I think that he bought into the notion that Channel Awesome was this big family. When CA was at its peak, it really gave that impression.

Except they all went to Doug, willingly, to be on the site, they knew, saw how he acted and put up with it. Because they thought they were going to be famous.

I have a feeling a lot of what Doug is accused of is framed in the worst light. They complained that Doug didn't fire Justin fast enough, but it turns out he fired Justin in 3 weeks, AFTER consulting a lawyer AND interviewing an actual victim. 3 weeks for a proper investigation, one that apparently was about a million times more professional than Funimantion's investigation of Vic at that, to release someone accused of sexual misconduct is actually lightning fast.

Personally, I think while Doug and Rob and Mike didn't know what was going on, Holly definately knew and shielded the fuck out of the situation until it got so bad that something had to be done. This isn't even addressing the contributors' in their Change the Channel document try to have their cake and eat it too with Justin, both blaming Doug for not firing Justin fast enough and blaming Doug for not allowing them to mourn for Justin. Can't have both, assholes!

The document is full of this double-talk, blaming Doug for things, then blaming him for the inverse. Like they both laughed at the site for not having any contracts, but then complained that Doug forced them to do things. Which is it? Can't be both.

The stuff about Doug apparently not promoting for the rest of the contributors was a bit bullshit too. The dude had a busy production schedule, on top of administrative work. There were no contracts involved; just handshake deals to where he hosted the contributors' shit for free, and promoted them via the website and with crossovers and cameos. Was it passive marketing? Sure thing, but it was also a deal where they didn't have to sink money into the site themselves, only host their content on it.

I'm not saying Doug is a saint; he's an asshole, for sure. But there's a lot more nuance involved here.

I full well agree with you. My comments were meant only for the series of tweets about Doug not wanting to hang out at MAGfest and possibly make videos with the rest of the CA crew and how it's kinda lame of Linkara. I don't think Doug or Linkara are in the right as there really is no right side just people blaming people.

Doug could a make a video tomorrow that's him in front of the camera, expressing his thoughts on Change the Channel, saying how he read through everything, some of it he knew about, some of it he didn't, most of it he wishes he did. He could say a thousand times over that he's sorry, that he's going separate ways from Michaud and starting anew, the NC under a different alias or whatever. Most importantly, he wants to make things right between those who feel they've been wronged.

It wouldn't be enough. They didn't want to just leave CA and air their grievances, they wanted to destroy him. They wanted to see him go back to his ordinary job he had before and they would be at the top of the Internet Critic Community. It didn't work out that way, I think Doug's numbers are slowly going back up and the rest of them...that annoys them. So they're going to keep fighting this fight, fanning the flames wherever possible, hoping to get sympathy points wherever possible but whatever happens, the bridge hasn't been burned, it's been napalmed.

They don't want an apology, they want to get revenge.

Rule #1. Never, EVER under any circumstance, apologize to an SJW. Even if you personally feel you were in the wrong and an apology is necessary, don't give them one. It will NEVER be enough. They're completely incapable of letting bygones be bygones, or even just acknowledging the apology and parting ways, either on amicable or neutral grounds. SJWs exist only to tear down and destroy. Doug could apologize for being an egotistical, myopic sperg, and they'd find a hundred new grievances to fan the flames. It's not worth it, they're not worth it.

As I've said numerous times, in the very first twitter thread when ginger bitch decided to cry her crocodile tears over her wasted life, people asked Linkara "if Walkers and Michaud are so incompetent and bad, why won't you just leave CA?" and his answer was "extra traffic ;)". Only after he left CA, he posted this shit about "trying to change things, but failing". And even without that, would you really take a word of a man, who for years pretended to be righteous women respecter and then turned out to be fan of incest and rape? TL;DR Virtue signaling.

Lewis, when asked offhand and offguard is the most honest. When he has time to think and realize just how bad something makes him look, he spins up a narrative that puts him in the best light. This is why he initially confirmed "HMMM" only to walk it back after he realized it made him look like an asshole.
