Short Circuit had some guy doing brown face. While I'll admit I've have massively preferred Sendhil Ramamurthy from Heroes to do this part (and I'd love him to do every Indian part in Western films his voice is just so great), a white guy in brown face and putting on an "Indian" accent didn't bother me at all. It's unrelated to nearly everything else in this thread except for the fact it was apparently perfectly acceptable to both Hollywood and the viewers.

I only learned this a few years ago. Its amazing that almost no one noticed at the time. I remember aziz ansari bringing it up.

I'm of the opinion that these guys are actors and I only care whether or not they can act their part convincingly. I don't give a fuck about "blackface" "brownface" or "whiteface", I only care about their acting abilities, I couldn't give less of a shit what kind of makeup they're expected to wear for their part.

Also if you're tempted to get buttmad over this, just remember that her and cunts like Crimson Chin Montello tried so hard to get him cancelled from doing anything in New York this month - and failed. Instead he got his own panel and (I'm assuming) got all the money from it for himself instead of splitting it with a convention. And unlike Monica's comic book store signing that was guarded by the most dangerous sperg man alive, people actually chose to go to it.

That was 30 years in 1988, my dude, much different culture. There's no way it would fly now, hell not even in 2007, especially with that indian accent Fisher Stevens had.
Now someone of ambiguous ethnicity portraying an Indian is fine nowadays as long they don't darken their skin or have a stereotypical accent, i.e. the actor playing the indian college student (who helped make facebook) in The Social Network was an italian/chinese/english mix and was able to pull it off. (actor on right, real guy Divya Narendra on left)

Jesus, I used to have long hair and seeing this picture I have to say this guy hasn't washed his hair for like a month. When this poor lass moved her head away I imagine she had to peel that guy's greasy shit off her face. I commend her for being able to smile in that situation.

Eh, Ren's a dreadful person and, I'm sure, a disappointment to anyone who ever cared about her. But she loves to gloat about everything prematurely, and everything to do with Vic will be no different. One photo with hoverhand doesn't negate all the times at recent cons people have asked for hugs, and one post by Ren about it shows nothing more than she once more erroneously thinks something has gone her way.

She's impotent and angry about it. Let her stay mad, we just laugh at her lame attempts at doing anything that makes a single iota of difference to the world.
