It's happening because of their favorite word..."Intersectionalism." Just not the kind they worked for.

First, you have to understand that a lot of this is hard left political at the core. The media/Hollywood messaging, the schools pushing diversity/sex/politics on kids, the various issues on as a result of social media, the snowflake BS...all this crap are things most people just don't want to deal with and they are pissed when they are being forced to change their values, behaviors and lives to comply with shit they want no part of.

Everyone has a pain threshold. Some people are willing to endure a lot before they finally say ENOUGH! and so far, that's been why the dipshits have been able to grab all manner of power across the various institutions and media.

Now, finially, people are hitting that threshold and seeing that they/their social circles, arent the only ones.

As for entertainment itself, just compare any modern outlet/product to 20-30 years ago. The modern crew is just rehashing/rebooting what was great then and fucking it up. Where is today's Evangellion, Terminator or Star Trek/Star wars? The modern versions are pure shit and no one in the mainstream has the talent to make anything new that's worth a fuck. Thats why the streaming services have failure after failure and their vintage content is their solid revenue stream.

And with nothing but snowflakes making games//TV/Movies/Books/Comics in the mainstream...and doing it with political/woke agendas, don't expect a change.

It's enough to make you want to just burn it all down in the hopes something new grows from the ashes, isn't it? When do you think that'll be?

A lot of people are, so not really. While I think them collapsing is unrealistic, the more likely but similarly unrealistic thing that might happen is the rumors will come to pass that their corporate overlords will come with the belt because they interrupted their drinking time.

As someone who's been watching general culture and trying to guess where it is going, I can give a good guess. The rubberband snapped.

Our culture was pushing for an ideal that demanded tons of benefits. Equality of opportunity, and relief for the lowest of status. But eventually, it demanded so much that systems holding their ideals together snapped and now everything is falling apart.

Equality of sexes was something that was being pursued, but the metoo movement is ironically creating a patriarchal system due to men not wanting to engage with woman in the workplace anymore.

And now we have social networking being on track to allowing information to spread on a speed never before seen bending used in a way that forces the people to inherently distrust it leading to social bubbles where information isnt spread.

It isnt a takeover form some nebulous force or the actions of a secret cabal. It's just the natural result of the endless pursuit of liberty. It's ironic that I would say liberty is the problem, because that would imply i have an issue with being free. I dont of course, but I do have an issue with the lack of responsibility these people have.

Look back at all the people in this controversy. Has anyone owned up to anything yet? Theres always mentioning of "doubling down" but why would they always do that? Because if they didn't they would have to own up to their mistake and take responsibility for their actions. They want to do anything they want and not deal with any negative consequence that comes from that action. They want to make publish their political opinions but get offended and remove the other sides opinions. They want to change popular products to ones that appeal to them and their beliefs. And if you disagree, they'll ignore you, remove you, or even destroy you. Because they want to do anything without negative consequence.

But the rubberband snapped, and now they have no choice but to deal with it.

Agree, and the way I think of leftist cultural power is like taxes - you have to perform at least at X level in order to be considered a "good person" according to the institutional left. This was incredibly powerful during the 1960s, where X was things like "don't call people 'nigger' and do other obviously racist bullshit". Almost everybody was on board, and it made a huge difference in the cultural fabric of the US.

The problem is that each additional person who wants to wield cultural power in this way has to add an additional line item to the mandatory set of behaviors. Merely upholding the status quo makes you irrelevant, and working it back makes you a persona non grata. It's an inexorable march of higher and higher cultural standards in order to be "woke" and fall in with the institutional left. And what do people do when taxes get too high? They stop complying, fight back, or otherwise work to reduce the effectiveness of the tax. Like, this has already happened to a large extent - back in the 60s, you were a bad person if you didn't meet the left's standards, but nowadays you're merely not "woke" and are pretty much free to ignore them.

We're already well past the compliance maximization point on the cultural Laffer curve. All that's left is for the sane people to wait as the Iron Law of Institutions (people work to maximize their power within the institution, rather than the health of the institution itself) works to make them irrelevant shrieking harpies that everyone outside San Francisco just ignores. (San Francisco can go rot in the cesspool of their own making for all I care, they're fucked anyhow due to their zoning and housing policies but that's a whole other rant).

What I'm really curious about is how these appear to be spun as something else well after the fact. In particular, the smiley face in the photo with Vic at the piano seems like an odd touch. Now it wouldn't be so strange if she had posted these on Friday right after they were taken, but these were posted in November, several months after the convention and after Kara would have told Mary about the terrible assault perpetrated on her by Vic Mignogna.

Thanks for pointing that out. I must have accidentally looked that the Animazement dates by mistake when doing doing the writeup. Kara has so few convention attendances that it's pretty easy to accidentally look at a convention from two years prior.
