Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

In hopefully less depressing news though, Marvel just lost one of their biggest sources of income.

The Lootcrate shit is the most delicious Schadenfreude. I feel bad for absolutely no one involved, except the warehouse workers. Arguably receiving nothing is better than getting overpriced low quality "geek" detritus.

I didn't realize that Lootcrate was being used to push Marvel subscription numbers but that makes sense.

This video really goes the extra mile in explaining so much stuff.
This explains everything...

And his source seems to be trustworthy since its the same one that said much of what is happening now in regards to GE. And their plan would've worked too if not for those meddling angry fans. As well as Rian's inability to direct and JJ's inability to forge decent world building.

And the video points out that Walmart has begun eliminating their SW toy sections. With that and Toys R Us gone, Disney just lost their biggest source of SW income.

Also I guess I finally know how much the profit is (or was) from book sales thanks to this chart. For more info on the toy losses, here's the video from the Echo Base channel.

Some sad news I just found out though, Shanon McRandle the model who portrayed Mara Jade Skywalker (mostly for pics, promotions, merch, comic depictions and convention/live performances and was the original basis) before Disney gave her character the shaft and cut her off, got cancer and a debilitating bone disease last year so she started a GoFundMe. She's had some support but its been tough... I'm just sad I didn't know about it sooner. I pray that she got the treatment she needed then...

Good luck trying to push your comics now Dr. Aphra.
How could Disney fail this hard?

I'm surprised myself but it would explain a lot and how Marvel manages to push so many shit comics. And I know this isn't very related, but I recall Clownfish TV also discussing a WB exec who addressed the slow death of DC and how its number is up. If Marvel goes kaput too, this will really change the playing field, not just for Disney Wars but for indie publishers.

I mean really, its amazing how all this is happening, ever since GE opened its been one disaster after another (not accounting for Aladdin, Lion King and Avengers, although 50% of their revenue goes to taxes and a big cut goes to cinemas). Its as if the forces of destiny (reference intended) are looking to fuck over The Mouse for flying too close to the sun.

This makes sense in a way NuTrek™ never made sense until I read about the copyright & IP issues. I'll buy Lucas is getting some residuals. But I guess my question is what the fuck did Disney actually buy when they bought LucasFilms then? Even assuming it hadn't tanked the franchise, this is a lot of very expensive work to do and hoops to jump through.

All we need now is investors within a year or two to force Iger to dump all the Fox assets to someone else if they are to stay alive. I honesty think they’ll be the last of the original majors to be bought out.

EDIT:
Oh shit, check this out. Apparently Disney is cutting the budget of Galaxy’s Edge.

That's from the article I posted before, but the video does mention something I missed. That being the Kylo Ren ride getting its budget cut too. One thing that differs from the leak I posted is that the one I shared already had the actors removed while Al's implies that the removed actors is the budget cut version. So was the one I posted the watered down version or will it get even worse? The leak I posted also mentioned the actors being removed and getting replaced with animatronics, but supposedly the ride has been having technical difficulties in regards to the AT-AT's "revolutionary" laser effects not working right, the supposed battle scene between animatronic/motionless soldiers with blasters that riders will barely be able to see from below deck, and the trackless trolley's efficiency at keeping passengers safe or properly fastened for escape pod part of the ride which is just a Tower of Terror-style elevator ride.

Vi Moradi makes me think that the failed Hasbro attempt to rebrand Sabine as orange-black wan't just a strange product design choice, but somebody trying to overwrite a minor character with their own recolor OC. And then when that toy and cartoon line bombed, they took their donut steel and made it a theme park character.
girlbobafett.jpgshitbook.jpg
Is it me or does Vi Moradi look like a POC version of Sabine Wren from Rebels? TFW Disney's OC-don't steal characters are retreads of exisiting characters with nothing more than a different color scheme.

And the sad thing is, that most women who see the new Disney Star Wars movies, probably hate them as much as I do.
There's been mention in past posts about women who've made YouTube videos discussing this very point - they're all in favor of seeing good female characters but not at the expense of purposely portraying male characters as bumbling, incompetent, and totally dependent on female leadership.

When you model a pseudo-nazi villain after a nazi character, who would be more intimidating?
If you modelled him after Colonel Klink:
TBH, Colonel Klink looks competent compared to the trio of Hux, Snoke, and Phasma.

