Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

So, how many Ls is this for Rooster Teeth in 2019? I'm not trying to advocate them getting a thread of their own, but the ways they've managed to piss off the fans who don't kiss their shoes and the ground they walk on, and the number of them, is just staggering.

Even if they do get a thread. That thread will die faster than the interest in the company itself. It's not worth giving them a thread if we are going to run with this year alone. I do recommend waiting for now since we could get some juicy material if Vic name drops them on round 2.

We have two Rooster Teeth related threads already on The Farms:
1. Sheena Oum's thread:
She went full cow after Monty's death.

2. The Achievement Hunter fandom thread:
I made a post about the David Dreger debacle in there because it related to the Achievement Hunters.

Yeah but then they like totally DIDN'T attach a reason, just sort of kind of did, but not really so no big dealsies!

"We have ended our business relationship with Vic Mignogna. We are making this statement because we were asked to so a Chiclet-toothed witch can publicly defame him with her mousey cuck and little red-haired gremlin familiar. Otherwise what fucking business is it of anyone's if Vic isn't working with us anymore? Oh and just to add a totally unrelated note, we don't condone any form of harassment. Not sayin' Vic is guilty of any of that....buuut....anyways, harassment - not big fans! But go on Jamie Marchi, Josh Martin, Chris Rager, and anyone else who wants to dunk on this fucking PEDOPH- oh whoops! No harassment! Bye!"

Late, gay, trying to get caught up.

The problem with RT's statement is that it was vague. I assume it is so they can say "We're sorry you assumed he was fired for that reason, but that wasn't the actual reason," in the possible case that Funimation and Monica Rial are forced to back down.

So we get to play "Mad Libs: Rooster Teeth edition" why did they fire Vic?

"He didn't fit with the company."
You renewed his contract and he'd worked there for years.

"He was conservative."
Real shitty Rooster Teeth.

"He was Christian."
Very shitty Rooster Teeth.

"He left an uppder decker in the men's room."
You are grasping at straws.

So they won't have a good way to spin this statement if everything blows up.

Are you fucking serious? This fucking dickless maggot.

Miles if you're reading this (And I know you are) please go fuck yourself with a rusty spork, such a good current year little cuck who will more than likely get his own #MeToo by one of the females at Cuck Teeth (More than likely his ex) and there won't be a hint of sympathy from me.

If you're gonna lie, please be good at it you sack of shit with less writing skills than the fan fiction writers on FF.net.

Honestly with all this talk about Cuck Teeth, surprised they haven't earned a thread...Besides the Sheena Oum thread, but that barely counts.

Some background.

Maude Flanders was killed off on The Simpsons because her voice actress asked for a raise, was denied and walked away.

Some years later they recorded the audio commentary and I believe the show runner said "The voice actress asked for some time off."

Now for legal reasons they had to say that because it sounded shitty to say "we didn't want to pay her."

So in the case of Vic, RT will probably be recording the commentary in the midst of a lawsuit and for legal reasons won't say why Vic got swapped out.

Everyone will know why, Miles will just sound like an asshole because he was part of it.

Also someone earlier pointed out that the "Employee vs Independent Contractor distinction isn't important." I think it is because there are federal standards for a sexual harassment investigation for employees. Funimation's is shit and I'm guess RT's is too.

They don't need to provide a reason to fire him (Texas is an at will employment state) and would be stupid not to stay quiet about it. That makes it an uphill battle to prove some kind of wrongful termination. The only thing that could come up is that his contract with them might stipulate some requirement to specify cause if they wanted to dissolve it. Otherwise leaving it vague is exactly the right thing to do from the company's perspective.

However, it seems like Roster Teeth is imploding for a variety of reasons at the moment. I wouldn't find it surprising for someone to get incredibly disgruntled and leak information to someone like Nick that would completely screw them over if it came out in court. Corporate pockets run deeper so it doesn't hurt to sit on that kind of information either.

At will only applies to employees, not contractors.

Contractors can only be fired/let go based upon what is outlined in their agreed upon contracts.

I just remembered something, thought it'd be worth bringing up.

So there's an anime ADV dubbed back in the day called D.N.Angel in which a boy genetically inherited an alter ego, the infamous phantom thief Dark Mousy, where he goes and swipes priceless artifacts and stuff for the sole purpose of getting their curses restored or something (I only watched a few episodes ages ago so details are fuzzy). Well anyway, there're these twins, one of whom he's crushing on but she likes phantom thief Dark, and the other twin came to fall for Dark as well because of an accidental romantic encounter on their balcony where he forcibly kissed her to quiet her down but also to get him to revert back to normal ('cause his boner is destined for the other twin, he literally has to "steal her heart" in order to no longer become Dark, but he stole a different heart).

