If you look into the actual way they report their numbers, I am pretty sure you will discover shennanigans. IE fudged numbers. If they are reporting like the comics industry, they are reporting papers shipped, not papers actually sold to end reader. Which means far lower actual readership. Thats the way my old paper used to do it since it makes it easier to sell ads. "We have a CIRCULATION of X." The problem is that while there are "X" papers in circulation, "Y" of them never leave the newsstand/point of sale.

So is it really 214K READERS or is it 214K circulation? Thats the tell.

It's probably a bit less, but newspapers don't tend to do the comics fuckery because they don't tend to have a ridiculous corporate backer that will happily sink millions into wasted print runs. Lots of local newspapers in particular outsourced their printing to third parties as a cost saving measure a long while back. Said printers won't tolerate pointless overruns either.

My experience was that printers will print whatever number you tell them and higher numbers are cheaper rates. I don't doubt that the papers have pulled back their runs somewhat, But if they pull back to close to actual readership, they are gonna lose their ass on their ad rates because it's directly attached to circulation. So if they overprint significantly, they can charge more per ad/page etc. The money isn't in copy sales. It's in ad revenue.

It's now officially #MeToo! The movement that trivializes sexual assault and rape, what heroes!

So, it turns out that Lemoine was the one that reached out to Dallas News to have the story covered. In the article it shows that they had interviews with Marchi's lawyer and took a glamor shot of Lemoine at their office.

The article uses his verbiage, and even tries to paint Nick as saying the lawsuit is for "grinding these women into dust".

WHEW LAD.

I can't wait til Judge Chupp sees that Lemoine ran to the media to poison the jury well :story:

They always double down and will get more crazy/out there with each new 'revelation.' They will also expand their target list to anyone involved thats pro-Vic. Bet the farm on it.

Pretty much. Vic is the Harvey Weinstein, and while they got the firing part down, Vic fought back at the "blacklist him and let him fade into obscurity" part of the #MeToo phase. With the fixing the broken staircase doc and with the potential of how the legal proceedings play out, the plans for an industry purge may have just well been revealed. Now this Dallas Morning News article is them admitting that they're trying to get the #MeToo train into the anima industry because doing so quietly didn't achieve the proper results.

Lemoine contacted them to run the article, he's so assblasted that he's going to lose the TCPA he's trying to broadcast the case to potential jurors

Yep. looks like KV is going on the offensive again, and just like when it's started, the strategy is bombardment.

The problem with this is that it is publicity. Probably publicity that Funimation and rooster Teeth didn't want. This might attract the attention of other publications as well as higher up in Sony and Time Warner.

Either funimation is going to get shamed I to defending Rial and Marchi or really look like shit when they settle or lose the case.

Is it confirmed? If true... it won't be pretty. This is such a scummy move on so many levels. But nothing is beneath the Darth Inhaler here.

All the corporate parties have been pretty quiet. And anything about their respective daddy overlords coming with the belt is just speculation with no strain of verification or ringing true possible. As for the "Funimation defending the VAs", between the talk of TCPAs, independent contractors, and agents, I'm trying to figure out that through line because it's getting pretty muddy now. If anything, that scenario may be a defendant shooting themselves in the foot.

Also, about 99% of publications that talk about this case will come across as #KV, even if there isn't some ANN shit going, because honestly, who would go against #MeToo in this climate?

It's in the article. They interviewed Marchi's lawyer, and Lemoine was on-site with Marchi and Monica apparently (they used the same photo backdrop).

Timing is suspect as it's being released on the aftermath of Lemoine losing his opposition to Ty's motion, and the article uses all of Lemoine's talking points and also paints Rekieta as saying the lawsuit is intended to "grind these women into dust" which is only something he's been regurgitating.

The person who wrote it has been an orbiter of Douchette, and only thought to make the article now.

Also the fact that Lemoine is the last lawyer mentioned in the article lends to the fact that he was the one who came to them first. Speaking from experience in the field, it's something you do to protect your sources; make them seem insignificant, hence why she quoted Marchi's lawyer first, then mentioned Ty and Funi both refused to comment, and several paragraphs lower, mention Lemoine.
