Childbirth is only really a major mechanic in three games in the series, and it was horribly shoehorned in the last time they tried it. Mostly it's just about hooking people up with each other, so adding gay options makes plenty of sense, especially since there have been implied gay relationships before Fates made them explicit.

Though it is funny that the gay people I know are all pretty excited for the game and its gay romantic options, and I've only seen ResetERA whine about them.
