And I know I am not the only one, if this does go forward there will be a lot of voters in places like the rust belt who might decide to just not vote after seeing they have no candidate that represents their interests on the second amendment.
I disagree with you there. It might cost him approval, but it won't cost him not one vote.

Anyone who has 2A rights that high on their list of important issues will not choose sitting out over voting Trump and protecting as much as their rights as possible. 'I can't have it all so fuck it, I don't even care anymore, just take my guns if you're gonna be that way.' is just not how gunowners think.

While I am disappointed in this development, it's times like this that remind me that after all we didn't elect a true Republican, but a New York Democrat. I still enthusiastically support Trump though. It's a tough situation with these shootings. He's got to give them something to appease the moderates, so might as well give them something that doesn't matter all too much. Because at the end of the day, if I need a gun that bad, I can get around it.

If you've ever watched Pawn Stars you already know any gun made before 1899 you don't need federal paperwork for. If I wanna kill someone I have no problem shooting you with an antique.

It's actually kinda neat in a way. If a civil war pops off, you might have to protect yourself with a Civil War era weapon. It's fun to think about who was on the business end of the barrel 150 years apart.

The better question is how to organize communities so they can handle their own affairs directly instead of "the government" do something .

Debating if certain laws should be passed or not is passing the buck. It the people job take care of themselves and not some abstract system managed by far away people who care nothing about the locals
Here in bumfuckistan USA we only need like five police for parking tickets. Because everyone with a working pair of arms is part of a de facto town militia. It’s not organized in any official sense, but without a lot of government buffering to make you forget it, everyone knows your safety is your responsibility.

right but I've made my view point well known. Whatever the issue the only way to fix society is replacing the government. The way to replace the government is by forming micro nations at the neighborhood level and have them merge and grow over time. eventually these new enclaves will displace the current system. That my answer to any contemporary issue and it allows for both sides to have their way.

If you ain't trying get something g working in your backyard to what you think is right then why should any one care about what you want on a macro level?

Guns are very heavily restricted these days, clumsily restricted, but still more hoop-jumping than any time before today. Try to offload an extended magazine or silencer in the after-market these days. Yet we still have more mass shootings than back in the 1960’s where you could buy a rifle at a drug store with no background check and clean it in your seat on an airplane. While smoking. Anyone who says “guns are the issue” needs to sit in the corner and let the adults talk.
I’m on board with mental illness as an explanation, because that’s the only thing that makes sense these days. Asylums are closed down and people self-dose with crazy pills with 15+ hours of social media a day where even the establishment press is crying about five imminent apocalypses every day for attention and ad revenue. If the red flag law thing is properly adjudicated, and I’m suspicious about that since we already have people who consider non-Hillary support to be a mental illness that makes you subhuman, then maybe it’s an opportunity to put those who are a threat to themselves and others into padded rooms again.
There’s plenty of points I wanna make from a more ideological stance, since I think most of this mental illness comes from fatherless homes, shitty parenting, bad schools that don’t deal in education, and a work environment that makes getting a summer job a thing of the past for most kids. That sort of combines with the petty narcissistic nature of online cliques and this weird shit where half the people online these days want to open a Patreon and be a professional twitter poster (of porn or hot takes of memes or bath water or whatever) instead of getting a real job. But I recognize that’s me being a curmudgeon.

I only have one Winner to give you for this and it seems so unfair. We probably need a government program to rectify this terrible injustice. Maybe Winners should be taken away from someone who probably will use them wrong and given to those of us who will only use them for good.

It would require a radical culture change. We're educated from the time we learn to walk, to believe that the Federal Government is the most powerful and therefore rightful source of the benevolent ordering of our nation. We're constantly surrounded by messages that "friends are the family you choose, which makes them better!" and that you should move away from Podunk to a big city lest you be "unsophisticated". Easier access to electronic "communities" than to your neighbors doesn't help.

Organizing communities would have to be done from the family level, if we could ever stabilize families (and that would necessitate acknowledging that some relationships are better than others, and not all "love" is love).

You'd basically have to isolate groups of people and make them dependent on one another before you could fix it, unless by some miracle we have a revival of common sense. And...considering how the world is rolling right now, common sense is out of the office until this all blows over.

That wasn't just some random-ass MSNBC contributor, either. That was the former FBI Assistant Director Frank Figliuzzi using fucking numerology on live television to call Trump a Nazi. Assistant Director for Counter-Intelligence, no less. I can't help but appreciate the irony.
Nice, let's go ahead and do astrology too. Neptune, the 8th planet of the Solar System, is in Aquarius right now. Aquarius is the 11th sign of the Zodiac as counted by longitude... But if you skip a few signs, it's the 8th one! 88, it's true, Drumpf is a Nazi. Why do you hate astrology so much?

