Also I'm trying to temper my expectations.

The wild optimist in me figures that once the TCPA fails, funimation will enter settlement talks. Monica and Ron will hold out a week before entering settlement talks.

Between a month or two later, Funimation issues a memo saying their investigation was flawed and they welcome Vic back. Monica gives a tearful recantation on YouTube. And Rooster Teeth hires Vic back because they fucked up.

No, funi and RT went full "get woke go broke" path. they will not settle, they will both die soon, and hopefully the SJWs responsible will never find job in the field again, but we all know they will weasel their way to another company to erode.

A shame, I kina liked RWBY and Gen:Lock

It rains skittles where you live, doesn't it? You poor, optimistic, fool.

Skittles would have been less damaging than what we did get.

I'm trying to hold on to the ashes of my hopes for this to end well. The logical part of me admits you are correct. Just wishing it didn't have to be like this.

Unless good people of Sony would step in after TSPA failure and say something like "shut up and settle". Isn't that second ongoing lawsuit? Sony own and/or invest, I don't think they going to let case to drain more money and reputation. And RT also owned by someone, aren't they?

if i recall aren't they owned by Warner Bros.

Time Warner who is owned by AT&T. AT&T is supposedly going to start trimming costs.

So with the failure of GenLOCK, the PR damage from the labor conditions, and now a subscription increase RT would need a win or at least staunch the bleeding.

Before they could say "Fuck our fans, we have Time Warner money!" Now they don't have that money and are being asked to actually turn a profit. Unfortunately they will have the reputation of letting an innocent man be railroaded and that won't play well to any group that could save them.

And there is the possibility that they will get attacked for allowing Vic to operate for so long, much like Funimation is being set up right now.

So settling with Vic would be painful and devastating, but the SJW's will throw them to the wolves.

I'm currently trying to wrap my mind around this stupid line these assholes keep toting out: "That ISWV/Vic's fans/VicStans/Nick/Ty have ruined Vic more than anyone else has in this whole shitstorm"
Perhaps, on some level, these guys/gals realize they went too far, what that could have done to Vic, and are desperately trying to pass the buck to the people who have been after them for it, ever since? Or maybe it's an attempt to gaslight/manipulate the narrative to kill the fight, so Vic goes to an early grave all the more faster.

Side-note: Move to strike the debate/discussion over Toei vs. Team Four Star and fair use. It's boring and dumb.

Simple to grasp. SJWs, like every single hard left group, are guilty of the exact things/behaviors/etc that they attribute to their enemies. Examples:
*PETA killing animals in PETA run animal shelters while condemning hunting, fishing, ranching etc.
*The Democrat Party screaming RACISM! while preventing black/minority students to escape a crumbling school system via school choice. Welfare for votes etc.
*Climate change groups condemning fossil fuel use while flying all over the world in private jets to events that do nothing but give these untalented fucks a red carpet moment.
*Hollywood types screaming about the plight of the WhamminZ while raping them on the casting couch since Hollywood was a thing.

Shannon looks like a baby that was given super soyrum and grew so quickly his voice didn't have time to match up with his hideously retarded physical form.

Seriously, he looks like fucking Sloth and his voice is hilariously high-pitched for what you'd assume he should sound like based on his pictures. Generally I wouldn't hold this against anyone, but he's such a prick that it all just fits together like Autism Awareness puzzle pieces.

this is theoretically possible but extremely unlikely to happen.

this is never ever going to happen. i think she'd rather bankrupt herself than do that.

I think Vic realized when Funimation's lawyer said to him in deposition "We're past the point of burning bridges" that he's not going to go back with this management team.

If I was Vic, and after all of this was offered a job with either company again, I wouldn't even consider taking it unless the entire management had been changed over.

I'd make them pay me out until retirement, because you already know the second he goes back to either company, they're just going to nickle and dime him out of a job.

