OK, I keep seeing this over and over.
But WHY NOT?
I mean, it isn't easy. You sell off what you can, buy a shitty hooptie if you don't have one, put your EBT card in one pocket and your TANF card in the other, gas up the car, put the wife and kids in it, and fucking drive the fuck off.
It isn't that fucking hard.
Yeah, life ain't gonna be easy. You're gonna have to stop somewhere that there's jobs that you're qualified for, probably rent a shitty single wide mobile home with a leaking roof till you get your feet under you, but you CAN do it.
This is fucking America. You don't need travel passes, you aren't held at gunpoint to live in some shithole. There isn't roving bands of Republicans on the Interstate dressed in leather assless chaps who'll hijack you for gas.
If you single, it's fucking easy. You buy a fucking greyhound ticket and hope for the best.
Or is it white privelege to assume you can go anywhere in America you want and just bust your ass, live within your means, and put in the effort to improve your life?
Why this is bullshit:
1. A huge chunk of city folk don't have cars. PERIOD. They walk everywhere or use public transportation or bum rides from family who do have cars.
2. Most barely make ends meet and worse, might be heavily in debt.
3. Some people in the city shun public assistance projects, even if they qualify. This isn't super common, but there are a lot of people (black and white) who are super prideful and see using foodstamps and welfare as a sign of moral weakness and will work two-three jobs or purposely go without food and clothing and other essentials simply so their kids don't starve/freeze, before they get onto those programs.
4. Relocating is not fucking easy as just moving out to another location.
One, you need work and it's super hard to get a job in a strange new town without references or help these days if you are a newcomer to the town. Expect to spend months with no money until you find one.
Two, if you move out of state you have to re-register with that new state for all of your welfare programs and that can take months to process. And worse, some states have super draconian rules about who qualifies for welfare (and require you have a job) so you can easily move to another state and find out that you no longer qualify for welfare in that new state. And if the previous state finds out that you didn't alert them to the move? If they find out, they can arrest you for welfare fraud.
Three; moving requires you to get a new place to live. Meaning unless you have a friend or family you can crash with or want to risk living out of your car (which can be risky too due to a lot of places arresting people who do this) or camp out somewhere, you are fucked. The alternative is finding a homeless shelter (which might not exist, if you move to a small town), permanently camping in the wild (which is just as risky for you being arrested if you get caught camping where you legally can't camp) or getting a hotel, which can be super fucking expensive, especially if you get one of those flop houses that charges you $500+ for a month's stay. And the former (hotels) WILL kick you out after a couple of weeks, since most states say you can't live in a licensed hotel for more than X-number of days.
Moving is not an option unless you have a robust support network and a LOT of money to burn through, until you get a job and on your feet. Which, in Weimer America, not an option as most American't can't even scrap together $400 for an emergency.
It's probably been posted in this thread before, but my encounters wtih - and may Allah forgive me for uttering this word - BOOMERS on facebook with TDS have reminded me of a couple truths that probably have been posted in this thread:
1. If Trump literally thought that he was going to be indicted for whatever as soon as he left office, what the fuck is stopping him from not stepping down peacefully from office and creating himself American Emperor like Caesar
It's ironically a sort of fait accompli farce-like aspect of TDS
They keep screaming that Trump is a fascist who wants to be dictator for life, while causing all sorts of havoc to basically create a self-fulfilling prophecy where Trump WILL eventually become a dictator for life purely to stop the lunatic left from staging an illegal coup and creating their own fascist dictatorship out of a desire to make sure another Trump never takes over.
