If the Police were smart they wouldn't have challenged him, just nodded sympathetically, tell him he's very brave, kept asking him questions and let him hang himself.

Also there is a certain trend in policing where if they're standing in front of someone investigating a complaint, it can help the stats (if they're recorded in that way) where say instead of just investigating a single potential offense of having a prohibited weapon, they could also be investigating the same suspect for Child Porn. So two recordable offenses, with only a small increase in man hours.

An extra attraction for the Police, is that Yaniv isn't some homeless vagrant (yet) that they have to track down to question. They know where he lives, where to issues summonses to , other than the fact he's trans (and a protected group) he'd be the perfect mark for a lot of policemen.

They got the ACTUAL weapons in his ACTUAL possession. A full forensic search of electronics at that point would be a fishing expedition. If they were looking for CP the warrant mentioned more than evidence of stun gun and bear spray ownership.

Judges sign shitty warrants every day. There's basically no burden of proof required on a LEO is quite similar to the US:

The parameters of a search warrant are determined before it is executed, not afterwards. They could not have known, at the time of constructing any such warrant, if he would have the weapon in his possession upon execution. So we get back to needing forensic evidence to use video for the purposes of proving guilt and why they may include electronic equipment as searchable items. Investigators don't stop executing a warrant halfway through when they find a weapon if there are other materials specified on the warrant. Search warrants, as a rule, authorize and require the police to execute them fully.

Also, ECDs (as opposed to pepper spray, which has a legit use) are not legal to sell in Canada except to police. Authorities would therefore have a legitimate interest in determining what intermediate parties, if any, broke the law by importing them; another reason (or excuse) to investigate his electronic activity. If Jonathan is as dumb as we know he is it would be easy to come across his deviant shit when looking for records of where he obtained illegal items. Given the discretion afforded by judges to other judges when signing out warrants and the low evidentiary standard needed JY better get Rusell Greer as his lawyer if he wants to beat it.

He probably thinks he has a good relationship with the police, when in reality it's probably because they would lose their jobs if they didn't enable him in current year Canada. If they didn't take his claims seriously and something actually happened (as unlikely as that is) there would have been asses on the line. He spent some hours in jail and lost his tasers, yeah that kinda sucks. But does anyone seriously believe he’s going to do hard time for this?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but unless something drastically changes, he’s going to get a slap on the wrist in the form of a fine or a suspended sentence, since he doesn’t have a record and is a poor, persecuted lady.

I didn’t say it was actual CP. I was thinking a pic of some young girls in a pool or some shit like that, that somebody wrote “Ha! Good luck finding little girls while in jail for weapons charges!” underneath.
