Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

Just saw this post over in A&H, which while not directly related to the case is probably just more trouble for Funimation: https://kiwifarms.net/threads/funim...ompany-translates-lolicon-to-pedophile.59086/

I wonder if it really was a mistake or if it was someone changing lines/translations to fit their own personal narrative again.
I'd want to know the context. If it's one character calling another for perving on little girls then I'd be inclined to let it go. If they're throwing shade at show fans then they're being dumb by calling it a mistake when it's obviously their usual treatment of the matter.

Funi are being re.tarded about the whole thing. Own it or don't do it in the first place.

I know this is speculation, but it needs spread around. Vic Mignogna asked two twins to come to his room and they did, fearfully. Then he said I'd like to have sex with you and they said no and they were very uncomfortable and terrified. Then they left and never spoke of it for years until their housemates launched a social media fatwa on him. They also sexually assaulted Norman Reedus with twincest by smooching his cheeks at the same time. He looked SCARED.

ALL THESE PEOPLE ARE DANGEROUS!

Zack is an asshole. He also mocked Richard Meyer's tortious interference case with Fuck Waid. He's simply a shit head who will jump to conclusions and smear someone based on whether or not he likes them. Good ally to have!

Anyone wanna bet on fansub groups making a comeback?

Fansubs went away?

Granted Horriblesubs is where I get most of my shit lately, and they literally just rip the CR subs from CR releases and put them on actually decent raws.

But yeah this isn't the first time Funimation has been involved in bullshit localization choices, and won't be the last. But...

I thought the woke left loved pedophiles? Why would they use the term as an insult? Or is this 4D chess and they're trying to get loli fans to support the LGBTP movement?

Edit: Also he discusses extremist Christians in this video about another incident, where Ohayacon and Youth Christian convention (Dare To Share) were in the same place, and where he complained to the pastors that the youth were making fun of the cosplayers and was not the spirit of christianity.

It always gets exceptional when religious groups share a space with a convention. If you want to see a real shitshow look up Katsucon 2013 when they shared the venue with (((BBYO))).

Stahhhhp. In the original ANN article they used some pics from Vic's fansite. The girls in those photos came forward so ANN purged them and gave some mealy-mouthed excuse.
The pictures of girls left are those sourced directly from people featured in the article telling their stories. There is no more "gotcha" to be found here. Autists have pored over it for months and have not found anything else. It's over.

The remaining pictures are almost certainly voluntarily there, but there's still some benefit to trying to discover who they are. They might tie back into MoRon again.

Incredibly, the twins have now gone from underage girls when Vic first met them, to 19 years of age and the incident not happening last year to prompt Moronica to come forward with her story; but in 2015.

So what happened last year Moronica that made you want to come forward with your story?

Could it be that Vic and Michelle Specht broke up and this is all part of the VA’s getting revenge on Vic for Michelle?

If they're so mad about Michelle why wouldn't they just tell her he was cheating on her or do this to him long before? Waiting a whole year after the two broke up so they could reopen old wounds for Michelle seems like the opposite of doing anything in her best interests.
What in the litreal fuck

Where the fuck did these allegations come from

When did Vic ever pretend to be gay? Seems like they're mad they misinterpreted signals and are now defensive about it.

That seems to accurately represent the tone. Lolicon can be used for people who exclusively like drawn 'lolis' and for people who like actual kids. (most -cons are a reference to what they like in reality, not just the hentai they like) That's the joke behind the child creeper in Hajime no Gal. In the case of that situation where a secret porn stash has embarrassing art and the girl says 'I didn't know you were a lolicon' rather than 'I didn't know you liked/had lolicon' you'll probably get the meaning the dialog is trying to convey best by using 'pedophile' in the dub.

Back in the golden fansub day’s of the mid 2000s, the fansub groups would just slap on some TN note.

Not gonna lie, it's pretty depressing seeing Arkada officially endorse this bullshit.
I unsubscribed from him a while ago because I just wasn't enjoying his content, but I didn't have any problems with him personally.
I mean, I guess I'm not surprised, given his ties with TFS, crunchy roll, and his shilling for the localization industry as a whole. But still, he never struck me as the koolaid drinking type before now.

I just hope Gigguk doesn't fall into the same hole. He has a pretty good history of (passively) calling out sjw bullshit, and not buying into nontraversys (See his videos on Goblinslayer, Rise of the sheild hero, Netflix Eva dub, etc).

So until he proves otherwise, I'm just going to assume he's playing it safe, and not commenting on the situation until it resolves. As cowerdly as that might seem, it would be understandable given his own ties to the industry and all the people who are openly kickvic.

Then again, I don't use twitter, so I'm pretty blind to that side of it. I'd rather know than not, so if anyone does know of Gigguk being a sped I'd appreciate them posting it on KF.

Not cowardly at all. Never heard of him, but at 1.9M YT subs, he's doing the smart thing--viewing/conducting his channel as a business (it just so happens to be centered on a subject he likes).

I wasn't calling him a coward, just responding to the obvious inference that some would derive. I'd do the same (and have done the same) where taking a public stance on something I believed in would have damaged not only my personal relationships but could have effected my employability as well. Like with this ISWV thing. I donated to the GFM, and have talked about it with my immediate family and one Freind, but it will never go beyond that.
