i like old testament morality. for example, i think one should only care about members of his own tribe.

as for your second question, tell me what reading this thread would make you think the correct answer is

In addition to caring about ones own tribe, do you think there are situations where it's necessary to breed through incest? I only ask because the old testament has a few instances of this occurring (admittedly it was because other methods of procreation were unavailable, no other mates and so on), so I wonder where that falls on the morals you would teach your children. How important is continuing the lineage to you, I suppose my question is.

This also makes me wonder what political system you think is the most apt for humanity? The mention of tribes made me think of it. What do you think would work for men and women the best? This is also assuming that you wouldn't have to retrain all the feminist women, assume they are already sane and you just need to build the society

As for what I think the correct answer is, it seems to me you believe the only way to rectify our society is to destroy and rebuild, but I didn't want to assume without your input. Would my assumption be correct?

Not in Lot's story! Lot and his daughter were hiding in a cave because they feared the nearest town would be destroyed like Sodom and Gomorrah (it wasn't). His daughters could have left him to his mental illness and walked to the town, but they chose to get him drunk and sleep with him instead.

Also Jacob married his cousin, Abraham married his half-sister... there are probably more. I just can't think of them off the top of my head.

@Holden Please don't make your dog have sex with women. Bestiality is animal abuse and is taking advantage of an innocent creature that is unable to consent. It's also super gross.

If that's the kind of thing you want to do with your dog, then maybe you shouldn't be allowed to own one. I'll take it off your hands for you.

You acknowledge that twelve year old girls aren't physically equipped to handle pregnancy and childbirth, but you cite "basic knowledge of biology" to justify your assertion that age of consent should be twelve anyway. What do you mean by "basic knowledge of biology" then? And why should we ignore the social reasons for why children aren't equipped to handle sexual relationships with adults, such as the inevitable power imbalance and their emotional immaturity?

Well shit, I was remembering it wrong. I thought with Lot it was a no choice thing, I am however mistaken. It was actually the example I was thinking of but woops. My bad!

I have heard that argument but it doesn't make a lot of sense. After the angels tell Lot what's up he asks them where he should go. They tell him about a little city called Zoar. The angels even tell him nothing bad will happen to Zoar. They promise him this.

The very next chapter starts: "Lot went up out of Zoar, and lived in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he was afraid to live in Zoar." (Gen 19:30) Why was he afraid to stay there? The Bible doesn't say. The Torah might, but I haven't looked into it that deeply. What this implies, however, is that the mountains are within walking distance of Zoar. His daughters figure raping their dad is a more reasonable option, even though they presumably had no qualms about walking to Zoar to get wine to drug him.
