This is.... Fascinating shit.
I'd say it's creepy, too, but honestly, after the likes of Deeker and Nick Bate, some dude re-enacting his own personal Pygmalion seems almost quaint in contrast. It's a hard world, you can, with effort, sort of understand someone retreating into fantasy to that degree. We've seen similar, after all, from many lolcows.
So what is it that makes Coffin different? That's kind of a loaded question, but the simple answer, for me, is context.
When you see what else is involved, it quickly goes into the territory of "holy shit, are you serious," territory. The degree to which he carries on the charade, the fact that his relatives and friends seem to be fine with it. The fact that all of it seems to be to prove he's legit and not a loser of apocalyptic scale. The fact that he absolutely has to have people recognize how awesome his relationship with artificial waifu is. It'd be one thing to simply claim to be with her and leave it at that, but nein, he's taken this to a degree that goes beyond any level of common sense. Any rational person would have given up on this madness years ago, but Coffin's held on, like OPL gripping his Optimus Prime truck in an ultimately vain effort to stave off his homosexuality. That it persisted beyond the PI debacle is.... Amazing, to say the least. This dude is denying reality harder than Captain Walker.
Years ago, I remember some dorky fansite where some dude claimed to be married to some character I had never heard of from an anime I likewise had never heard of. He, too, had a Realdoll that was used for shots, but the difference is that this guy was in on the joke, so it actually was somewhat clever and very tongue-in-cheek (and explained as much in an FAQ page). It's amazing how a few tiny changes can take a hilarious concept like the animu guy was running and turn it into a tragic maelstrom of resentment and isolation like this.
