It's definitely not Gaming Garbage. Lowtax made a big thing a few months ago about how hospital bills were killing him, and people rushed to toss money at him. The Gaming Garbage Patreon was just an easy way to toss a bunch of cash at him. None of the people who donated to him since April ever gave a shit about his stupid youtube channel, they just thought "we gotta save Lowtax or our forums will die!"

He even bitched about how nobody else seemed to give a shit about Gaming Garbage, which largely scrapes by with maybe 2-3k views per video.

He's just getting paid to do nothing right now, and that's probably why his Patreon has been steadily declining since the massive surge when he first asked for help. Nobody cares about his youtube channel, and neither does Lowtax apparently. None of the money is going to go into improving his website, because his website is his only source of actual income and he'd rather pay off his medical bills than migrate SA to forums software that wasn't coded by an incompetent madman.

Meanwhile Zen Death Robot has been unceremoniously de-modded a second time, so there goes one of the few people retarded enough to try to unfuck SA's source code for free. The Patreon money will continue to decline because he's given nobody a reason to keep donating, aside from holding an already dying website hostage and a general sense of pity from a population of posters that are overall even more troubled and emotionally damaged than Lowtax. Lowtax's health will continue to decline and more bills will come, because nobody's health ever improves as they get older. Something Awful will continue to decline, and to an even worse degree than all the other old-ass websites nobody cares about anymore because unlike Rich Kyanka and Something Awful, Tom Fulp still gives a shit about Newgrounds.

Back when Lowtax was posting about how he couldn't pay his bills in April, he also said that ZenDeathRobot just flat out disappeared after doing his own SA sponsored Gofundme in Christmas. He said that he thought ZDR ripped him off, and then decided to get rid of him as an admin.

Then a few days later Lowtax came out to say that no, ZDR was really just having communication issues, it was all a big misunderstanding on his part, please don't be mean to ZDR. And ZDR was given his admin star again.

Then we go to now and a few posters noticed that ZDR had been removed as an admin again, though when this happened nobody can say as he hasn't even posted since February. There was no explanation for it this time, but I doubt he's coming back.

Despite Lowtax admitting that the forums more than pay for themselves he keeps letting dumb autistic goons convince themselves that Lowtax is the same thing as the forums. So when Lowtax started begging for money the word spread that Something Awful Forums were going to be shut down. Goons on a half dozen discords I'm in were spreading this same talking point and it went through every subforum on SA complete with banner ads and admin announcements.

The flood of money to the gaming garbage patreon was because goons thought their forums were broke and on the verge of shutdown, and Lowtax is too big of a piece of shit to explain that they are just paying him so that he doesn't have to get a job and that the forums are completely self-sustaining. The problem is they can just no longer sustain a unemployed drunk's entire family at a level he finds comfortable.

I think even if he explained that the potentially six figures of extra donations over the past 3 years have gone straight into his pocket and done nothing for the forums that goons would still convince themselves they weren't wrong.
