Her dad left the force and they moved to Columbus, Nebraska. Here’s a cute little human interest story about the older sister’s experience
volunteering in animal shelters in Japan from a small town newspaper that has nothing else to write about. Dad left the Air Force to become an instrument technician for the Archer Daniels Midland company, a food processing conglomerate, in November 1997. Mom became an animal control officer in August, 1999 and eventually rose to Lead Officer by her retirement in 2016. In November 2000, little brother Josh was born. Now a legal adult and graduated from high school, Josh spends his time committing grand theft.

Other than her early life in Japan, Amanda had a totally normal Midwestern upbringing, playing volleyball and tennis, attending church, spending time with her family, and singing. Most of her early postings on the internet can be divided into three categories: 1) Jesus-sperging/Deep Thoughts ™; 2) family togetherness and/or pets; 3) food. Like the rest of her family, Amanda piled on the pounds over her adolescence and by her high school graduation she was ...solid. Not fat yet but definitely on the cusp. Her food posts showed that she cared very little about nutrition and more about “but can I put crushed oreos in it?” She often posted about various coffee chains’ seasonal sugar bombs which she seemed to buy very frequently. In 2007, a friend of hers was killed in a single-vehicle accident, the first real tragedy in her social media life. Jessica Jean Klug-Brehm died when she lost control of her vehicle on 400th Avenue north of Columbus and rolled into a ditch.

Ahem. Sorry. Amanda loved kids and spent a lot of time around them, working at Columbus Middle School’s after school program beginning in October 2006. She worked for a daycare called Cartoon Corner beginning in November 2007 but didn’t last very long, leaving it in January 2008. She took a job at a Christian daycare called Little Messengers in June 2008 teaching kids the wonders of God. She was a student leader for Youth for Christ from August 2008 until May 2009. She left her job at Columbus Middle School at the same time.

She graduated from Columbus High School in May 2008, but deferred her further education for two years, starting at Southeast Community College in 2010, where she became a student ambassador in her first year. She was studying communications and quit her job at Little Messengers in 2010 to work at Finch on the Run Entertainment & Productions in Bennet, Nebraska as an office manager. Around this time she became more active in posting, showing scenes of a happy family life and friends.

As part of her college program, she interned for Froggy 98 FM country music radio in 2011. Other than meeting the radio personalities she listened to, she reported very little in the way of happy times during her tenure at this prestigious academy. In Summer, 2012, she and her family went on vacation of Walt Disney World, and based on her reaction this was the first time she’d ever visited the Vacation Kingdom of the World. This trip changed her life course, but that will come in due time. The family also visited Universal Studios, but Amanda was less impressed by the this latter theme park, feeling that the customer service was not as good and it was not quite the magical experience she had at Disney. She barely mentions going there at all, spending her whole vacation report talking about Disney. Towards the end of the trip, she also visited her grandparents in Stuart, Florida, a beach community just south of Port St. Lucie.

In September of that year she began pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln studying social work and psychology. Her Facebook use grew over this time as she lived near campus and away from her home. Despite a diet of shit food and alcohol, skipping sleep to study, and her abusive relationship which was stressful and caused her to publicly vaguebook constantly, Amanda had no major health issues while at college.

At the end of her first semester, she joined a now-defunct MLM called Uppercase Living that sold vinyl wall decals. Also her mom had to have gallbladder surgery which I mention only because she did.

After this flurry of activity, her posting sharply decreased. Whether she was posting things as friends only and I’m just not privy to them or it was because she moved home to escape the abusive relationship and was avoiding talking to people or deleted a bunch of shit or what, I’ve no idea. It's entirely possible there were dozens of photos with her boyfriend in them that she nuked after they broke up. She did later say her mother and sister drove out to the place she was living to pick her up at 3 am on very short notice when she was ready to leave him, but doesn’t specify when that was. But slowly she came back to us. In Spring she came out of her silence to sperg about Jesus. Then she announced she was going to get healthy and lose weight and the literal next day she’s drinking and eating at a dive bar. Lol. Vagueposting also continued.

You can see she gained quite a bit of weight since her last photos. Even just from her Disney trip a year prior it’s really obvious she’s gotten a lot bigger. Speaking of Disney, she started posting about it a lot more towards the end of the semester along with taking her weight more seriously… for five seconds. At the end of the summer she regret this choice to live large (literally) and announced THIS time she was SERIOUS about losing weight. And then made cookies. On September 25 she made the big reveal: she applied for and was accepted to the Disney College Program. This is an “internship” where students work grueling hours at menial jobs in the Disney parks for a semester for almost no pay, most of which goes towards rent at company-owned apartments and food at company-owned restaurants, take some disney-run professional development classes, and somehow this is supposed to help them in their careers. She would spend the Winter-Spring 2014 semester working at Walt Disney World, a dream come true for our little warrior. She decided that this was the chance that would change her life. The rest of 2013 was filled with excitement and preparing for the big day. She started a blog to document the magic. She also started her Youtube channel although, sadly, this was nuked in 2018 with no archives. She even dressed up as Minnie Mouse for Halloween in celebration of this personal victory. This decision also fueled her to actually lose some weight in the hopes of buying a new wardrobe for her trip.

