Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

You know, that reminds me of all the blogger's circlejerks to give themselves "Sources" for their libelous articles so that they can be quoted on Wikipedia.

It'd be a miracle if this is the drop that overflows the bucket and kills that circlejerk, but a man can dream...

We all can dream for that one drop, but this conflict is a bit too small (for now that is) to squeeze that drop out...

Since we were down while last night's stream was going I figure I'd point out, for a bit of brevity, that Ty for sure reads this main thread and the Lolcow & Lolcow LLP subforum.

Hello Ty. That leather chair looks comfy. Also I dunno how Vic feels about firearms, but I think when this case is over you two should go squeeze off a few rounds and take pictures of it. I'm sure you know that Range Therapy works wonders.

Wait, I thought that the “the relationship was abusive” was only from a tweet by Blake’s VA.
Eh, emotionally abusive and possessive at best. But Blake's va definitely makes it put to be physical abusive to the point where youd think rape was involved at some point.

And because miles is a fucking woke moron, Kerry has no spine, gray is so woke he leaks Soy, and the combination of the 3 still doesnt create a competent writer, I wouldnt be surprised if later then canonize the relationship as physically abusive.

Hi everyone! Just going to put my $.02 in here and brace for the BTFO...

There are a couple of rational reasons they would do this. Consider the optics here on just one of those reasons...

The biggest takeaway from the article was that the #metoo card got played (even if it wasn't theirs to play IMO) by the journalist on their behalf. If this journalist gets other #metoo journalists to write about it, it gets legs and spreads to other lamestream media (ANN/io9 types don't count). Thus, it gets to a wider audience. Wider audience means name recognition. Name recognition means the possibilities of him becoming a public figure (limited or otherwise) go up considerably.

Will it matter for this lolsuit? Nope. They've already lost this battle, and the legal eagles here have said it can't change that determination. If by sheer magic it does, then get those hats out boys and girls, and salt them up for the inevitable feasting on...

Will it matter for the possible future litigations (round 2, round 3, etc.)? I would tend to think so, but I could be wrong. Even better, I truly hope I'm wrong, because it could setup a nasty precedent going forward...

IANAL, but I welcome their response, and remember everyone: play nice!

:drink:

Whether or not he becomes a public figure now has no bearing on the case. The public figure status must be determined based upon when the actual defamation occurred/was occurring. The article was an attempt to get the story more mainstream and was an attempt at PR. They know their case is circling the drain, and they're trying any and all channels to "win" now.

The more I hear about rooster teeth and its attached fandom the more terrible it sounds. They have fallen so far from the days of making videos in their basement doing voiceovers of them playing halo.
It's just the thing with those who "go woke". Keep that stuff to yourself, and continue the grind with what got you to an elevated level of status.

Hugboxes are internet-based pandemics. They should be easily containable (private speaking topics), but the end result is some mass outbreak of people sperging over something that they really do not understand, nor ever will, for that matter.

Something something ironic career suicide, and the like.

And that's what is bugging me the most. That they'll have marred the content with this jackasserry. And the inevitable lying to cover it up during Audio commentary.

"Yeah, we had to switch because Vic wanted sometime off."

No Miles, he didn't want time off, you wanted to be snack tray assistant to Ron Toye.

Sorry if not a direct response, their politics is starting to get to me.

Edit: I'm assuming Vic wins his lawsuit. Sorry for lack of clarity.

Politics/agendas are the entire problem with the stupid today. I don't blame anyone for being sick to death of it all but the reality is that it won't go away or at least get to managable levels, until people stop funding the people responsible.

Rewatched this old Reddit AMA.

It's interesting to revisit old comment sections as controversies bubble up.

Does BHBH have a merch page yet? I want that coffee mug that was in the live stream but have the Golden Eagle of Empire of Man behind it.

I want to see one of those pens he said feels like it was bore'd out of a solid piece of aluminum. Probably functional as a stabbing weapon.
