I thought calling it a fundraiser was against TOS?
You can ask for money on Twitch, as long as you comply with the "Acceptable use of bits" policy, like @actually said. And as far as I'm aware of, it's perfectly fine to have a "fundraiser" if you're careful with what you say, (even if it's a personal fundraiser).

Now in Twitch's TOS there is a section that prohibits to make 'solicitation offers', however I believe this is only applied when done through spam/junk mail, as you can see in the image, (charity requests is included, if it's done through those means), e.g. having a bot to send offers through PMs to new visitors.

There is another thing that makes me sure of this, and it's that it includes "contests" & "charity" on it. You can do those on Twitch, (charity has been done, and DSP's Minecraft contest was acceptable to some Twitch Admin), so this section must only apply when done through spam.

He said he really had to go to the bathroom - he's been holding it in. Now that might be a lie because he hit the top of the hour and wanted to get the hell out on time.
But it seems to be a recurring thing, even when it isn't a stall tactic. He can't seem to regulate his bathroom usage... it's pretty simple, if you know you're occupied for a few hours, go before the stream and you should be fine. He either has the mind of a child, or he has some control issues. He did say before that was a possible symptom of his back condition - he might be nearly incontinent.

Someone offered to get him Samurai Showdown... yesterday, I think. But Phil said he didn't think it'd be popular, and he wouldn't gaurantee it for any more than one stream. He also said "I understand it's more about footsies and you can't really string combos together." But he said it in a tone that implied it was detrimental rather than literally everything he has asked for in a modern fighter. Probably because he realizes if it's true, he won't have his go-to excuse when he gets bodied.
Have you seen the amount of water Phil drinks?

What the fuck, autism incarnate

Phil raging after "playing" (just simming playing only offense) after upping Madden's difficultly from rookie to pro because of a fumble.

"I don't work my ass off for him to just fumble. Don't blame me, blame EA for making a shit game."

This is a strong contender for one of his worst playthroughs ever.
He gets rocked at Pro difficulty and is obviously having a field day on Rookie and gloats about it.

Love some of the interactions with his viewers btw.
Someone told him about a result in Dragonball FighterZ at Evo, and he was like "OoOookay? Cool? Maybe that's news to you, but not to meEEee? Guess what, I DON'T CARE!"
He deserves to lose absolutely everything and end up homeless.

It's basically his MLB "gameplay" where he pushes a button a couple of times, and the game takes care of the rest. In some cases, Phil literally hands off to an AI running back (which is done automatically on a running play), who then runs for a TD, and Phil celebrates like a reeeeeetard eating cake.

Remember he is on rookie mode. The game basically forces you to win. Those 10 or so snaps when he was on pro made him try. And with Phil, we only try with begging.

Fundraisers are pretty common on Twitch, for both large and small channels. Usually the only thing that changes is the goal. On the speedrunner side of Twitch, there were a decent amount recently to help with travel costs to the big events. There's probably some more going on to fund travel to Twitchcon. I don't really follow fighting game stuff, but there was probably some stuff for EVO as well. There's also general ones for new streaming equipment and the like, plus various charity events. As long as you're careful with the language, it's all good. Even if you break it, you won't be perma banned. You might eat a slap on the wrist temp ban. Actually getting caught is pretty hard in general too, think about how many streams exist on Twitch versus how many are moderated/the sheer number of reports Twitch mods get at any given time. I think DSP only got caught last time because he was doing it over and over in his daily prestreams.

This has nothing to do with TOS, but the reason Phil's fundraisers stand out more in comparison to everyone else is the general lack of associated goals. Using the above examples, the streamer usually promises to do behind the scenes vlogs, fan meetups, collab vids etc. With the bigger events like ESA, the streamer has already paid for their ticket and is playing a game/doing commentary duties and are just trying to recoup the costs. Either way, they're doing something special or offering extra content. People who do more personal ones to fund a better streamer PC are increasing their stream quality, but they generally promise to do extra streams or something on top of that. Phil's goals are either nonexistent or lazy things that barely fit the technical definition of a goal, like his most recent "positive reveal". That has nothing to do with TOS though, just another example of why Phil is a bad streamer.