Well, Dark is played by Vic Mignogna. Ergo, it foreshadowed his encounter with the Yost twins. Life's funny that way.

From a legal stand point it makes sense. But it damages their credibility and shows disdain for their audience. They will be caught in a lie, try and ignore it, and then have to explain why they wouldn't hire Vic back.

I agree wholeheartedly with the second part. That is why I am confused on why they would fight this. A lawsuit requires a United front that they don't have.

That's right kids, keep blowing this up. It's certainly worked wonders so far, what with Vic bringing in more fans to support him with each attack you make.

And now they have a bigger indoor venue, that they'll likely fill up completely if recent history has proven anything. Bravo, Ren. You sure do have a solid track record of being a toxic bitch and it backfiring when your targets become more successful simply through involuntary martyrdom.

More often than not, a contract (for a contracted worker) boils down to "we'll pay you X for Y amount of work". As such, as long as the person gets paid X, there's not a lot beyond that to say "we're done with the contract". I don't expect the contract specifies "as long as character A exists, voice actor B will voice it for X dollars", if it were that sort of thing then there wouldn't be any question about future iterations of the character, and yet, like the Simpsons/Maude example, characters do get new voices over simple pay disputes all the time. Anything more restrictive would be a double edged sword, because if the character for some reason exploded in popularity, the company can still hold the actor to a tiny wage because it wasn't a big deal at the start.

And besides, from all indications, the current fight is basically because the allegations make Vic seem radioactive so he can't cash in on his PAST voice work as easily. There's absolutely no way he gets future gigs from FUNi after this, unless some Japanese company was absolutely adamant that he be cast in the role (which is HIGHLY unlikely) it'd be simple to deny him AFTER an audition and make up any reason for why he lost to someone else, since he certainly had roles that he auditioned for and didn't get in the past. Which is again, why people are saying the SMART play would've been to just stop contracting him for future work and stay mum on why. Hindsight is 20/20 but even without the obvious that it would've been more cost-effective to let him finish out his current trash roles just to finish out existing contracts rather than fight this legal battle now, I can't imagine that it would've made a big dent financially for FUNi's bottom line to finish out the existing contracts considering that the fujos have been threatening "vic boycott"s for years and he was still being cast.

I was nerd googling and noticed Vic voiced Mitsuhide Akechi in Samurai Warriors 3. You know, the Mitsuhide who backstabbed Nobunaga Oda after being a faithful retainer for decades.

Just found it ironic.

Considering the fact that her actions have made her targets well over $1,000,000 combined and more by the day, perhaps her coven should start questioning exactly whose team she's batting for. Now granted, they arent that smart and would never think to question why every target she sends them after ends up wealthy. I wonder when she sold out exactly ;)

Simple answer: you can't (and shouldn't) fix stupid... :semperfidelis:

Was wondering when DN Angel was gonna come up in all this...tho I wasn't even thinking about the those parallels...thunk-provoking.

Fun fact, Vic sang the OP for that show (or was it the ending?). Some of you might not know about his musical accomplishments but he has produced his own independent albums...IIRC a lot of it is Christian music. I remember an old video where he described one of his songs as Evanescence-esque, so take that FWIW. Apparently he can play piano too.

Other anime songs I remember him doing are: the DBZ Kai American OP called Dragon Soul; one of the DBGT OP's; as well as the original One Piece Funimation OP called We Are.

Anyone who is more familiar than me with his musical side, please feel free to chime in. Might make an interesting side topic and be a welcome break from bitching and shitposting about exceptionals. IDK, just a thought. I'm ready for the negative ratings now.

Holy crap, he was Dark Mousy? Vic was in D.N Angel?

Dang it, this is what I miss for watching dubs in my local language.

I wasn't aware ADV dubbed that opening/ending song, if they did.

Yeah, he plays piano, but lolwut, Evanescence-esque xD? Hoo boy, what a dork.

He did the third OP for One Piece as well. There's probably a few more he did as well; the man can carry a tune, so it's no wonder he was asked to sing songs wherever needs be. Only other song I know he did was his fan-cover of "Brothers", which isn't official as far as I know.

Where are you getting that figure from? Can you break it down or explain what you mean?

Ironically, from what I know, D.N Angel has a lot of Yaoi undertones and fans. Guess Vic can't escape from that, huh?

Also Liar is also in the dub, ugh!