Leaving the territory of total hogwash and into actual science for a second, there are actually 88 officially recognized constellations in the sky. I wonder if the International Astronomical Union is trying to tell us something?

you are right. which requires certain circumstances to make such an idea possible. such as a large scale collapse or decline. As I said in many areas in the rust belt you are on your own and eventually folks will form bands for protection as a result of current decline.

Hess and Himmler liked astrology. IAU confirmed Nazis.

Its not just mental health, it is a lack of outlets for aggression. It is also these tumblr snowflakes meltiing down at the mere mention of guns. Mass shooters are largely about control, power, and fear. They want to feel powerful for once, and nothing makes people lose their shit like guns. It gets them famous.
People in the 60s had be raised around guns, respected guns, and had been taught not to use guns on people.
The Media should do with every shooting what they're doing with Dayton: pretend every shooter runs counter to their narrative and report the absolute minimum and stop making it "sexy".

Also the mass shooters were taken for food because they are scrawny shits who are no threat without a gun. The police also know these guys are going to be in the station all fucking day, might as well get them a meal now.
Eric "I can't stop inhaling food" Garner, who got fat so he could claim disability from his well paid city parks department job, was too fat to control. He ran from the cops because he was wanted on other warrants. He died over 30 minutes after his interaction with the cops in an abulance because that final jog was too much for his heavily abused cardiovascular system.

Went to see how much sperging the Krassenstein Brothers have been doing since the shootings and they do not disappoint.

If alcohol or drug prohibition couldn't work, what makes you think gun prohibition will?
Exactly. Take something away, and it creates a demand for it and incentivizes illegal methods in obtaining them. All the left would accomplish is making guns more difficult for honest people to get, while gangbangers, murderers, and other such ne'er-do-wells would be armed to the teeth and commit whatever crime they want. Illegal weapons selling and distribution would increase, robberies and murders would skyrocket, and common people would be left defenseless while it all goes on.

And yet the left has the audacity to tell people that taking guns away would make things better, but such is the very nature of post-logic mindset that's ruining people today.

Which is really the whole problem with the optics of this, even if you could torture the logic enough to get behind the principle. The Democrats, both elected officials and all their loyal attack dogs on social media, have spent the last few days proclaiming that every single Trump voter, Republican, conservative, what-have-you is quite literally a Nazi and is 100% complicit in these murders, and then the Republicans say "Oh yeah we definitely think taking guns away from people the government decides are dangerous is a great idea". It's like they really did get tired of winning because even just saying this, whether or not they actually do anything, is a huge losing move on their part. It's like they just threw away the last three years of actually, for once, fighting back against the hatred directed at their constituents from the left, and whirled right back around to shitting on said constituents along with the left.
You're really surprised the Republicans jumped at the chance to put more power in the government's hands?

Should I be concerned that the Krassensteins would like more people to be murdered with knives, cars, bombs, and strangulation? Or should I not shame their kinks?

You're really surprised the Republicans jumped at the chance to put more power in the government's hands?

Utopianism is a bitch, regardless of party.

You joke, but batshit mysticism is often used to justify prejudiced opinions. Lunatics who believe in astrology are some of the most ridiculously sexist people I know, they're pretty much on the level of the type who treat men and women like they're different species.
Sad but true. What follows is not directed at you, but meant to be a general remark, since the topic has been brought up anyway. There are two things I truly hate. One is when people confuse astronomy with astrology. The other one is astrology itself.

Astronomy is the study of apparent and intrinsic properties of celestial objects, intimately intertwined with physics. Astrology, when you get down to it, pretty much tells you to ignore reality and act randomly. It's worse than useless. The fact that it's apparently popular in certain parts of society does not fill me with optimism.

Apologies for the sperg-out.

Not surprised so much as frustrated and annoyed. As someone else said, fighting for 2A rights has been one of the few areas the Republicans had solid wins in their column on before Trump came along. It was, in fact, one of the few things keeping a constituency becoming ever more annoyed with their increasingly pro-big government and pro-taxation agenda, because fuck it at least they were still fighting gun control. It was on its way to being as much of a dead issue as gay marriage during Obama's term, something for pundits to bitch and moan about and pointless idiots on Facebook to reeee over, but nothing that was actually going to affect policy.

Politicians seizing more power is never actually surprising, in this case it's just stupid and poisonous to them as well.

What if it's nihilism?

Yeah nah lost my vote and plenty others.
If all it took to scare you people off was Trump saying "red flag laws" a single time, I mean... He hasn't discussed any policies, made any definitive statements, or attempted to pass any laws, all he did was just say the words and suddenly everyone flings themselves off of the bandwagon kicking and screaming?

Jesus, not much resolution in that crowd, I guess.
