Ironically, if they think 8chan really is a problem, this is actually a bad thing for them. Daily Stormer was dropped by Cloudflare and was maybe down for a week before they got a new host and, apparently, almost double the traffic they had with Cloudflare. According to Prince, Cloudflare is more responsible in what they host and being cooperative with law enforcement than other hosts are, so 8chan is now more untouchable and better off in a way if they come back with a host who doesn't give a shit. But because of PR bullshit, Cloudflare had to drop them, which means any website they used to host is now more lawless and free but the public will see it as a "win" or something

My opinion is that until that Gamergate line, no dubs really did anything exceptionally stupid. Also, for some, watching the fansubs with the karaoke OPs and the "Not for sale or rent!" shit is a rite of passage for anime fans in America. It's one of the biggest ways for anime fans to get hipster points.

Funimation did actually have good dubs back in the late 90s and early 2000s, i.e. .hack//SIGN. Now, the dubs are just pretty subpar at best, probably because better voice actors moves on to video games and other stuff.

Wasn't that also the time they got DBZ? Only ones I watched from that time was Noir (2001) and Samurai Champloo (2004). Also, didn't they do anime gold standard and Internet darling Cowboy Bebop?

As for Vic being replaced, that depends on the contract. I don't believe the Funimation contract made any guarantees about USING the audio tracks. Merely that the contractor would be paid for providing them.

So RT could settle because they know it is coming, issue an apology, postpone RWBY for a month while they redub.

Basically they have to sit down and do the calculus of:

1. Fight, risking lawyer fees, at least 1 million plus potential punitive damages all for woke points.

2. Settle with Vic. Pay him damages, the replacement voice actor probably had a 300 dollar pay check. Pay Vic 300. Pay some audio techs overtime to Redub. Total cost = SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN 1 MILLION DOLLARS.

Matt Hullum not controlling the voice actors is probably more important now because Funimations going to get sodomized with a red hot poker over the "Employee vs Independent Contractor" debate. As far as VA jobs...that's harder to say. There honestly aren't a lot of options for anime voice acting, and while video games are an option (particularly indie games), his name doesn't really have that much cachet in that field.
