lol rekt. I looked up Taylor Carman - he's also a philosophy professor at Columbia and Barnard in NYC. His Twitter, while nothing to write home about, is completely appropriate for a professor. Pondering this, I realized that I have four friends who are tenured professors in the humanities. I looked up all their Twitter accounts - three of them Tweet under their real names and the content is exactly what you'd expect. Jokes, commentary on current events, links to their own published work, retweets about items of interest in their subject. It all makes sense and it looks like a sane adult wrote it.

So what is the deal with Rhys and crew? I get so much secondhand embarrassment from the daily roundups of their social media fuckery that @Positron posts; I would be appalled to discover that a professor I actually knew was spending all day posting such garbage. Are there other unrelated people in academia who behave this way, or is it literally just Rhys? Is it a troon thing, because people who dedicate their lives to the study of troonology are of a lower intellectual caliber and therefore more likely to behave like idiots? Is it a philosophy thing? Harrop's latest rark about my experiencing "emotional disregulation" is clearly designed to goad me so I DO look mentally unstable. It is straight out of the abuser's handbook.

The irony is that the "troons are hyper-oppressed" theory is blind to intersectionality. They'll point at some guy like ADF and say "Transphobia did this", when in reality his problems are because he's a troon and uneducated and unemployed and unemployable and filthy and ugly and mentally ill and so much of an asshole that he's burned all his bridges to normal society.
But if you compare him to some guy who's a cis male but checks off every other item on that laundry list, who's doing better? Probably the troon, for various reasons.

He's said several times that he has had "genital surgery," and has said that he required one revision surgery due to complications. He was writing an anonymous blog at the time--he blogged about having scheduled a trip to Thailand, ostensibly for the surgery. But there's a long gap in the blog (4+ months) during the time he said he was going. When he resumes posting, he claims to have had the surgery.

He does NOT discuss any specific details, he didn't make any concurrent blog entries while in Thailand, and he never makes any kind of references to it anymore. It's certainly possible he's lying and is still 100% intact, but most people here think that he did have some kind of surgery. It's possible that the intentionally vague term "genital surgery" refers to an orchiectomy and not full on SRS. I also think there's a possibility that he had SRS that was seriously botched and he's embarrassed to talk about it.

So is the board consensus that he has had the surgery? Why would he have gone to Thailand to do it? If he had the money surely he'd have had it done at home.