Regarding the contest thing, I think the conversation with the Twitch dude was legit, but I think Twitch dude just didn't care and gave a generic answer to justify it because he was off the clock and had 0 interest in the goutsphere. Remember, DSP is infamous here because, well, the place is named after him, but your average Twitch related person will at best remember him as that dude that jerked off on cam or that guy who is really bad at MGS. If Phil keeps doing it and people keep reporting the violation without REEEing in the report I could see him getting in trouble, but I don't think it'd lead to a perma ban or anything, probably just a generic email warning with maybe a temp ban if he kept it up.

Just remember that this is the guy that created a mongoloid version of himself in WWE 2k15 and had the announcers refer to him as "The King of Gaming", so make of that what you will. I wonder if he made a WWifE for his in-game persona, since he may or may not have been engaged to PandaLee at that point (depending if his local store had any tinfoil in stock).

He got drafted (to Miami... tons of goat laughs for some reason), and ...
Just an archive.

The joke here, and I can't recall where it is but I want to say it was explained in a night stream during maybe Minecraft (???), is someone asked him which was his least favorite place to visit and he said he didn't like Miami because the area of the city he saw when he was there was dirty, tough to navigate around and in general he didn't like any part of being there. So of course he's drafted to their video pro football team. Sorry I can't specifically cite where that's discussed but it's on that archive somewhere I'm sure of it, maybe one of you more knowledgable detractors can cite the stream and time code for verification?

I thought you were exaggerating.

This is the saltiest, most ridiculous thing I have ever seen.

EA made a bad game because his receiver fumbled. ONCE!

Something random happened not in DSP's favor? Bad game design. Not fun at all.

Start at 4:20.

Projecting so hard in a few minutes he's gonna need his own HDMI port.

Maybe you work one of those 9-5 jobs, but I don’t think you understand. PHIL WORKED HIS ASS OFF for that completion. He labored so hard; put in his blood, sweat, and tears into that video game only to get fucked over by idiots who don’t know how to program a fucking game after 20+ years. Phil is truly one of the hardest working people I’ve ever seen. His work ethic is unparalleled. I don’t know how he does it. I’m worried if he keeps this up, he may work himself into an early grave.

Yeah, pressing a button and watching the AI do the rest is such hard work. Even within the context of the game that statement is still stupid considering the game is only on normal difficulty. Madden is an unbelievably easy game to play against the AI, even at the highest difficulty levels. Literally the first time he encounters any sort of challenge he goes on a pissbaby rant. I guarantee you if the roles were reversed and it was his team that benefited from the fumble, he'd be celebrating and praising EA for making the game fair. What a stupid, immature asshole. He must have been a joy to play sports with as a kid.

Difficulty aside, the curious thing is that this is exactly what happened with MLB. He plays a limited role in a sim mode, which he seems to think is the definitive mode for sports games... I guess because it looks like a story? He then complains when his simulated team loses the simulation in spite of his "hard work". But the team losing is relatively inconsequential, he just doesn't like to be associated with the loss.

However, he refuses to touch other modes of the game that would give him more control because then losses would be his fault, or he would have to actually try to learn a variety of mechanics. And then to top it off, this weird contradictory mess of ego and goals is beyond the scope of the developers, so Phil blames them for this being some kind of failure. It's just all so nonsensical and childish.

The Madden series is also the go-to for kids who didn't play Mario Kart as the biggest example of rubber-banding AI. It's "unfair" when you're winning because it's trying to be interesting and exciting for what could be 60 minute games. They've perfected that kind of moment-to-moment game flow. You're always on the ropes until you really get good, then you raise the difficulty.

But Phil would rather do the least amount of effort and every game be a short blowout. Something something insert sex joke.
