twenty. They apparently were drinking in front of fans. During an "unflubbed panel" where he was Howard Stern and she was Robin Quivers, someone dared them to drink a bottle of Aquafina that was filled with an unknown yellow liquid. She declined, but said that Travis had so much tequila that he agreed. They both went to a Fullmetal Alchemist party incredibly inebriated. Everyone was in cosplay and she couldn't remember their names so she talked to them as if they were that character. Travis lost his wallet and while they were looking for it something got them laughing and they ended up rolling around on the floor in the hallway.

Vic and Luci Christian saw them doing this and "became like the mommy and daddy and like watch us". They went everywhere looking for Travis' wallet. She got a text in the middle of the night that it was in his back pocket.

She said that this incident has gone down in convention lore and that she and Travis get asked about it a lot. "When I'm 60 I'll be able to show my grandkids like, remember when mom was cool and grandma was cool and she used to drink tequila, here watch 48 videos about it."

I remember hearing about the legendary Tequila Story, but never knew exactly what happened because it was spread across several accounts. It's not as embarrassing as AWL's drunk strip tease, but it doesn't sound as funny as they made it out to be. It's kinda lame and honestly disappointing.

Speaking of being uncredited... I don't know if anyone's connected the dots but I wonder if this obsession with removing Vic from credits has something to do with Monica being pissed about Vic being credited on the boxart for Tsubasa Reservoir.

Edit: Just guessing here but it seems like the production of copies with Vic's name was probably limited run which would explain why it's hard to track down the boxart with his name. I imagine Monica threw a bitch fit at some point until it was agreed that the name be redacted. She seemed exceptionally salty about it though. Anyway, the website has multiple volumes listed with the artwork that includes Vic's name. Vic is listed on volumes: 2. Seeds of Revolution, 3. Spectres of Legend, 5. Hunters and Prey and 6. A Wish Upon Waking.
Interesting. So there really was a version of a the DVDs which had Vic's name on them. I couldn't find any after checking the boxart for Funimation releases, so I figured she was making it up, despite the genuine bitterness that appeared to be behind the claim, but I never thought to check for the UK releases. I'd wager it was indeed a UK release that had his name on the cover. According to wikipedia, the UK distributor for the first season of Tsubasa was Revelation Films, so it wouldn't be surprising if they did different marketing choices. Plus according to old Amazon listings, the 1st US DVD listed some Japanese VAs under the actors section, while an old Amazon UK listing just lists Vic as do several of the other old Amazon UK listings for the first season DVDs, even if the image used is of the US boxart.

Still I wouldn't say this improves things much. This is quite a petty thing to still be holding against him seeing as it appears to have been one small, non-US market that had his name on the box briefly. More importantly this was her example of how Vic had such power and influence in the industry. Which doesn't hold up to scrutiny well seeing as this decision was likely make by someone at Revelation Films, and Vic likely didn't have any input on it other than perhaps agreeing to it. So he supposedly got his name on the initial release of one series in one market, but not all the ones Funimation had influence over. Nor did he succeed in keeping it there for subsequent releases of the series, nor does he seem to have repeated his "success" with other series where he's more prominent. That doesn't add up to Vic being powerful and having a bunch of secret sway in the industry. It adds up to a marketing department thinking it'd be a good idea to slap his name on the box for that series. Probably something to do with him attracting a bunch of fangirls from his characters in other roles, and wanting to draw them in when he was voicing another role that made for good fangirl bait.

I think this was only the UK versions of the DVDs. I have the US versions of them, and it isn't on there. I very vaguely remember the shrinkwrap for the DVDs having a starburst-shaped sticker on the front which maybe mentioned his name, but I suspect it probably mentioned something about CLAMP, which would definitely have been a bigger selling point for the DVD than Vic in 2007. Then again, it was over 10 years ago, so it's entirely possible I'm misremembering the sticker existing at all.
I'd wager UK releases only as well. I don't have the series, but none of the US boxart I could find for it had it. The only ones I could find with stickers on the box were stickers for Clamp.

I don't even think the UK releases had different box art to the US one. A different distributor in the UK often means very little other than they handle putting the same product in a different region. The European editions used Clamp as the selling point like in the US because Clamp and Cardcaptor Sakura were a big deal back then. I'm not sure where she gets this sob story about Vic getting top billing on the box, at least for the original series release.

How can you be on Kiwi Farms and not know Chris-chan? That's like saying you're Jewish and don't know who Moses is.
To be fair, Chris hasn't been relevant or funny in years.

I'm still taken aback that a 40+ year old woman is apparently still salty over a very obscure box set release. And it's not like Monica's had a bad career. She might not be Jen Hale or Laura Bailey but she's done okay considering that voice actors in general are a dime a dozen. I just wonder what on earth she believes the world owes her sometimes before remembering that she's a narcissist who thinks she should be an A-List Hollywood actress.

it's more than salt. It's ego. It's jealousy.
At the core of this shit, Monica sees Vic as someone who gets what she doesn't- main char roles, caring fans and a fanclub, etc etc.

most folks before this didn't know who she was, and even after this she's primarily known as 5th bulma.

edit: also, hair that does not send retail workers into a panic

Bearing in mind that she and many of the other KV V.A.s don't have the same energy as Vic at cons like the fans do at these cons. Vic comes in, enjoys the company of fans and people. He wants to be a part of that community because he understands fans and radiates the same geek/nerd energy as they do because he's a Trekkie. Meanwhile Rial Lewinsky and Blamey Harpy ooze disgust and haughtiness. They don't have the same mode of thinking or shared enthusiasm he does. To them, being a V.A. and doing meet and greets with fans is just a job and make ends meets. To Vic, it's a passion and chance to reach out and communicate with real people.

Somehow related: IIRC, prior to Sabatage and Schmuckel lending their voices to Vegeta and Goku, respectively, Sabatage was a simple disk jockey and Schmuckel was a jazz enthusiast aspiring to be a jazz musician? Then Funimation became a thing and they signed on. Sabatage wasn't making much with dubbing as it anime was still a small time niche, and Schmuckel was going thru a divorce because his then wife thought he wasn't making bank and was hitting the bottle? Correct me if I'm wrong on that. That might explain also why those two are bitter at Vic, because like the vindictive hags, they only see being a V.A. as just jobs.

Now now! These days her best known role is that spastic frog girl. So Comedy Relief!