Hmm, the quote I wanted to reply to got eaten up, but I was going to say that I agreed that we had the potential for a new batch of badass villains. We could have had:
  • Snoke: A badass Force wielder who could have been this trilogy's Emperor with his cold, manipulative personality.
  • Hux: The young general very eager to make a name for himself in terms of treachery and evil actions.
  • Phasma: Could have easily been a (rare) kickass female antagonist with her initial appearance and personality we saw in TFA.
Instead, Snoke gets killed anticlimactically by his emo apprentice. Hux is relegated to comedy relief in a way that makes Jar Jar Binks look likeable. And Phasma is seemingly defeated twice by the same former stormtrooper she deems inferior/deficient.

One of the biggest flops in the ST has been the lack of a credible villain/threat. The so-called heroes' defeats have come largely for their own incompetence and awful leadership (or lack thereof).

Clone Wars lasted 12 seasons
Is my math wrong here?

We had 5 seasons of Clone Wars before Disney pulled the plug.

The Lost Missions (aka Season 6) were an excerpt of episodes that were already made for the three final seasons that never aired.

And we're getting another batch of 12 episodes from those same three seasons that were initially axed by Disney. Some are calling this season 7, I think.

Where did 12 seasons of TCW come from? 🤔

As for Resistance, I'm not surprised it's being axed after two seasons. I've seen few outside of the die-hard SW/Disney shills singing the show's praises. I'm not sure if the animation style is Disney's way of trying to appeal to younger kids or if they're just watering down SW with each new release they make -- or maybe it's both. What I found odd was the idea Resistance was supposed to be a prequel for TFA even though the focus included what seemed like a large number of characters that didn't appear in the film.

Disney certainly hasn't demonstrated any competence in SW story-telling.

HOLY FUCK! They're bringing back the SPACE TIME ANUS! Time travel again?! Seriously? IX time reset confirmed.

And they apparently made an SNL skit a part of Disney Canon, the one where Kylo Ren goes around pretending to be a maintenance worker aboard Starkiller....

I guess the Resistance cartoon is ending after this season.

Not surprised in the slightest. Putting aside the weak quality and that spaz of a main character, the show had been saddled with a conflict that's so derivative that they might as well have made more seasons of Rebels. Probably didn't help when TLJ was set so close to TFA and killed off the vast majority of the Resistance.

Really, the show had been kneecapped from the beginning. Lucasfilms should've focused more on Clone Wars instead.

They're actually fucking doing it... THEY'RE ACTUALLY STUPID ENOUGH TO DO IT!

I'm in awe that they're committing to a time scratch to retcon this shit from existing. I knew they were gonna do it, but we're gonna see the fucking wolf gate and time fights... well, we would if we bother to see it.

I love watching a corporation kill itself in real time.

This seems rather devastating, tbh. I guess it didn't really catch on with audiences and has to be axed quickly.
From everything that I've seen, people of all ages really hate this show. It focuses too much on humor, the main characters are unlikable (especially the protagonist, Kaz the Spaz), and they've pretty much stuck in one location the entire show. Not to mention how the cel-shaded technique they went with for the animation just looks really really bad on the character models so it's not exactly nice to look at. It's also got a just flat out boring plot. Honestly, I'm glad it's getting axed.

I mean, buying 20th Century Fox while in heavy debt and with several great financial risks in the pipeline is a galaxy brained take if I have ever seen one

When will we get good star wars video games again?

I have fond memories of Episode 1 Racer, Rogue Squadron Trilogy, Shadows of the Empire, KOTOR 1 and 2, and Jedi Outcast.

Fuck I even bought Super Bombad Racing because it was only a buck at gamestop, and that's far more tolerable over any of the nu-wars shit.
When we crowdfund a necromancer to bring LucasArts back from the dead

Disney collapsing gives me a massive erection. But then again, any massive, monolithic, 'woke' corporation collapsing gives me an erection.
There's no way they are collapsing. But we might see Disney start selling non performing assets, perhaps also lending Sony some of their IPs, etc.

We might be witnessing the end of Disney land. It's no secret that it's a market with a lot of volitality and little room for growth