The one break from the unrelenting excitement was the death of her friend and former coworker at Little Messengers, Amanda Asche, who also died in an automobile accident, this time caused by a drunk driver. Other than that, she was so excited she barely posted about the end of the semester or Christmas. It was all Disney all the time.

On January 8, 2014 the Winigs set out on a long drive to Florida to drop their dear daughter off at her temporary home. She enjoyed some time at the universal parks and shopping at Downtown Disney while she waited for the big day.

Now I know some of you guys are probably like “KFS, this is the munchies board, not the Boring Adult Disney Fanatics board.” Patience, it is important that we establish that through the first almost-decade of her internet presence, Amanda was almost offensively healthy if a little overweight. She ate out, drank alcohol, rode roller coaster, played sports, and went out with friends late at night then got up early for work. Knowing this makes her evolution into Skinwalker that much more hilarious. So stick with me here. She got a job working at the EPCOT parking lot which involved standing on blacktop in all kinds of weather but mostly the oppressive Florida heat, humidity, and sunshine, to ensure people parked in an orderly and efficient manner. She makes few complaints about this, and when she does it’s same complaints all Florida residents make about our weather like, “it should not be this humid in February” and “oh god it’s only 50 degrees out today, I’m freezing!” Nothing about being sick, dizzy, or passing out. By February she’s hinting that she might stay in Florida permanently.

But mostly it seems like her life is sunshine, lollypops, and rainbows. She enjoyed going to the parks and to the many parties Disney throws for its DCP members. And because Disney barely pays its workers least of all its interns, she lost more weight on a self-reported diet of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, pop tarts, and wine. She even won a perfect attendance award.

But even that was just a minor glitch in an otherwise perfect DCP experience. She even went on launched, inverted coasters with no problems. And she still had the stomach for tons of alcohol and sugary coffee drinks. [Author’s note: JellyRolls is a Disney-owned bar at the Disney-owned Boardwalk Inn but locals also frequent it because it’s got great entertainment and surprisingly strong drinks. Highly recommended. Even though things were sometimes stressful like when she had 21 consecutive days of work, she stuck it out. A lot of people quit or get “termed” from this program for minor things, so you have to kind of respect her tenacity here.

Later that week she announced she was staying in Florida permanently. She wasn’t sure whether she was going to extend her internship again, try to go full time, or take their professional development classes but she knew Disney World was where she was meant to be. In July she applied for another extension of her EPCOT parking position. She “reverse transferred” her college credits to Central Community College in Grand Island, Nebraska and got an Associates degree. Her only health complaint was her ever-present struggle to lose weight when delicious food was all around.

So this little rant might be about Brian Finch, her boss at Finch on the Run, which she seems to have had a romantic relationship with and whose home she seems to have lived in during her semester at college. Finch is about 10-12 years her senior and has a history of bouncing checks and tax evasion and at least one of his employees offed themselves. She left that job right after she accepted the DCP position, months before it actually started. However she seems to have moved home months prior to that, so I really can’t be certain.

‘Okay,” I hear you cry, “when does she start faking illnesses?” Soon, soon. I promised a complete retrospective and it is important that we set up her life prior so that we may fully grieve for the healthy young woman she destroyed and/or mock what she's become. By now she had sharply declined in her Facebook use again and was way more active on Instagram. Unfortunately for her fan club (of which I am obviously the president) she locked down her instagram in 2018 and does not accept randos. From memory, most of her posts were more of the same. Lots of food, scenery, Disney photos, goofing off with roommates. Importantly, anons from LCF reported while it was still active that there was no mention of being sick at all until a specific trigger, which is also how I remember it. So at least we have something resembling verification that she was not kvetching about her health yet. However, this complicates our retrospective because anons only capped some of her posts and none of her vlogs are archives. I’ll recreate these years as best as I can.
Highlights of 2015 year included being chosen for the Candlelight Cast Choir which performs nightly during the holidays, and being selected for a new position as concierge at the Polynesian Village Resort. She moved to the Camden Town Square Apartments in formerly Disney-owned planned community Celebration now that she no longer qualified for the DCP housing. A two-bedroom here is a cool $1600 but she lived with several roommates. She also visited the Bahamas on the Disney Fantasia cruise ship and ran a 5k while she was there. She's healthy, happy, and loving life.

By now she was really not posting much at all on Facebook. All I can find of her life in 2016 is she was still working at the Polynesian, and she visited Disneyland, she seems to have gone back to Nebraska to meet her new niece around February, and her family came to visit. Still looks healthy as all hell and was up for a promotion to Guest Relations which failed to materialize. On or near November 10, her parents and brother moved to Clermont where her mother took up a job as Walt Disney World Security and her father took a job with Polk County’s Board of Common Commissioners. Her brother studied at South Lake High School in nearby Groveland.