I think Vic is slowly starting to realize all of the people he thought the better of, are turning out to be vipers; He should look at new opportunities because he's outgrown this schoolyard

Here’s the simple calculus that most companies face when something like this pops up. It’s also something that the “creatives” almost never understand. Whenever your company gets drawn into these vast culture war battles, you piss off a portion of your paying customers. Traditionally those were always the ardent leftists, the centrist normies and conservatives tended to folllow the brand and not pay much attention to the outrage pimps. So the companies would always appease the leftists. This paradigm has shifted and they now get warring blowback. And the proportion of customers that leave is almost always greater than their margin of profits.

Funi and RT never expected this level of blowback from firing what the left labeled as “a predator”. They completely misread the room. They are getting blowback and loss of business from things that they never (but should have) anticipated would cause a problem. They also assume things about their audience without ever checking the numbers. So they are probably beginning to panic. Especially at RT as the AT&T chainsaws come closer every day.

The jaded pessimist shell that I have developed admits that Ty, Nick and the farms are right that the TCPA will fail, but Funimation will drag this out for years to the brink of bankruptcy, Monica and Ron will make some pathetic last stand when their legal counsel bows out due to unpaid bills and Jamie Marchi... Is just there I guess.

So I am oscillating between those two extremes right now.
My thoughts: Funation might settle and bow out first chance they get but might not give dirt. VAs will double down, and RT won’t bring back Vic since they recast Qrow already.

Well, there’s Sentai and Viz. Unfortunately, given the advent of anime seasons, it’s kind of hard to say what titles will be lasting hits, and what’s just the flavor of the month.

Rooster Teeth shot themselves in the foot long before we got here. Volumes 5 and 6 of RWBY burned a lot of goodwill outside of their little bubble, and Gen Lock isn’t the mega hit they thought it’d be when they got all those VAs.

If Rules 1 and 2 are SJWs always lie and SJWs always double down, then at this point it's safe to posit that rules 3 and 4 are SJWs always project and SJWs are always worse.

Yeah. They screwed up royally. So it seems to me that RT has two options:

1. Fight this, risking losing, paying at least a million as well as lawyer fees, and burning their reputation to the ground while AT&T is looking for superfulous expenses.

2 Settle with Vic, apologize profusely, delay RWBY to do redubbing for a few thousand dollars.

Even if they had something solid, they didn't bring it forward during this lawsuit so they are still undermining their reputation.

I can imagine the furtive glances between their executives as this every fucking day this takes bites out of them.

There's another point to consider that has a historical paralell...this time a business one.

Back in the mid to late 90s, the DOTCOM boom had all manner of new businesses pop up making big bucks, except they were hardware companies like Accelerated Networks, Nortel, US Robotics and others that were the 'names' of the day but are either long gone or shells of their former selves. The common denominator was that they had management that was filled with trend chasers and buzzword factories (If I never hear the word "Issues" again it will be centuries too soon).

Funi/RT and many of todays companies are filled with their modern counterparts except that while many dotcom companies had marginal if overly optimistic management, today's companies have business majors taught to hate and 'subvert' capitalism. The buzzworders of the last century are the PR/HR departments of today that mistakenly believe that social media can replace the laws of economics and pretty much every other law for that matter.

The dotcom boom crashed primarily due to corporate incompitence. Just something to consider.

No. They're going to do #3.

3. Ignore everyone to death.

Yeah, there are some angry ISWV and KV people hovering around them. Their best bet is to keep their damned heads down and wait for the swarm to fly over to Funimation once the blood hits the water.

Sadly, this would require the SJWs at RT to keep their damned mouths shut which is unlikely at best.

I don’t think option 2 can happen because they already got a new guy for Qrow and I’m not sure how far along they are in production.

Is it looking good for Vic at this stage? I follow Reiketa law occasionally and it seems like things are going well for Vics case, but in general these types of cases are hard to "win". Do you think even if a positive outcome is reached this man still has a career?

This mans life was ruined. There should be serious consequences for this sort of lying and embellishment. Any woman could come out of the woodwork and accuse a man and his life is ruined before due process. There are countless false-rape accusations exposed online from evidence, or directly where the woman comes clean later on. There are a handful of things in this world I'd call evil... Ruining someones life and livelihood like this is one of them...
