Edited - the initial reply was too hasty. Apologies for early readers (things are a bit complicated in this case).

Image 1 (red circle one) - shows an developmental anatomical abnormality called atlanto-occipital assimilation where the top vertebra in the neck is fused to the skull. This can cause a variety of anatomical issues. One of which, called scoliosis (an abnormal curvature to one side) is present in this case.

Image 2 - At first glance this would be normal by most conventional criteria. However, the angle between the skull and spine is a bit too shallow, and the brainstem appears kinked over the top of the spine. Normally, this would not be considered of any interest by most neurosurgeons, but this is the critical feature for diagnosing "CCI". This kinking is everything to the "CCI aware" docs.

There are some other things. By some measures, there may be "basilar invagination" (the skull base collapsing, and the spine piercing it and going up into the skull cavity), but only by some definitions, and not the most common one (you draw a line at the skull base, and see if the spine has gone above it). The may also be very mild atlanto-axial subluxation (can't really tell, because there isn't a calibrated scale). I've checked for platybasia (not present by normal criteria). This isn't the right scan for hydrocephalus (but almost certainly not present).

So, there is some strange anatomy of the skull base, and some mild positives measurements for some potential problems. The issue is in the interpretation. What do these mildly altered angles and positions mean, if the problem is that the spine didn't develop right?

Is it appropriate to use measures intended to measure "instability" indirectly when the anatomy isn't the textbook anatomy anyway, and therefore things aren't quite in the normal positions? The angle between the skull base and spine is a controversial measure for instability anyway, and not many neurosurgeons believe in it. In a case where the anatomy is altered, how can anyone say what it means?

Similarly, with regard to the "basilar invagination": If a surgeon really wants to operate, then they could quite easily say "Yes. This is a problem. This measurement shows that your skull base is caving in. It needs stabilisation to prevent it getting worse". If a surgeon doesn't want to operate they could say, "This is borderline, and the problem is that you have different anatomy, not that your skull base is caving in. Just because the angles come out as positive for the skull base collapsing, doesn't mean that is actually the case - we can see that the bones aren't collapsing, it's just your anatomy doesn't match the textbooks".

If you have more than 15 degrees of bend between cord and stem, you have CCI. Also, that is definitely a subluxed vertebra (would need more scans and measurements to decide how close to dislocation.) That is not a munchie.

Edit, also on closer look, there’s a bit of strange anatomy at the top where the first vertebra looks fused. Depending on the person, this can really create a lot of pressure on the skull and create instability in other places. A bit of brain invagination going on. Definitely would like to see more scans in other angles but this looks like a real problem.

Well, I’ve heard of people that have major depressive and anxiety episodes when they quit it which makes sense. Supposedly, she was suicidal because of “the pain” that marijuana took away. I recall she spent all of her monthly gnome allowance on weed. Wonder what she will do now with all the money? Get a haircut? Progress on to Oxys? She was rather pissed her little suicidal stunt didn’t wield her treatment with “opiates or otherwise”. Amazing that doctors won’t just give opiates to people who have no diagnosed ailment that should be treated with them. I’ve said it once and I will say it again. This girl needs intensive therapy and treatment for anxiety plus exercise and vitamins. Hoping she might actually get that has me needing all the bows.

I went through her KF posts one by one and although she did state she was Fay she only ever mentioned an ex boyfriend in anecdotes.
