I really try not to get ahead of myself with such speculation, but that being the case is just way more consistent with what we know than anything else.

I don't know of any case any specific case like that in BC but people have been charged for CP that turned out to be incidental.

If you were using Usenet to download porn during those times it was highly likely you ended up with CP on your computer
Most people used bulk downloaders, so unless you went through all the pictures one by one, you didn't know it was even there.

Some of the chans had CP as well, just viewing the pages meant you wound up with CP in your browser cache.

I can't imagine a world in which I would identify myself to a police officer and provide him/her with access to my devices or accounts to show them exactly how I (through no fault of my own) came into possession of child porn. And I don't have any child porn. Why give the cops the chance to bang you up for one of the three felonies a day that everyone commits?

This is a clearly just a Hail Mary from a confirmed pedo who's simply trying to come up with a good explanation for why there are at least traces in cache files of child porn on his computer.

Canada does not have a key disclosure law- which is great in general but not in this particular case- so let's hope this would be chomo was too arrogant to encrypt his devices.

There’s two real possibilities with his stunt of telling the police about CP:
1. As others have said, he’s setting up to claim the CP wasn’t his.
2. He’s lying about calling the police himself and trying to make it seem like HE initiated this when really it was a CP raid and his defense will now be “Why would I tell them myself if it was mine??”
