I'll be honest, while I've got a gut feeling that you're largely right and he will go full lolcow in the near future, this whole thing does kind of piss me off. Particularly not at all subtle threats being leveled at the guy. There's a point where the stupidity of the party in question causes you to lose sympathy for them, in TUG's case I'm just not at that point, at least yet.

That is assuming that some people aren't using the moment of spotlight for gain. Look at the twins, they ignored their dox.

But look at Renfamous, TUG, and even some people who are begging to be doxxed.

Those people have a reason they want to be doxxed, and it's because it gets more attention to them. Truly is amazing when people who thrive and make a living of trying to be a public figure get so alligator-triggered when their public info is made more public.

When you have a family, especially kids, you shouldn't be trying to bring such negative attention to yourself. However showing them how angry you are (unless you're just waiting them in turn) is absolutely the worst thing to do because they'll simply keep picking at the scab.

All they need to know is:
1. Any serious action they take, including swatting, will potentially have serious legal consequences. They already know this and that's why they don't do shit.
2. If they do show up in person for any other reason than to have a civil discussion, they're potentially risking their own life.
3. They're fucking retarded losers with nothing better to do.

Seriously. Some weird fuck on Niche Gamer looked me up on Facebook and messaged my wife about my "homophobic, sexist, and racist comments" and also replied to comments on my post about my newborn baby.

I told him please don't bother people, but then I said you know what I can't stop you and they'll quickly see how much of a fucking idiot you are so do your worst.

He was challenging people to meet him in Michigan so he could tell them they're bigots to their faces. Could you imagine how fucking gay that interaction would be? "I'm going alone to meet a strange man in a park several states away just so he can say the same shit he's saying online."

Does he not expect anyone answering that challenge to simply spray him in the eyes with bear mace and then walk away?

She wasn't doxed as far as I know. I think people are mistaking the fact that we had a pretty good idea that she was the person Dahlin was referring to before it was confirmed some days later.

At the end of the Faisal Ahmed dox I had included Dahlin's tweet and speculated that it was almost certainly Erica. A little later on I had made a separate post on the rationale behind it and although most people probably didn't see it since this thread moves so fast some time later Svetlana rated it which essentially confirmed it as far as I was concerned. It wasn't too long after that when Erica came out with her statements on Twitter.

I think it was around the same time we dropped Vic's dox as well so people might have started getting their stories mixed up.

Not even following TUG it was clear he feared being doxed and that puts a bullseye on your back. In this day and age putting yourself out there as a content creator you have to be ready for it to happen, especially covering issues where one side will despise you. If those people smell blood in the water they'll swarm and that's what happened.

Nick's been asked about being doxed and he says it will probably happen and brushes it off as no big deal. Who knows if that is how Nick really feels but publicly it's the right way to go about it. Many people thought Metokur being doxed would be the end of him, and privately he may have been pissed, but publicly he no sold it to the point some people didn't believe his dox was his dox.
